Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — How to Kill Walking Mimic Trees in TotK

Here's how to find and kill Evermean Walking Mimic Trees in TotK.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Walking Mimic Trees, or Evermeans, will catch you by surprise. You might think you can wander a grove of trees unharmed, but suddenly, one will lurch out of the ground and start chasing you. It’s worse if you’re already fighting a Bokoblin. And you’ll quickly learn that not all weapons can beat them. Here’s how to kill Walking Mimic Trees in Tears of the Kingdom.

TotK Walking Mimic Trees are mostly found in forests, but they can be found in groves of trees near plains and other generally open areas. You can find them in any forest or grove (represented by dark brown splotches on the map) at any time of day and in any weather. I’ve even come across some in the Depths, dripping in Gloom goop.

If you need to get them guaranteed for a quest, I always find one at Satori Mountain, which can be reached by the Sonapan Shrine (-1921, -0357, 0228).

So how do you kill Totk Walking Mimic Trees? There are a few weapons that work against this enemy type, but some are better than others. In ideal circumstances, you can keep Mimic Trees at a distance by shooting them with flaming arrows.

Here are the best ways to kill Mimic Trees:

  • Bomb Flower fused arrows (works in the rain, instant kill)
  • Red Chuchu Jelly fused arrows
  • Fire Fruit fused arrows
  • Axes
  • Swords

If you’re fighting a Tears of the Kingdom Mimic Tree up close, know that weapons such as clubs and spears won’t work. You’ll have to chop the tree down with a bladed edge.

TotK Walking Mimic Tree Materials: What They Drop

Evermean Walking Mimic Trees can drop various types of loot, some of which are typical of a tree. Here’s what they’ve dropped for me:

  • Sturdy Thick Stick
  • Apple
  • Golden Apple
  • Acorn
  • Korok Frond
  • Hightail Lizard
  • Bladed Rhino beetle

Do TotK Walking Mimic Trees Respawn?

While the randomness of their spawning points makes it hard to pinpoint exactly if Walking Mimic Trees respawn in Tears of the Kingdom, my experience has been that they do so at random. However, it’s not in the exact same spot; they will appear near a previous Evermean Tree location. It also seems that they reappear during Blood Moons.
