The holidays are here, and now that you've probably gathered everyone else's gifts, it's time to take care of yours truly. So open your wallet yet again, and embrace the true meaning of the holidays: every winter game sale happening at the same time. Now is the time to snag the hottest games for cheap, try your luck at a game roulette, or even grab some games for free. And as soon as that's over, you can lock away your cash and make a New Year's resolution to never buy that many games at once again ... at least until the Steam Summer Sale begins.

GOG Winter Sale 2017

As we write this, the GOG winter sale is in day eight of its run, scheduled to run all the way through to December 26. Right now you can get all the best new games and indie favorites like Cuphead and Darkest Dungeon for a discount (15% and 60%, respectively), but of course, lots of love goes to the older games as well, with classics like the original Fallout and King's Quest games getting a steep price drop.

Notable info and freebies:
  • As is their custom, GOG is selling "Mystery Games" for $3 a pop, which draw from a pool of over 200 games worth over $3, with a guarantee of no doubles. (Want to get a sense of what's up for grabs? Head over to this forum thread, where users are pooling their info to create a pretty comprehensive list of possibilities.)
  • Spending over $15 during the sale gives you access to tactical Western Hard West, while reaching $40 unlocks the space strategy game Master of Orion.
  • Throughout the sale, GOG is holding game giveaways, which you can grab just by visiting the site and adding the game to your library. Thus far the site has given away Grim Fandango: Remastered and is currently giving away Oxenfree. Keep an eye out on new freebies as the sale continues.

PlayStation Store Winter Sale 2017

This week kicked off the PS Store Holiday Sale, which promises five weeks of savings. Every week will put a different selection of games on sale, from AAA giants to indie darlings. The list for just the first week of sales is massive and includes games for PS4, PS3, and even Vita (sometimes Sony throws Vita a bone). Week one's highlights are Overwatch: GOTY Edition down to $35.99 ($29.99 for PS+ members), TellTale's The Wolf Among Us for $8.74 ($6.24 for PS+), and a handful of anime-inspired games like One Piece: Burning Blood and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, down from $59.99 to $14.99.

Notable info and freebies:
  • The sale boasts up to 50% off -- or up to 60% for PS+ members -- but a few prices have dropped even lower for both. So if you're not a Plus member, now might be a good time to give that free trial a spin.
  • Don't wait to buy a good deal: some offers will only be available for a week. Check the individual title you're interested in to find out when the sale on it is ending.

Steam Winter Sale 2017

The Steam winter sale is here and as usual the PC gaming giant's put nearly its entire catalog on sale. The steam winter sale of 2017 ends January 4 at 10 AM PST, but the deals will not rotate -- that means you can safely wait until after you get your Christmas money to buy those 50 games off your wishlist at a discount. With games up to 90% off (seriously, you can get games like Portal 2 for $1.99 right now!), you can get both indies and huge games for a pretty steep drop.

Notable info and freebies:

  • As always, Steam is having it's end of the year awards. Come back every day to vote for the best game in categories like "Choices Matter" and "Mom's Spaghetti."
  • The Steam awards provides a few ways to earn event trading cards, which you can sell on the market, turn into gems, or compile into a special 2017 Steam Awards avatar. Ways to earn event trading cards are: voting in the daily award vote, for ever $10 you spend in the store, and for browsing your queue (up to 3 times a day). These cards expire, so make sure you use them before February 4.

Green Man Gaming Christmas Giveaway 2017

While there is no official winter sale up yet at UK-based Green Man Gaming, the site is holding a massive giveaway for Christmas. Purchasing anything for over $2 from their large catalog of PC games automatically enters you to win the 17 best games of the year, as well as an Intel Core i7 Processor. The games include Nier: Automata, Cuphead, XCOM 2, and other heavy hitters, and the entire winning package is worth over $1,000. Three winners will be chosen at random and announced on January 8.

Xbox Winter Sale 2017

There's no word yet on what Microsoft has lined up for their gaming consoles this winter, but we'll include it here as soon as we know.

Stay tuned to GameSkinny for all the latest news on this season's holiday sales, and let us know in the comments section which sales or games have you most excited.

