Death Stranding
\n

Hideo Kojima's latest epic is certainly controversial, but it cannot be denied that Death Stranding is a beautiful and, at times, horrific experience. Though it originally released on PS4, its subsequent PC release showed how incredible it can be when rendered at such high fidelity.

\n

Unlike many of the games on this list, Death Stranding needs an upgrade to 4K/60fps not for its moment-to-moment gameplay, but for the world and story built around it. So much of why Death Stranding works relies on unperturbed immersion, and being able to experience its environmental storytelling in the finest detail — without losing any performance  is key to the experience.

\n

---

\n

So there you have it: eight PS4 games that so desperately need a 4K/60fps patch to take full advantage of the PS5's hardware.

\n

What games did we miss? What would you have included? Which game from the list would you be most excited for if a patch was announced? Let us know in the comments down below!

Horizon: Zero Dawn
\n

Guerilla Games' smash-hit has struck a chord with more than 10 million fans (at the very least) since it released on the PS4 in 2017. Many, including myself, immediately connected with Aloy, her resolve, and her adventure. Plus it's cool to take down giant robot creatures with a bow and arrow.

\n

With the sequel on the horizon (pun intended), the recent release of Horizon: Zero Dawn on PC, and Sony giving away the PS4 version via the Play At Home program in mid-April, a PS5 upgrade is sure to release soon, right?

\n

In any case, like many others on this list, we already know how good the game would look and feel with a 4K/60fps upgrade thanks to the PC version, so it's time for the PS5 to come up to par with it.

Gravity Rush 2
\n

Why Gravity Rush 2 doesn't already hit 60fps on PS4 is another headscratcher. The remaster of the PS Vita classic, and this game's predecessor, Gravity Rush, runs at the incredibly smooth frame rate on Sony's last-gen system, so having the sequel being locked to 30fps feels quite anti-climactic.

\n

It felt that way when the game released in 2017, and it still feels that way today. Hopefully, we can see this addition for Gravity Rush 2, but the recent departures from SIE Japan put the prospect of such a patch in jeopardy.

Batman: Return to Arkham
\n

Unlike Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, where the series' early entries run at 60fps, the Batman Arkham series is a bit different: only the latest release, Batman Arkham Knight, runs at 60fps on PS5.

\n

Before Insomniac's fantastic Spider-Man and Miles Morales, Batman Arkham ruled the roost, setting the stage for all of the superhero games to follow. So it goes without question that the remaster of Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City is far overdue.

The Last Of Us 2
\n

Once again the latest in a hit Naughty Dog series is left behind without a PS5 patch. A full 4K 60fps patch for The Last Of Us 2 would make a great game even better.

\n

Just as The Last Of Us was remastered and released for PS4 (and seems to be getting a full-on remake), it is very likely the same will happen here, where a remaster of The Last Of Us 2 is quietly being worked on, opening the door to more than just a frame rate and resolution boost.

\n

The Last of Us 2 already looks great on PS5 via backwards compatibility but imagine how faster load times, increased frames, and ray-tracing could affect the feel of Ellie's adventure.

The Last Guardian
\n

The Last Guardian is an interesting case because there is already a way to play it at 4K 60fps on PS5. The only catch is that fans must already own a physical copy of the game on PS4 and most importantly, do not update it to the latest patch.

\n

Running the game unpatched on PS5 allows fans to experience The Last Guardian precisely the way it really should be experienced. It's unfortunate, though, that there is no official way to play the game this way, especially because it is also part of the PlayStation Plus Collection on PlayStation 5.

\n

This one hurts a little bit more because those who own the digital version of the game can't roll the game's patches back.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
\n

This is another one that feels like it should have been done a long time ago. The Uncharted series is one of PlayStation's most beloved franchises, and the incredibly impressive cinematic gameplay deserves to be experienced at a locked 60.

\n

What's most baffling about A Thief's End, however, is that the original three Uncharted games already run at 60fps in the Uncharted Collection. It feels odd to think of the performance discrepancy if fans play the series chronologically on their PS5.

