Games Journalists Publish up to 27% More Articles About PlayStation Than About Xbox

A new report says game journalists talked the most about the PlayStation brand in 2014.

According to a report produced by ICO Partners about online articles on video games, online news outlets talked most about the PlayStation brand in 2014, with the next most popular being the Xbox brand.

The report contained no data on the Nintendo brand.

The PlayStation brand beat out the Xbox brand by nearly 100,000 articles, with similar differences reported between the popularity of PS4 and Xbox One articles. These differences were not limited to current-gen consoles, however; the numbers also show PlayStation 3 beat the Xbox 360 in terms of online articles published.

The report also included numbers for Android and iOS, with Android coming out ahead by a narrow margin. According to the report, Occulus and Ouya had the smallest numbers.

Most Mentioned Games of 2014

The report also included statistics concerning the most popularly discussed game titles of 2014, with Titanfall and Minecraft leading the top ten, followed closely by Destiny and Assassin's Creed: Unity. Rounding out the list of most-mentioned games were Battlefield 4 and Far Cry 4.
