Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK) — How to Beat Stalnox Guide

Here's our guide to help you beat a Stalnox miniboss in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Stalnox is a type of miniboss that you’ll sometimes encounter as you explore the world. This skeletal behemoth is the bony carcass of a Hinox, reanimated to put an end to you. Our guide tells you how to beat a Stalnox boss in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

How to Beat a Stalnox in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

One of the few times you’ll encounter a TotK Stalnox is during your trek through the Royal Hidden Passage. Upon reaching the underground lake, you’ll see a pile of boulders suspiciously strewn in the center of a field. If you destroy them, such as via Bomb Flowers or blunt weapons, the Stalnox’s remains will be revealed. In just a few seconds, it will reanimate and come after you.

There are also other Stalnox locations, such as the Skull Lake Cave, where you can get one of the Fierce Deity armor pieces. Regardless, the Royal Hidden Passage Stalnox boss fight is a good tutorial for fighting others. I found that while the locations may change, the tactics for beating Stalnox remain the same.

TotK Stalnox Weaknesses and Attacks

To beat a Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Stalnox, I suggest treating it similar to a Hinox. Its weak point, therefore, is its eye. A single arrow shot to the eye is enough to stun it. While it’s seated on the ground, you can wail away with your melee weapons.

However, you still need to watch out for its attacks, such as:

  • Roly-Poly Crash, where it leaps and slams back on the ground.
  • Rib Ripper, where it tosses one of its ribs at you.

TotK Stalnox Boss Strategies

Once the Stalnox’s HP is below 40%, it will start covering its eye periodically. That means you can’t aim for prolonged periods. You’ll want to time your shot right when there’s a window of opportunity. Moreover, after fully depleting its HP, it won’t actually die yet.

Instead, its eye will roll on the ground. Immediately sprint to it so you can continue attacking it with your melee weapon.

You probably won’t be able to do a lot of damage in a single phase. Believe me, I had a tough time just a couple of hours into the campaign. Still, the process will remain the same: shoot its eye to make it fall to the ground, then continue attacking it.

Stalnox Rewards

Once you defeat a TotK Stalnox, you may obtain some Stalnox materials, and even some Hinox-related ones. However, if you’re fighting the one in Royal Hidden Passage, then the main reward here is the assortment of melee weapons that you can equip and fuse.

And that’s how to beat Stalnox in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. For more tips, walkthroughs, and strategies, head over to our Zelda: TotK guides page.