Bloodborne
\n

You had to know this would be at the top. There truly is no other game that deserves, nay, demands, to be upgraded for PS5 with a 4K 60fps patch. I, like so many others, have gotten the Bloodborne platinum and spent many hours more just mainly mucking about in Yharnham.

\n

But it is absolutely heartbreaking to play it on PS5 because what we know the performance could be.

\n

The fast-paced, push-forward combat in Bloodborne makes it exactly the kind of game set to take advantage of a locked, high frame rate, yet it still runs at 30fps on the PS5.

"},{"image":"https://res.cloudinary.com/lmn/image/upload/c_limit,h_360,w_640/e_sharpen:100/f_auto,fl_lossy,q_auto/v1/gameskinnyc/9/6/0/960x0-0292c.jpg","thumb":"https://res.cloudinary.com/lmn/image/upload/c_limit,h_85,w_97/e_sharpen:100/f_auto,fl_lossy,q_auto/v1/gameskinnyc/9/6/0/960x0-0292c.jpg","type":"slide","id":"219807","description":"

You may have missed it, but Insomniac's reboot of the classic Ratchet and Clank series, which released in 2016, has just recently received a PS5 update that lets the game run at a buttery-smooth 60fps at 4K. The update makes a world of difference when it comes to gameplay, and as a long-time fan of the series, it is lovely to see how much care and love Insomniac continues to put into this series.

\n

What's more interesting than Ratchet and Clank getting such an upgrade was what Digital Foundry found after performing a deep dive into the patch. They found that while the patch itself was developed in March 2021, it's built on a legacy SDK model.

\n

This is significant because if Ratchet and Clank can be upgraded through a patch based on an old build, the potential for other PS4 to receive the same treatment is a lot higher now.

\n

With that in mind, what other games desperately need to have that same switch flicked? Here are eight that should receive a PS5 upgrade sooner instead of later.

5 Best Songs from Games in 2017 https://www.gameskinny.com/b2xmu/5-best-songs-from-games-in-2017 https://www.gameskinny.com/b2xmu/5-best-songs-from-games-in-2017 Tue, 05 Dec 2017 14:19:42 -0500 Lauren Harris

There are a good bit of games from 2017 with amazing soundtracks. I'd like to say there are even some from 2016 that I can remember, and they helped bring the beauty and grace to many games. Many people don't realize the effect that music has in giving games the right atmosphere, and in my opinion, if the music doesn’t fit the game, it’s not worth playing. Let's take a look at some of the best songs in video games this year.

Horizon: Zero Dawn -- "Prologue"

The first game we will dive into is Horizon: Zero Dawn, in which our heroine Aloy tries to take back her once-thriving civilization from dangerous machines. "Prologue" has got to be one of the best songs I've heard in the game; it makes you feel hopeful and eager to experience the story. Horizon creates an amazing atmosphere for players, and the enchanting melodies of "Prologue" engulf your mind in serenity. The full soundtrack by artists Joris de Man, The Flight, and other artists is available on Amazon

Gravity Rush 2 -- "Storm and Triumph"

Gravity Rush 2 is another good game with a strong melody from the company Japan Studio. Most of the soundtrack made me feel like I was racing against time. You play as Kat, a girl who defies gravity with the help of her mysterious cat. You must save the world of Heksville after it is sucked into a vortex that leads to another world. The music really adds to the open-world freedom of flying without gravity. "Storm and Triumph" is a good song that I feel brings out the game's purpose. Kohei Tanaka brings a very upbeat song that flows well with the fighting and adventures Kat faces on her journey. The Gravity Rush 2 soundtrack is available on Amazon.

NieR: Automata -- "City Ruins (Rays of Light)"

NieR: Automata is about three androids who want to take back their world that’s overrun by dangerous machines. I only got to play the demo of NieR: Automata, but after listening to the full soundtrack, I found "City Ruins (Rays of Light)" to be the perfect melody for this story. In fact, it's got to be my favorite song off the soundtrack. This song brings hope and peace to the game. It’s a nice, slow melody that carries a strong sentimental tone. You can buy the full soundtrack on Amazon.