PlayStation 4 to Receive More Jak and Daxter Tue, 05 Dec 2017 12:18:21 -0500 TheGreatManzini

Sony made the announcement in a blog post that all of the titles in the beloved Jak and Daxter series will be available on the PlayStation Store for digital download starting Dec. 6th.

Jak and Daxter is back! on PS4!

Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy has been available for several months, but Jak II, Jak 3, and Jak X: Combat Racing will all be available for $14.99 individually or as a bundle for $39.99. PlayStation reps have stated in the forums that they are working on releasing a bundle for those who have already purchased the first game in the series.

Jak X combat racing will not support online play.

The PlayStation reps have also shared a little about how the game will look and feel. They did not replace any textures, so the graphics quality will be upscaled to 1080p, and frame rates will be improved where possible. Furthermore, Jak X: Combat Racing will not support online play.

PS4 Legacy Theme resembles PS2 dashboard

PlayStation is also releasing a new dashboard theme to help sweeten those ‘member berries. The Legacy Theme, designed by Truant Pixel, will closely resemble the PlayStation 2 dashboard and will be available for $2.99.

The Best Video Game Deals Going on Now You (May) Not Know About Sun, 11 Dec 2016 10:54:35 -0500 Jonathan Moore

As the holidays draw ever closer, more and more retailers -- and even several gaming companies like Sony and Microsoft -- are getting into the holiday spirit by putting games, peripherals and even console bundles on sale. And since we know that you can’t be everywhere at once, we’ve done the digging for you and uncovered a few gaming deals you might not have been aware of.

From Wal-Mart to Target to the PlayStation Store and beyond, here are some of the best video game deals going on right now.

Target – Skylanders Imaginators Starter Pack for PS4, Xbox One and WiiU

Rating: 4/5

Sale price: $39.99

Buy it on:

Normally priced at $79.99 for all three current-gen systems, this sale is a no-brainer, especially for toy and video game lovers. Melding some of the very best mechanics from RPGs and action-adventure games, Skylanders Imaginators is rated E for Everyone, is hyper kid-friendly and is a game that everyone in the family can enjoy.

Essential reading: Skylanders Imaginators Brings Imagination to Life

But keep in mind: Skylanders Imaginators is a game that requires real-life toys to play. As this is the game’s starter pack, some areas and features of the game will be locked until you purchase and use other Skylanders figures.

These additional figures cost between $12.99 and $19.99, with many on sale via Target right now for $14.99.

Wal-Mart – Preowned Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Games

Back in 2014, Wal-Mart began accepting video game trade-ins, becoming a direct competitor with industry giant Gamestop in the process. Today, the big box-store has one of the largest collections of used video games among the companies that engage in the enterprise.

This holiday, Wal-Mart is rolling back prices on many of those games for the Xbox One and PS4, including:

  • Alien Isolation ($11.99)
  • Assassin’s Creed Unity ($11.88)
  • Batman: Arkham Knight ($16.88)
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare ($11.88)
  • Sniper Elite III ($11.88)
  • And many more

Essential reading: Tips and Tricks for Gaming on a Budget

So, whether you’re an FPS fan, an RPG nerd or a daredevil ridge-racer, there’s most likely a game for you (or your special someone) on the list. What’s more, Wal-Mart is pretty solid about providing used games in excellent condition while also giving you a pretty good monetary deal in return. Check out more of Wal-Mart’s Preowned Games Deals here.

The Microsoft Xbox Store – Games, Consoles, Peripherals and Accessories

Looking to grab that special someone one of the best gaming machines on the planet this holiday season? If so, the Microsoft  Xbox store is one the first places you should look.

With deals on everything from some of this year’s hottest Xbox-exclusive games to can’t-beat Xbox One console bundles and limited-time offers on peripherals, this is going to be one sales event you’re not going to want to miss.

Some of the sale’s highlights are:

  • Save up to 50% on Xbox One games
  • Save 33% on Gears of War 4
  • $30 off Turtle Beach 420x Headset
  • $249 Xbox One console
  • And more

Head over to the Microsoft Store now to take advantage of these deals, which end Dec. 31.

