Jun Kazama Tekken 8 Trailer Proves Not Even Death Can Stop Her

Familial issues will likely come to a head when Tekken 8 releases next year.

A surprise Jun Kazama trailer reveals that the Tekken 8 character will be making a return to the franchise as a playable fighter. While she did appear in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, that game is non-canonical to Tekken’s storyline. As far as the main series goes, Jun “died” in Tekken 2, and her moveset was adopted by her niece, Asuka. Somehow, Jun is still alive and Kazuya is angry.

When it comes to her fighting style, Jun very much looks like she did in Tag Tournament 2. The updated flair of Tekken 8’s switch to Unreal Engine does give her a more angelic grace, though she’ll still utilize her Kazama Family-style martial art (which is comparable to Jiu-Jitsu).

The brief encounter we see between Jun and Kazuya looks breathtaking. There’s a lot of history between the two, and I have a feeling the story mode of this game will center around Jun’s sudden reappearance. Kazuya even says as much, stating, “So you were alive all along.”

Jun never had a critical art, so the one showcased here plays into her healing abilities. She focuses on her opponent’s heart and blasts a healing beam to cure them of their anger. That could have some implications for a potential story, but I might be reading too much into things.

The Tekken 8 Jun Kazama trailer isn’t the only one released by Bandai Namco in recent weeks. King has made an appearance, Marshall Law is back, and Kazuya has already flexed his Devil Gene. Tekken 8 is currently planned for a 2024 release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