Persona 5 -- "Phantom"

Persona 5 is about a student who transfers to Shukin Academy. During the school year, he and his friends awaken their personas and become masked vigilantes. Atlus Sound Team has put together a nice and funky collection of songs that retain that classic Persona smoothness while giving us a taste of Tokyo. The song "Phantom" really makes you want to dance. It gives you those classic Persona feels but also brings out the spunky side with a mellow feel. The soundtrack for Persona 5 is available on iTunes.

Mass Effect: Andromeda -- "Heleus"

This deep-space adventure is very popular, and though I haven't played the game, I did listen to the full soundtrack on iTunes. "Heleus" is a very intense song that brings out the mystery of space. This song embodies the courage of the game's characters as they struggle with aliens and other species who try to get in their way. What I like about this song is that it made me feel determined and very interested in this game. Jon Paesano has brought a hopeful and exhilarating sound to Mass Effect: Andromeda. This sound resonates through the whole soundtrack, but "Heleus" is one of my favorites.

---

Songs create their own memories, and the good ones stick with you no matter how many you hear. When a game maintains the same style of music, such as the case with the Persona series, it makes you feel like you're a part of the family, and you know what to expect. But with the games I have never played, hearing their soundtracks for the first time makes me want to dive deep into their stories. I can't wait to see what next year will bring.

What type of game music do you enjoy? Let us know in the comments below.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

\n
Switch, Wii U
\n

Naturally, any list of best sandbox games so far this year has to include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. One of the things that makes this game stand out as a sandbox game is the fact that it even is a sandbox game -- a tremendous departure from the formulaic, linear Zelda games of yesteryear.

\n

After completing a few required scenarios, players can immediately race to the game's final moments, scour the land for the best equipment possible, find and complete a multitude of shrine quests and uncover new abilities in the process, or delve into the game's story. Series fans would probably be as interested in the last option as anything else, but the game is still completely accessible for newcomers on account of it being set so far in the future from any events in any other Zelda game.

\n

Exploration and puzzle solving are no longer a "paint-by-numbers" affair either. As Nintendo frequently mentioned in the leadup to the game's launch, there are as many ways to solve a puzzle as there are players.

Lego Worlds

\n
PS4, Xbox One, Steam
\n

Minecraft might be the most well-known sandbox video game, but Lego has definitely been letting people build their imaginations for a lot longer. And that's exactly what you do in Lego Worlds -- build anything you can imagine.

\n

In a combination of Minecraft and Scribblenauts, Lego Worlds unleashes you into a series of creative and bizarre worlds, all connected to each other somehow. You might start in a modern city setting, then end up in a haunted forest, only to leave the forest and head into an arid desert.

\n

Like Minecraft, you are free -- freer than any previous Lego game -- to create anything and everything you want. There's a tutorial mode to help get you started, or you can bypass this completely and play in sandbox mode. Like Scribblenauts, there is a story to be found in all of this -- but it's not anything too in-depth, and there are plenty of side missions to complete as well. As with any good sandbox game, it's up to you how to handle them.  You can work within the lines, or you can completely break the game with some creative creations and work your way around the lines.

Slime Rancher

\n
Steam
\n

Slime Rancher combines a variety of different genres into one unique package. Playing as Beatrix LeBeau, you arrive at an abandoned ranch a thousand light years away from your home planet and must work to restore it to glory -- much like the setup in earlier Harvest Moon games (well, minus the space travel).

\n

However, you won't be taking care of your usual animals here. As the name suggests, this game is all about finding, taming, battling, and raising slimes. Slimes come in a huge variety of forms and colors, all with their own characteristics that require specific methods of care to thrive. Of course, that means scouring the world to find what you need for your ranch and slimes to grow and prosper, and Slime Rancher offers a wide, quite attractive world to explore using your handy vacpack -- a vacuum that also happens to be your backpack and can act a lot like Samus Aran's arm cannon too.