The PlayStation Store – Digital Game Downloads

In recent months, Sony’s PlayStation Store has been having some truly insane sales -- many of which have even rivaled (and still rival) Steam deals, and we all know how awesomely ludicrous those can be.

Beginning last week and running through the month of December, the PlayStation Store is currently hosting its yearly Holiday Sale, which means prices are getting slashed on some of the year’s best games -- many of which are Sony exclusives.

Each week brings a brand new set of games and DLC to the price-chopping table. Right now (if you act fast) you’ll have access to deep discounts on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PS Vita games like:

  • Borderlands: The Handsome Collection
  • Dishonored: Definitive Edition
  • Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance
  • Batman: The TellTale Series Season Pass
  • OceanHorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
  • Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Trilogy
  • God of War: Chains of Olympus
  • And many more

Each week of deals expires after the end of the week, starting on Tuesdays. So, for example, this week’s deals will expire on Tuesday, Dec. 13. On that day, a new set of deals will hit the store.

What’s more, the PS Store holiday sale also has some truly great deals on digital movie downloads -- with some of the year’s best and most recent films getting the discount treatment.

Head over to the official PlayStation Store to take advantage of these quickly disappearing deals.

Best Buy – WiiU and Nintendo 3DS Game Deals

For a long time now, Best Buy has consistently had some of the best video game deals and offers when it comes to holiday shopping. Each year, the electronics super giant has some type of can’t-beat BOGO (Buy One Get One) offer, and this year’s now different.

Enter Best Buy’s Buy One, Get One 40% off deal for WiiU and Nintendo 3DS games. That’s right, this deal is valid for two systems. What’s even better? You can mix and match games and still get the deal (we personally tested it out by adding both a WiiU and Nintendo 3DS game to our cart. At checkout, the WiiU game received the 40% discount).

Essential reading: 11 Best Games to Buy Alongside Your New 3DS

Here’s a list of some of the games currently eligible for the sale:

  • Bayonetta 2
  • Super Mario 3D World
  • Minecraft: WiiU Edition
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker HD
  • Super Mario Maker
  • The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heros
  • Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon
  • And many more

Unfortunately, it appears that Pokemon Sun and Moon are not eligible for this promotion, which, of course, does make business-sense since each launched only a few weeks ago.

However, head over to Best Buy right now and take advantage of these still-awesome deals while you can.

And that’s it. for now. Stay tuned to GameSkinny throughout the holidays as we’ll be updating this list as more deals become available!

Are there other games deals you’ve seen that should be on this list? Which of these will you be taking advantage of? Let us know in the comments below.

Save The World Through Dance With Bound Mon, 29 Aug 2016 07:47:55 -0400 Joshua Harris

On August 16th, development studio Plastic released Bound for the PlayStation 4. Bound is a platformer that comes to life through the avatar of a contemporary dancer. But, players should be aware that -- the dancing is not a gimmick.

The mechanic is meant to deliver a story in a majorly unique way. that is to say Bound's narrative can only be expressed through the interactive experience only video games can offer.

Due to the nature of story, players are invited to explore and discover the aspects of the game at their own stride. To do so, players will interact with the environment in such a way that each play-through is wholly unique to itself.

As such, the developer has asked people not to spoil this game to anyone. After making the game's elements as distinct possible -- Plastic has opted for a modern art aesthetic paired with a classical ballet piano and "electroacoustic" fusion.

Creative Director Michael Staniszewski stated that:

"We have also thought about the hardcore gamers . . . the order that you play affects how the game looks, sounds and behaves."

Bound offers players over 100 different ways to complete the game in addition to the level order contributing to the difficulty as well. For example, taking the shortest route will make the game extremely arduous. Plastic is also going to support VR with a free update for the PS VR when it releases.

Fans of adventure games and art can purchase Bound via the PlayStation Network.

Let The Licht Shine In as Lichtspeer Nears Release Tue, 16 Aug 2016 05:38:27 -0400 Joshua Harris

Lichtspeer, deriving its name from a combination of spear and lightsaber, prides itself on being silly, over-the-top, and outrageously goofy. It will be available in the next few weeks for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita as a digital download from the PlayStation Store.

