Check out Dark Souls III’s elaborate and gruesome E3 display

Bandai Namco's Dark Souls III display at E3 outshines all the others with gruesomeness and dramatic effect.

Dark Souls certainly has the reputation of violence and gore.  Bandai Namco has made it clear that they are aware of and are happy to capitalize on this with their elaborate and gruesome display for Dark Souls III.

The display consists of two statues, one lying flat on his back, impaled by a sword.  A jet of blood spurts out from the wound, straight up into the air like a fountain.  Beside him kneels the second statue.  (Appearing to be male) he has both hands held up in front of his face, in a pose of either horror, despair, or both.

This statement was met with the hearty agreement of many of his Twitter followers. The overall visual effect goes beyond simple gore and captures some of the visual aesthetic of the games that is so valued.  There is an air of melancholy and grim artistry.

It seems safe to say that the display served its purpose as an eye-catching advertisement for the game.

With this display on top of the gameplay demonstration, Dark Souls III has made an impression and anticipation is high.

Dark Souls III will be released for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC in early 2016.