\n

There's not much story to be found here, which leaves you free to focus on making your ranch the best it can be using whatever methods work. (And with the help of our Slime Rancher guides, you're sure to get started on the right foot.)

Yonder: The Cloudcatcher Chronicles

\n
Steam
\n

Yonder: The Cloudcatcher Chronicles is an interesting game. Compared to most games, there's not a lot to do. It's almost impossible to die, there is no combat, and the story itself is rather thin -- involving a creeping darkness invading the islands of Gemea and the need to recover the Sprites that can repel it.

\n

However, you don't really need to pursue the story, if you don't want to. The real fun comes from exploring and interacting with the environment, along with using materials to craft items that help you explore further. There are plenty of side quests too, along with farming elements, that your crafting will help make easier.

\n

Yonder shows off a different side of gaming -- the more relaxed and comforting side that helps you unwind after a stressful day. And that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Gravity Rush 2

\n
PS4
\n

Gravity Rush 2 improves on its predecessor in almost every way. The world is more expansive, you have new abilities with which you can manipulate gravity, a multitude of quests has been added, and you can freely develop your own combat style.

\n

It's difficult to determine what is more rewarding in Gravity Rush 2. The missions themselves are quite varied, but flying around to explore the vast world and its unique aesthetic is a pleasure in itself. Fans of the first game will likely think the story is the best feature, though, since it ties up many of the loose ends left by the first.

\n

What makes this game special as a sandbox game is the fact that, despite having a definite overarching story, you are pretty much free to choose how you go about finding and completing the chapter missions. However, the combat is rather rewarding as well, since players can develop a variety of fighting styles -- all of which make excellent use of the key gravity manipulation mechanic -- to suit whatever situation comes their way.

RiME

\n
PS4, Xbox One, Steam
\n

RiME is an atmospheric puzzle game that offers a great gameplay experience despite having no dialogue. The world itself is very open, and players are free to pursue or ignore important and optional quests as they please. It's fairly easy to ignore the optional ones, though most of the required puzzles do give the player a good deal of guidance in one form or another.

\n

However, puzzles are only part of the adventure here. The visual style makes exploring every inch of the island -- and trying to achieve the trophies -- as much fun as progressing through the game itself. Yet you will want to progress and see your adventure through to the end.

\n

One of the best things about RiME is actually the story -- which is interesting, considering the fact that it only really starts to become a focus towards the game's end. There won't be any spoilers here, but it certainly gives you a different perspective on the game and protagonist.

Kingdoms and Castles

\n
Steam
\n

Kingdoms and Castles is a simulator that places you in the role of a ruler who must decide how best to build up their kingdom. It offers you plenty of options for doing so, along with plenty of challenges.

\n

Your most basic goal is keeping your people happy -- partly because that's what good rulers do, and partly so that you can tax them without fear of revolt. You're also responsible for keeping them fed and healthy, which means allocating resources to farming, to better buildings, and so on. But in return, you also attract new residents to exploit -- er, care for.

\n

There are other challenges too, including marauding Vikings and dragons that mercilessly sack your kingdom if you aren't militarily prepared for them. The biggest pleasure, though, comes from building and managing the layout of your kingdom itself, and the layout of things like towers and walls that change based on how you stack your tiles and choose to build.

\n

Ultimately, how and where you build your kingdom determines your success or demise. It may not have quite the depth of Civilization, but Civilization also doesn't have dragons…

Horizon: Zero Dawn

\n
PS4
\n

Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of the best-rated games of this year so far, let alone being among the best sandbox games. It's not difficult to see why, either -- it's a gorgeous-looking game with a lot to offer.

\n

Set in the distant future, where humans have reverted to living in tribes and machine monsters run wild, this game puts you in the role of Aloy -- a motherless outcast from a matriarchal society. You discover technology that you can harness to hunt and control the monsters you encounter as you traverse the world around you and attempt to unravel the many tangled threads of politics and warfare.