Slated for a release in September, Lichtspeer pushes its players to survive the oncoming barrage of characters such as "Wurst Zombies", "Evil Spacedwarfs" and "Mechaturtles", in addition to a healthy serving of massive (quite literally) bosses.

Points, however, are going to be crucial towards powering up the player's hero, upgrading the spear into either a hammer or various other abilities like summoning a rain of spears.

Lichtund even has a game mode for players who find the game too tame: Rage Quit Mode. It test the limits of the anyone brave enough to fight the onslaught of quirky creatures and hordes of underlings. A "New Games Plus" mode will be available as well for people wanting to restart the game...with all the weapons they have acquired throughout their last play through.

PlayStation Original Series: POWERS Season 2 is here! Tue, 07 Jun 2016 14:31:39 -0400 ericafeldfeber

PlayStation releases season 2 of their original series POWERS, and you can watch the first episode for free. Episode one is available to everyone on the PlayStation Store, or you can also watch it in full on PlayStation’s YouTube channel. Check out the first episode, here!

And, for those hardcore Powers fans, as was announced last week, After Powers premieres today on Machinima’s YouTube Channel at 8:00pm PT — a weekly talk show discussing the week’s episode with creators and stars of the show. Hosted by Chloe Dykstra, this week’s After Powers will feature executive producer Remí Aubuchon and Olesya Rulin.

Powers, is a series based on the graphic novel series of the same name, following the lives of two homicide detectives- Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim. The detectives are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.”

Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, Powers asks the questions, what if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals?

Starting with episode two, only PlayStation Plus members are able to continue to watch the series for free. New episodes will be released every week until the season finale on July 19.

Season 2 delves into the storyline made famous by the first comic “Who Killed Retro Girl?” as the Powers Division investigates the murder of world-famous superhero Retro Girl and the mysteries that her death uncovers.

In addition to the return of Sharlto Copley (Det. Christian Walker), Susan Heyward (Det. Deena Pilgrim), Logan Browning (Zora) and Olesya Rulin (Calista), season 2 welcomes Michael Madsen (Supershock), Tricia Helfer (Agent Lange) and Wil Wheaton (Conrad Moody).

With Uncharted 4: A Thief's End releasing in just over a month, this is the best time to pre-order a copy of the game, and reap all the benefits that go with it. The game is due to launch on May 10th worldwide, and offers a variety of new features, including a very spiffy multiplayer mode.

Overview of the game

Before we delve into all the pre-order options and the various places you can purchase them, let's have a look at what the game has in store for us.

"Set three years after the events of UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception, Nathan Drake has presumably left the world of fortune hunting behind. However, it doesn’t take long for adventure to come calling when Drake’s brother, Sam, resurfaces seeking his help to save his own life and offering an adventure Drake can’t resist. "

Uncharted 4 features everything you've come to expect from the franchise, and more. With an expanded and improved multiplayer, a variety of cool new features, and some stunning visuals, the game is certainly going be a welcome distraction from the 'real' world. But, just in case you're not as psyched as we are for this game, here's the teaser!

Now that you're all sufficiently psyched, let's look at the various different versions of the game you can purchase.

It goes for $119.99, and is yet again available from Amazon, Best Buy and Gamestop, as well as other retailers. The UK version seems to be unavailable/out of stock at this time, however.

As a sidenote, while the pre-order bonuses don't seem to be mentioned for the two physical collector's bundles, they are listed in the Amazon page, and will likely be available for all pre-order versions of the game.

If you're sold on the idea of buying the game, you can find a handy table below with all the links you'll need to buy it from your favorite retailers.

MLB The Show 16 buying guide Mon, 21 Mar 2016 16:21:50 -0400 Eric Adams

MLB The Show 16 is the latest installment in The Show franchise and -- if it is anything like its predecessors -- it is sure to be a home run. The game revives revamped fan favorite game modes such as Road to the Show and Diamond Dynasty, while also adding new features such as the showtime feature. The showtime feature will allow players to slow down gameplay during an at bat or while fielding the ball. If you started a player in last years game, then you can bring the player to this years edition using the carry over saves feature.

