We suggest doing this early on, as it shows you various facilities in The Well area. In this guide we’ll go over how to complete the Investigate Brown-outs in The Well quest.

How to Complete Investigate Brown-outs in The Well in Starfield

The Investigate Brown-outs in The Well quest appears in your log while exploring New Atlantis, the capital of Jemison. NPCs will gossip as you pass by, and you might overhear the information.

Louisa and the Circuit Breakers

To begin this quest in Starfield, you’ll need to head to that actual area. From the Spaceport district, go to the back of the Jemison Mercantile shop and ride the elevator to The Well. There, you’ll meet Louisa, who asks you to help her with the circuit breakers.

Make sure you’re tracking the quests so that the breakers appear marked on your map. For the last one, you will need to unlock a door by flipping several switches. In my case, I chose the first switch from the right, followed by the fourth and the second. In case the solution might be different, I suggest doing a bit of trial and error.

Alternating Currents: The Trade Authority and More Breakers

Talk to Louisa to begin the next stage, which is called Alternating Currents. The two of you will proceed to the Trade Authority building, where you’ll meet Kaminski. As usual, you’ll interact with circuit breakers once more. Here’s a quick summary:

  • One panel is on metal platforms off to the side of a structure. Instead of going the long way around, I suggest just using your jetpack to reach it.
  • Louisa and Kaminski will bicker about the next panel. As far as I can tell, it doesn’t matter which one you interact with. I reloaded a save, and it seems both actions are considered correct, and you’ll be able to proceed with the next step in the Starfield Investigate Brown-outs in The Well activity.

Who Should Receive the Files

This takes you to the surface, specifically the Athena Tower. Pull the lever outside the entrance, then ride the elevator. Enter the room and check the computer. You can then select the Download Files option to finish this task.

Upon returning to the Trade Authority building, you can decide whether Louisa or Kaminski receives the data. I double-checked just to be certain, but both of them give you the same amount of XP. There are also no follow-up quests, so you won’t be locked-out just because of your decision.