\n

Or you can do none of that, because you're also free to pursue sidequests, wander the world, or master your combat techniques -- and it's the latter that makes Horizon Zero Dawn really shine. Combat in this game involves learning the patterns and behaviors of various machines in a way reminiscent of Xenoblade Chronicles, and Aloy has no shortage of weapons and abilities to help her on the way to victory.

\n

Of course, the combat is helped along quite a bit by the game's visuals. Dark, yet rich, they go a long way in pulling you into this world and making it believable -- and interested parties will also find a lot to enjoy in the game's themes of what it means to be human and the role of technology, among other things not often explored in video games.

Gravity Rush 2 Guide: How to Get Dusty Tokens & What They're For https://www.gameskinny.com/eyj6a/gravity-rush-2-guide-how-to-get-dusty-tokens-what-theyre-for https://www.gameskinny.com/eyj6a/gravity-rush-2-guide-how-to-get-dusty-tokens-what-theyre-for Sat, 28 Jan 2017 09:00:31 -0500 Jonathan Moore

Named after Kat’s faithful and stalwart cat-companion, Dusty Tokens are a type of currency in Gravity Rush 2 that allows players to purchase in-game items such as emotes, costumes, and even certain talismans (which are buffs that help the player in myriad ways). Not only will some of these items help players progress through the game faster and more efficiently, but they'll also make you look fly doing it.

So where can you find them? Let’s take a quick look.

How to Get Dusty Tokens in Gravity Rush 2

There are three different ways you can get Dusty Tokens in Gravity Rush 2:

  1. Treasure Hunts
  2. Challenge Missions
  3. Photo Mode

Depending on your playstyle and gaming acumen, one or another of these methods may prove a faster or slower means of grinding Dusty Tokens (which you WILL have to do if you want some of the more coveted top-tier rewards).

Dusty Tokens in Treasure Hunts

To access Treasure Hunts (which are online scavenger hunts of sorts), open your map and look for the online event icon. Go to the specified location, and you’ll be presented with a picture clue. This clue is supposed to help you find the treasure chest that’s hidden somewhere in the area (but depending on the picture taker's eye for detail, these can be hit or miss).

Find the area shown in the clue, and you’ll find the treasure chest, netting you three Dusty Tokens. You’ll then be prompted to take a picture of your own to help other players find the same chest. If another player successfully uses your picture to find the chest, you’ll be rewarded with another handful of Dusty Tokens.

Tip: You can also access active Treasure Hunts by pausing the game and opening the “Announcements” tab in the main menu. There, all of the active Treasure Hunts should be listed. Click the one in which you want to participate, and you’ll be automatically transported there.

Dusty Tokens in Challenge Missions

To access Challenge Missions, open your map and find the green cluster-of-circles icon in the game world. These challenges pit you against other players in Gravity Rush 2's world, where you’ll be tasked with completing certain objectives within a particular timeframe. Once completed, you’ll have the opportunity to upload your results to GR2’s servers, where other players can challenge your time.

If other players cannot best your record, you’ll be rewarded with Dusty Tokens each time. That said, it’s best to get the fastest times you possibly can for each Challenge Mission if you plan to go this route for Dusty Tokens.

Dusty Tokens in Photo Mode

The third and final way you can obtain Dusty Tokens is by using GR2’s photo mode. To access this mode, press up on the Dualshock 4’s D-pad. Once in photo mode, you can take pictures of anything you like. Upload these pictures to Gravity Rush 2’s servers like so:

  1. Press the bottom right corner of the Dualshock’s touchpad.
  2. Select a picture from your picture roll by pressing X.
  3. Press the OPTIONS button.
  4. Select yes from the prompt.

Once you’ve done this, your picture will be stored on GR2’s public servers and available for any players to review. If your photo gets a good review, then you’ll get a small handful of Dusty Tokens for your efforts.

What Can You Unlock With Dusty Tokens in Gravity Rush 2?