Pre-ordering MLB The Show 16 will have its benefits. Pre-order bonuses include 10 standard packs and 1 player rep rookie card. For those who pre-order on the PlayStation Store, you will also receive three exclusive MLB themed PS4 avatars along with the packs and player rep card. Those who pre-order at GameStop will receive five bonus item packs along with the packs and the rep card.

The game is available in three separate editions, which are detailed below:

Standard Edition - $59.99

  • The basic game

MVP Edition - $69.99

  • 5,000 in stubs
  • 1 sponsor pack
  • 10 standard packs
  • 31 MLB themed PS4 avatars
  • 1 Opening Day pack
  • MVP Edition steel book

Digital Deluxe Edition - $99.99

  • 11,000 in stubs
  • 1 sponsor pack
  • 20 standard packs
  • 31 MLB themed PS4 avatars
  • 3 Opening Day packs

Which of these editions of the game is the one for you? Well, if you don’t really care about card packs or avatars, then you can rule out the $100 Digital Deluxe edition. From there, it is hard to argue with all of the offerings of the MVP edition for just a measly $10 more. I’d say the MVP edition offers you the most value.

MLB The Show 16 releases on PS4 and PS3 on March 29th, 2016.

PS Vita gets a new game: Volume Thu, 07 Jan 2016 10:15:50 -0500 Nick Harshman

Who says the Vita doesn't get new games anymore? Announced in a post on the official PlayStation Blog, Volume was released today for the PlayStation Vita. Already made available last August for Steam and the PlayStation 4, this comes as quite a nice new year's gift for any Vita owners out there or those that got a brand new Vita this past Christmas.

The game - set in a futuristic version of the Robin Hood story - is a stealth action game that is heavily influenced by Metal Gear. In addition to the base game, any buyers can look forward to the level editor packed in as well. A tool that lets the user create and upload their own level designs, players can enjoy playing their own user-created levels or those of the Volume community.

As an bonus, this game is crossbuy! If you already own it on the PS4, then you also get the Vita version for free! Not to mention the already announced Volume: Coda for PlayStation VR that will be available at no extra cost when Sony's VR device releases (supposedly) later this year. So are you Vita owners looking for a new game to play? How about you give Volume a try.

Destiny Silver prices announced - expect to pay up to $20 Tue, 13 Oct 2015 07:31:30 -0400 BlackTideTV

Today, Tuesday, October 13th, we can purchase the brand new in-game Destiny currency: Silver. The special currency must be purchased with real money, but Bungie has deposited a small amount into everyone's account, and will reward players with more between now and December.

Silver will be used to purchase special "personalization" items from the new Eververse Trading Company in the Tower. It is available in three differently-priced bundles.

Keep in mind there is no word on how much Eververse items cost at this point. We are expecting to hear of that shortly. That said, the Silver bundles are as follows:

  • 500 Destiny Silver ($4.99)
  • 1000 + 100 Destiny Silver ($9.99)
  • 2000 + 300 Destiny Silver ($19.99)

Silver, on PlayStation Store is described as:

"[...] an in-game currency you can use in Destiny to buy goods for your character in the Eververse Store."

There is still no telling of what the future of these microtransactions are. "Goods" could describe anything. So far we know that eighteen emotes, character actions, will be available as soon as the Destiny servers come back online.

First Student-Made PS4 Game Coming on July 15th Thu, 09 Jul 2015 20:13:31 -0400 Bryan C. Tan

After three different development teams, ten months of development time, and various iterations over two years, the first fully published PlayStation 4 student game will be released on the PlayStation Store on Wednesday, July 15th.

From Steel Minions Game Studio, created in 2010 at Sheffield Hallam University to provide students with a merit-based "work simulation" studio environment, Piecefall is a Tetris-inspired 3D puzzle game where abstract floating islands destroyed by a storm have to be rebuilt piece by piece on a horizontal plane.

