So a little back story on my life is that I’ve played World of Warcraft for roughly eight years or so, and tanking for nearly ninety percent of that time. We’ll just say that I have had a lot of practice and I “know what I’m doing”. That being said I didn’t start tanking so much, actually I started (as everyone else did) playing a hunter in original WoW or as most people call it Vanilla WoW, this is actually where my story really begins.
Around when the Icecrown expansion released I decided to go back to my hunter after being mostly a tank in Burning Crusade, I had just got my hunter geared enough to do Naxxramas which is the earliest raid for Wrath of the Lich King. I decided to do Naxxramas and got into a group with a bunch of other people I had never met before. We cleared a few bosses in the raid, honestly I don’t remember exactly how many but one thing I do remember is that around a boss named Gluth which happened to be an undead dog looking creature, my raid needed someone to kite the zombie adds that show up for Gluth to eat and heal himself (basically keep them away from Gluth), And so I volunteered because I knew how to kite really well. We killed the boss and after the boss I rolled need on a pair of boots that had dropped, after I won the boots I got a message from a Shaman named Lilkittykat who told me that she would enchant my boots for free some time if I wanted. Honestly I didn’t think anything of it and added her to my friends so I could get it later because I was raiding and didn’t have the time to do it now.
Awhile later Lilkittykat and I started running groups together more because she happened to be a really good healer and that makes for a tanks best friend, so we got into group with two other people who happened to be her brother and her boyfriend when and decided to run a heroic dungeon together. We got into the dungeon and Lilkittykat and I were talking as we normally do and talking about stuff we need to do in the dungeon and gear, basically anything because we enjoyed talking to each other. Her boyfriend did not like that at all and decided to give me a hard time about my tanking and told me that I was a crappy tank and that I should uninstall the game, So I got annoyed and kicked him from the group (Not knowing at the time that it was her boyfriend). We regrouped our self’s and continued to clear the dungeon with a new person that none of us knew, I kept seeing comments in chat about how Lilkittykat and Mondor (Her brother) were arguing with her boyfriend and he wanted Lilkittykat to log off, so I convinced them to finish and we did.
Not longer after that Lilkittykat explained everything that had happened and I apologized for kicking her boyfriend out of our group and she told me it was fine and we went on about our business, not even a few days later she messages me to talk to me about something, and I thought no big deal of it because I didn’t know who she was or anything, come to find out her and her boyfriend broke up that day and I felt like I was the cause of that and so I apologized again about it and hoped that everything would be okay for her.
About a month later after talking to her for a long time and looking at her MySpace page to make sure she was not a man, I decided to go to California on leave from South Korea to visit my father in Arizona and to see if Lilkittykat was actually a real person or even a woman at that. We ended up spending the rest of my leave together and falling in love, a little while later I decided to fly her to South Korea for the rest of my deployment.
And we played World of Warcraft for all of our days (and still do) the end!