Once you’ve obtained enough Dusty Tokens, you’ll be able to unlock the following items in this specific order:

  • Upside-down Man (Photo Item): 10 Tokens
  • Salute (Emote): 100 Tokens
  • Worker (Costume): 300 Tokens
  • Miner’s Technique (Talisman): 500 Tokens
  • Traffic Cone (Photo Item): 1,000 Tokens
  • School Uniform 1.0 (Costume): 2,000 Tokens
  • Fisherman’s Recipe (Talisman): 3,000 Tokens
  • You There (Emote): 4,000 Tokens
  • Shifter 1.0 (Costume): 5,000 Tokens
  • Unlimited Potential (Talisman): 6,000 Tokens

Gravity Rush 2 Quick Guide: Farming Precious Gems Faster https://www.gameskinny.com/ymohb/gravity-rush-2-quick-guide-farming-precious-gems-faster https://www.gameskinny.com/ymohb/gravity-rush-2-quick-guide-farming-precious-gems-faster Thu, 26 Jan 2017 06:25:56 -0500 Jonathan Moore

Precious gems are the lifeblood of Gravity Rush 2, and they’re (mostly) everywhere in every zone of the game. But what’s really important is that they are the currency by which you upgrade all of Kat’s abilities -- helping you hit harder, slide faster, evade more efficiently, and lay the smack down harder with stupid-powerful special attacks.

But even though precious gems are plentiful in GR2, not all areas of the game are built for mining (or finding) them efficiently.

There are going to be times that you are grinding precious gems, and that can be tedious and extremely time-consuming. That’s definitely not what we want. So, to help you level up faster and get the most out the ore deposits you see throughout Gravity Rush 2’s vibrant, chaotic world, here are some really quick tips on how to farm precious gems much, much faster.

Your Missions, Should You Choose to Accept Them

There are three types of missions that will net you precious gems in Gravity Rush 2: main story missions, challenge missions, and mining missions. We’ll get to mining missions shortly, which are a bit different and even more lucrative than story and challenge missions …

But regardless of which missions you choose, there’s a high likelihood that you will find outcroppings of Gravity Ore scattered throughout the zone in which your mission takes place. These Gravity Ore outcroppings are literally everywhere: on the ground, on the sides of buildings or cliffs, and even underneath outcroppings on various islands (the landmasses that populate many of GR2’s zones).

Tip: Look for Gravity Ore everywhere!

Depending on which mission you’ve chosen (you can go back to each mission type and replay it after you’ve initially unlocked it), make sure to focus on mining ore before taking out any enemies.

Why? Because once certain mobs are eliminated in certain missions, the mission can either end or the player can (sometimes) pushed through the area, leaving precious gems behind. Of course, this more passive tactic depends on what difficulty you’re playing Gravity Rush 2, but even at harder difficulties, certain enemies are a breeze to avoid until the time is right.

Tip: Challenge missions often provide increased gem bonuses over story missions. However, the prizes for these challenge missions are based on a bronze, silver, and gold tiering system, meaning that your performance decides the number of precious gems you receive at the end of each challenge.

And more importantly, the precious gems these challenges pay out upon completion can only be obtained one time. Challenge missions cannot be farmed for more gems. So, whatever rank you receive on challenges is directly linked to the amount of (one-time) gems you’ll receive from that specific challenge mission.

But the Absolute Best Way Farm More Gems Faster is to Do Mining Missions

A special kind of errand, mining missions are those that you can embark upon in GR2 to specifically mine precious gems. To access mining missions, visit Misai at the Banga Settlement’s big mining boat (pictured above). Go up the stairs to the main deck and take an immediate left. Talk to Misai, and a menu of the available mining missions pops up.

Here you’ll want to pay special attention to both the mining population (in the bottom right-hand corner of each mining site’s tab) and the gravity concentration in each mining location.

The higher the current mining population in a zone, the more lucrative that zone will be for mining. This means you’ll maximize your time and effort and get more precious gems faster.

Tip: You can get precious gems outside of Gravity Rush 2's missions, as many can be found littered throughout GR2’s many locations. However, collecting gems in this fashion is supplementary to mining and will provide you minimum overall value to spend toward Kat’s skills.