Four islands, each with twelve puzzles to be solved, allow players to gather points to unlock the ultimate level of the Zen Island by rebuilding the ancient spiritual monuments. The 3D visuals bring a sense of Minecraft, while the soft textures give off a tranquil calmness during gameplay.

As part of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's (SCEE) academic development program, PlayStationFirst, Sheffield Hallam University has the largest PlayStation teaching facilities in the world, with an extensive suite of PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita development kits. With the help of local game developers, mentors, and a dedicated PlayStationFirst producer, the first student game for the PlayStation 4 will finally be published.

Developed by students who have already secured jobs at LittleBigPlanet 3 developer Sumo Digital in Sheffield and Elite3D in Valencia, Piecefall will be available on PlayStation 4 for only £1.00 on Wednesday, July 15th,

Transistor Sales Pass 600K Mark on Steam and PlayStation Store Sun, 11 Jan 2015 19:01:57 -0500 Akeem Favor

Developer Supergiant Games recently announced that its sci-fi RPG Transistor has sold over 600,000 copies on Steam and the PlayStation Store.

Transistor, which was released in May of last year, is set in a futuristic city where players wield a weapon of unknown origin against a series of increasingly difficult robotic enemies.

The game is only the second original game by the small studio; its first game, Bastion, was met with overwhelming success in 2011.

Supergiant Games developer and writer Greg Kasavin noted that Transistor was “selling even faster relative to Bastion during the first couple of months after its launch.”

In less than a year, Transistor has collected nearly a hundred commendations and nominations from throughout the gaming industry.

The success of Bastion and Transistor is hardly surprising, as both feature captivating storylines, beautiful artwork, and stunning musical soundtracks.

While the game is currently available only on the PS4, Mac, Linux, and PC, Supergiant Games has not ruled out bringing Transistor to additional platforms, but noted the challenges involved in doing so.

“Bringing Transistor to new platforms is a significant undertaking for our small team so we don't take on those kinds of opportunities lightly, as the quality of our game is the most important thing to us."

That being said, Supergiant Games is releasing Bastion on PS4 and PS Vita later this year, which is something they "wouldn't have considered" if not for the success of Transistor on PS4, so only time will tell.

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Blasting It's Way Onto PS3, PS4 November 25th Fri, 14 Nov 2014 06:28:28 -0500 Benjamski

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions will be releasing on PS3 and PS4 November 24th, landing the series on PlayStation consoles for the first time.

Adrenaline-pumping, twin-stick arcade shooters have always had a home on Playstation, be it Super Stardust HD on PS3 or Resogun on PS4, but Geometry Wars has always been a staple of the fast paced genre that PlayStation owners have missed out on this popular series with over a decade of success behind it.

The above video shows the frenetic pace and explosive visuals the game is known for and the below description by Craig Howard, Co-founder of Lucid Games, tells you everything you need to know:

"If this is your introduction to the series, then let me sum it up like this – Geometry Wars is electrifying. Screen-melting visuals, fast-paced, bright, and boisterous gameplay, astronomical high scores, bass-thumping, heart-pumping music, and a vibrant energy that can transcend you to pure Zen-like state as you feel totally absorbed into the game. This latest entry in the franchise may look different from its predecessors, but those defining characteristics are still infused into every moment of Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions."

That's a lot of intense adjectives, but I would be hard-pressed to make an argument against any of them. Dimensions will also feature two special stages for it's PlayStation debut, the first of which, is titled "Symbolic" and features enemies that spawn in clusters in the shape of the classic controller button symbols on the PlayStation controller.

The second stage "Secret Eye" will be available as a pre-order bonus and features "a distinctive triangle-shaped grid and an evolving inner core that forces you to make split second decisions."

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions will drop on November 24th for both PS3 and PS4 and is available for pre-order now in the PlayStation Store.

Sony Ending PSP's PlayStation Store Services in Some Regions Wed, 10 Sep 2014 19:32:24 -0400 Brian Crimmins

According to IGN, Sony plans on ending PlayStation Store services on September 15. However, these plans will not affect all gamers worldwide. For now, Sony only plans on ending the service in "Europe, Oceania, Asia, and some parts of Africa."

