Learn about the possible locations of the Arrow of Unmaking in Dragon's Dogma 2 and how to use it in this guide.

The Arrow of Unmaking is a special arrow that can insta-kill any boss in Dragon’s Dogma 2. There are a couple of ways you can obtain this powerful weapon. Here, I’ll show you where to find the Arrow of Unmaking in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and who to use it on.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Finding the Arrow of Unmaking

There are two ways to get the Arrow of Unmaking in Dragon’s Dogma 2, including:

  • Unlocking Chest #7 during the Sphinx’s Riddle of Recollection segment at the Mountain Shrine.
  • Purchasing the Arrow of Unmaking at the Bay Wayside Shrine for 8 Wyrmslife Crystals.

Mountain Shrine Location

One of the ways to get the Arrow of Unmaking is to face the Sphinx monster at the Mountain Shrine, who will give you ten riddles to solve. If you solve riddle #7, known as the “Riddle of Recollection,” you’ll get the Arrow of Unmaking as a reward. To get to the Mountain Shrine, you need to pass through the Worldsend Cavern, which I marked on the map below:

The Riddle of Recollection is very easy to solve, as it pertains to the number of riddles that you’ve solved before. Here’s the riddle itself:

  • “Now, questions beget questions, and I have one for you: How many riddles have you solved thus far?”
  • “My memory fails me, you see. Remind me, and make it plain.”
  • “Let yonder statues be your means. For every question aptly answered, bring one here before me.”

Since this is riddle #7, it means that you’ve already guessed six of them. So, bring six statues to the Sphinx to unlock the chest with the Arrow of Unmaking.

Bay Wayside Shrine Location

If you don’t want to face the Sphinx just yet, then I highly recommend purchasing the Arrow of Unmaking at the Bay Wayside Shrine, which is located to the northeast of Bakbattahl. I marked its exact location on the map below:

There, you’ll meet the Dragonforged, who’s also part of the “Flickering Shadows” mission. He sells one Arrow of Unmaking for 8 Wyrmslife Crystals. I discovered several ways to get the Wyrmslife Crystals, although they’re quite rare:

  • Using Pilfer or Plunder skills to obtain Wyrmslife Crystals from the drakes.
  • Defeating the boss at the Dragonsbreath Tower in Wyrmsblood Forest.
  • Defeating the boss at the Moonlight Tower, which is located to the south of the Excavation Site on the Volcanic Island.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: How to Use the Arrow of Unmaking

The only two vocations that can use the Arrow of Unmaking are Warfarer and Archer. But I must warn you that it’s not possible to use this arrow in a Magick Bow. But any other bow will suffice, and you can easily equip it like any other arrow:

  1. Open your inventory.
  2. Select the Arrow of Unmaking.
  3. Choose the “Equip” option.
  4. Aim with a Steady Shot for maximum precision.

Also, I need to mention that the Arrow of Unmaking saves the game automatically once it’s been shot. Just be aware of this when attempting to use it on a boss. If you have any unfinished business, then it’s probably better to postpone using the arrow before you wrap things up.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Who to Use the Arrow of Unmaking On

Since the Arrow of Unmaking is extremely rare and hard to obtain, I recommend using it only on the most problematic bosses in Dragon’s Dogma 2. For me, there are only two obvious choices for this mighty weapon since you can really get only two arrows:

  • Gigantus
  • Sphinx

Gigantus is a giant optional boss who needs to be prevented from reaching the Moonlight Tower in the “Guardian Gigantus” side quest. It’s possible to disable it without getting involved in a fight, but it’s a lot better to defeat it using the Arrow of Unmaking. You’ll not only get excellent rewards but also unlock the “Gigantus, I Hardly Knew Ye” achievement, especially if you’re aiming for a 100% achievement rate. I’d recommend using an arrow purchased from the Dragonforged to beat this boss.

Once you reach the Sphinx boss and unlock the Arrow of Unmaking by solving riddle #7, it’s only natural to defeat Sphinx using the arrow at the end. If you do this, you’ll unlock the final eleventh chest at the end of the battle, which contains the Eternal Wakestone capable of reviving several dead NPCs. However, this chest can be unlocked only with the Key of Sagacity, which the Sphinx drops right after being defeated.

That’s all I wanted to tell you on where to find the Arrow of Unmaking in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and who to use it on. Stay tuned for more DD2 tips and tricks articles, including a guide on how to get into the basement sickroom.