The Art of Farming Faster, Young Grasshopper

Don’t just rely on Kat’s basic attacks to mine ore for precious gems. Instead, mix things up by sprinkling in gravity kicks and stasis fields to expedite the process. These abilities are particularly useful when you’re trying to acquire gems from awkwardly positioned ore deposits, such as those on the sides of islands or underneath outcroppings.

Using these abilities will save you a lot of time because you won’t have to shift and land at peculiar and awkward angles, which is sometimes a major hassle. Just make sure you’re keeping an eye on your gravity meter and that it doesn’t deplete when you’re over a chasm or bottomless pit of sky.

To maximize your time even more, always look ahead and keep Kat and the camera moving. Always look past your current ore target to the next target in line. This helps you strategize your movements and ability usage ahead of time. Small ore deposits often take only one hit to break open, while larger ore deposits take 3-4 hits to break open. This too can help you plan your movement through an ore field and between islands.

Tip: Look for gems that look like squares when you're on your mining escapades. These particular gems are worth 50 precious gems, while the typical crystal-shaped precious gems are only worth one gem.

In Case You Missed It, Sony's Gravity Rush Anime Has Aired https://www.gameskinny.com/8enu3/in-case-you-missed-it-sonys-gravity-rush-anime-has-aired https://www.gameskinny.com/8enu3/in-case-you-missed-it-sonys-gravity-rush-anime-has-aired Mon, 26 Dec 2016 23:54:05 -0500 Danny21_2396

Gravity Rush surprised everyone when it first graced gamers back in 2012. As one of the first few titles for the Vita, Gravity Rush showed what the handheld was capable of. Unfortunately, not many games managed to repeat Gravity Rush's success, and the handheld slowly withered away.

Gravity Rush later enjoyed a more beautiful rendition on Sony's current gen console, the PS4. Gamers have also been patiently waiting for the sequel, which promises to be just as beautiful as the original, especially since Sony has long announced that the game will come with an anime accompaniment. And you can see that anime, called Gravity Rush - Overture, on Youtube today.

More specifically, from now you can watch the anime on Playstation's official Youtube channel. Each episode of the series is about seven to nine minutes long, and will try to bridge the gap between the first and second game. It will also be a quick refresher for those who may forget some details from the first game, since Gravity Rush came out about four years ago.

The anime will feature the game's two protagonists, Kat and Raven, living about their daily life, which includes several action scenes involving the pesky Nevi. It is reported that half of each episodes will be filled with fighting scenes, animated by Studio Khara, who some of you might have already known from Rebuild of Evangelion.

It also comes without saying that the anime will be sub-only, and we can expect it will be that way for a long time. If you're waiting for Gravity Rush 2, which will available in January next year, you may want to watch this anime first, though you don't have to -- the anime won't have any big plot revelation.

Gravity Rush 2 Delayed; Sony Offers Free DLC https://www.gameskinny.com/e9thq/gravity-rush-2-delayed-sony-offers-free-dlc https://www.gameskinny.com/e9thq/gravity-rush-2-delayed-sony-offers-free-dlc Thu, 06 Oct 2016 03:16:03 -0400 Brawler1993

Bad news for Gravity Rush fan, as Gravity Rush 2, the sequel to the hit PS Vita title, is being delayed for an extra month. Originally intended for a December release, the game will now come out on both the Vita and PS4 in January 2017. Game director Keiichiro Toyama, in an update on the official PlayStation Blog, stated:

"Gravity Rush 2 is the conclusion of Kat’s journey, so we want players to have enough time to dive deep into her story. In addition, as a lot of work went into online features that allow for asynchronous player interaction, we want as many people as possible playing the title at the same time. Thus, after careful deliberation, we have decided to change the release date. Gravity Rush 2 will now launch on January 20, 2017.

I would like to apologize to all those players anxiously awaiting Gravity Rush 2. After four years of development making a title we are very proud of, we want to release it at the very best time."