In addition, these plans will only impair your ability to buy new software through the Store itself. According to Sony (via IGN), you can still buy the software through the Online Store, and you can still download any software you previously purchased through PlayStation Store.

Who can still access the store?

Notably, both Japanese and North American gamers can still access the PlayStation Store. (However, Sony is still considering how to handle the North American market.)

Japan's inclusion is obvious; the PSP has always been strongest in Japan. It was strong enough that only Japanese gamers could use the UMD Passport feature to transfer their PSP games to the Vita. At times, the former outsold the latter.

But North America's exclusion is puzzling. It's a large market that the Vita has floundered in, especially in comparison to its predecessor's moderate success. IGN speculates that the end of the PlayStation Store is Sony's way of shifting focus toward the Vita, but this only makes the North American exclusion that much more confusing. Why overlook a market where the Vita is failing, and action like this would only help?

January's Free Playstation Plus Games Leaked Early Wed, 01 Jan 2014 10:43:14 -0500 Big Chief 1

A promotional video inside of the Playstation Plus tab of the Playstation store has just revealed January's free games for Playstation Plus users in North America. This video was found thanks to NeoGaf user Archie on the forums of the website. Many users are extremely happy with this month's free games, along with myself. Here are this month's free games below.

  • PS4: Don’t Starve
  • PS3: DmC: Devil May Cry, BioShock Infinite, Brothers: a Tale of Two Sons
  • PS Vita: Smart as…, Worms Battle Islands

These games are expected to debut on the store next Tuesday when the Playstation Store updates. You can even watch the video in the Playstation Store yourself by navigating to the Playstation Plus tab. A lot of users are surprised to see BioShock Infinite on the list for PS3 users due to its popularity and high value.

Even if it is for one month, it's worth it to get yourself Playstation Plus if you don't already have it. The instant game collection is great, and you get exclusive items in the store that regular users don't.

What games are you looking forward to download the most? Share your story in the comments!

Carnivores HD Releases Today Tue, 10 Sep 2013 10:59:58 -0400 Synzer

Carnivores HD is a very interesting hunting game that releases on the Playstation Store today. The unique thing about this game, is that you are hunting dinosaurs. You also don't have to actually kill them as you can use tranquilizers. There is also an Observer Mode if you want to just explore the world without fear of being eaten.

Each level is a two square mile island with unique environments ranging from, deserts, jungles, volcanic islands, and deep forests. There are also three different times of day each level can be played on: daytime, evening, and misty.

Carnivores HD is a realistic hunting simulator in that the dinosaurs behave realistically and react to things. Each dinosaur uses sight, smell, and sound in a different way, they react to each other, environment, weather, and injuries. They will wander around the island, get food, water, and take breaks.

Players will also be equipped with something called Gadget. This allows you to find dinosaurs based on their sound or position them on the radar.

This game sounds very interesting and I'll probably be checking it out. I love simulation hunting games and this one allows you to hunt dinosaurs.

Well, that's not something you see everyday.

What do you think about this game? Does it intrigue you? Let me know in the comments.

Play as Ellie and Joel in LittleBigPlanet The Last of Us Minipack Tue, 27 Aug 2013 19:50:01 -0400 MirandaCB

What do you get when you combine beanie babies and scruffy post-apocalypse attire? The Last of Us Minipack for LittleBigPlanet of course! You can now dress your sack boy or girl as the dynamic duo, Ellie and Joel, and explore the levels reminiscent of Naughty Dog's mega hit.

The dichotomy between the adorableness and the serious nature of The Last of Us is interesting. Joel's sack boy is way beyond fitting with his constant glare, mussed hair and beard. Ellie is a pretty sack gal; her characteristic hair and freckles are present. Both are scrappy and cute.

The pop-up book-like settings feature the familiar dilapidated city. Greenery and decay abound. The LittleBigPlanet Minipack is definitely the way to go if you don't have a lot of time to spend with The Last of Us, but still have a hankering to play it.

The only thing missing may be a Clicker costume...

The Last of Us Minipack released today and is available on the Playstation store.
