Is Buildbox the Game Development Software of the Future?

BuildBox promises to be "the future of gaming," with a new game development software.

There are a lot of pieces of game development software out there, and even quite a few that promise that you don’t need coding (I’m looking at you Twine), but Buildbox is trying to differentiate itself in this market before it’s public launch.

The game promises a “unique user interface” that will allow someone to easily customize and create their game, even sell their game across multiple platforms without previous experience. It’s a tall order, and a surprisingly complicated claim.

As someone involved in game development, I’ve seen first hand the complexity that goes into creating games. Usually you need a team of incredibly talented individuals across multiple disciplines to even think about having a successful project. Having a great idea isn’t even half the battle — it’s usually the easiest part. With that in mind, it should be exciting to see if Buildbox can live up to its claim and actually produce a game development engine that anyone can use, and monetize.