It's not all bad news, though. In response, Sony will now be releasing a premium DLC pack for free, which will contain an "additional story" that's set before the events of the game.

In the meantime, fans can also look forward to a tie-in anime that bridges the gap between the two games. Titled Gravity Rush: The Animation ~ Overture ~, it's being produced by Studio Khara, which has also worked on various Evangelion and Studio Ghibli films.

Gravity Rush 2 trailer brings a western release date into orbit https://www.gameskinny.com/xxdsg/gravity-rush-2-trailer-brings-a-western-release-date-into-orbit https://www.gameskinny.com/xxdsg/gravity-rush-2-trailer-brings-a-western-release-date-into-orbit Thu, 21 Jul 2016 06:24:30 -0400 FlameKurosei

The PlayStation 4 exclusive Gravity Rush 2 (known as Gravity Daze 2 in Japan) finally has a release date for western gamers, revealed via its "NEW HEIGHTS" trailer.

For those unaware, Gravity Rush 2 is a direct sequel to the original Gravity Rush. It continues the story of Kat, a girl with no memories who meets with a mysterious star-studded feline named Dusty. The cat gives her the ability to manipulate --you guessed it-- gravity.

"Meow!"

Struggling to uncover her hazy past, she now works as a "shifter", a gravity-defying heroine of Hekseville, alongside her friend Raven:

Together, Raven (left) and Kat (right) protect the civilians from bizarre monsters that plague the city known as the Nevi.

In terms of gameplay, a shifter manipulates gravity's position to steer herself in any direction. For example, Kat can turn gravity sideways, causing a building's "wall" to become the "ground".

For more visuals on the Lunar/Jupiter styles, click here for the 2015 Paris Games Week trailer demonstrating the new mechanics!

Moreover, as a new gameplay mechanic in Gravity Rush 2, Kat can also manipulate 2 additional styles of gravity, known as "Lunar" and "Jupiter".

The Lunar form of gravity makes Kat lighter and able to maneuver more easily in the air with fast strokes. In contrast, the Jupiter form of gravity makes Kat heavier, allowing her to slam down with a slow, powerful impact.

These two new styles expand on the original gravity-manipulated gameplay, allowing players to have more variation and choice with tackling objectives.

As shown in the "NEW HEIGHTS" trailer, Gravity Rush 2 releases for the west on December 2, 2016 exclusively for the PlayStation 4. For more details on Gravity Rush 2, check out its gameplay reveal for more information on Kat's new abilities, here on GameSkinny!

Gravity Rush 2 coming to PS4! https://www.gameskinny.com/owlsl/gravity-rush-2-coming-to-ps4 https://www.gameskinny.com/owlsl/gravity-rush-2-coming-to-ps4 Wed, 28 Oct 2015 04:16:22 -0400 mrivera269

Here's some exciting news for Gravity Rush fans: Gravity Rush 2 will be released exclusively for the PS4.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Gravity Rush series, it was a PlayStation Vita original. The first game followed a young lost girl named Kat who awoke in a mysterious floating town. Kat had the ability to manipulate gravity, which allowed for her to hover and zip around the map effortlessly. These mechanics were complimented with beautiful colorful anime style artwork.

If you don’t have a Vita handy to try out the original, don’t worry. You can pick up the remastered game when it comes to PS4 in February 2016.

In the upcoming Gravity Rush 2, Kat will have a new arsenal of gravity-shifting abilities and combat mechanics. She will be able to use three styles of gravity shifting: Normal, Lunar, and Jupiter. Lunar will reduce gravity and make Kat light and quicker, while Jupiter will increase gravity to make Kat heavier and slower, but gives her extra strength. You’ll be able to shift between these forms seamlessly.

There will also be a tag battle system which will team you up with an AI-controller partner to tackle more difficult tasks. As of right now, the only ally shown is Raven.

You can watch the gameplay reveal trailer below. Stay tuned for more Gravity Rush 2 coverage on GameSkinny.
