If you ever wanted to experience a little Mario Kart mayhem in reality, you might want to pay a visit to your local Target store within the next few weeks.

The U.S. chain-store is currently promoting the release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe by kitting out their 650+ stores nationwide in a range of Mario-themed decorations.

You'll find that a number of their shopping carts have been upgraded to "Super Target Karts" -- made to look like the the games' vehicles, which allow you to "play" as Mario, Luigi, or Princess Peach as you shop.

The promotion also decorates the stores' entrances, making them look like the starting line in the racing games. Rigged with a sensor system, the entrances set off flashing lights and play the infamous countdown timer from the Mario Kart games whenever customers walk through the door, followed by the Super Mario theme tune.

Outside the store, you'll be greeted by Mario and Luigi as Target's usual red bollards have been transformed into the likeness of the famous duo.

The promotion only runs for a few short weeks, so head to your local Target as soon as possible if you want to experience the fun for yourself!

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is out on Nintendo Switch on April 28th.

The Best Video Game Deals Going on Now You (May) Not Know About Sun, 11 Dec 2016 10:54:35 -0500 Jonathan Moore

As the holidays draw ever closer, more and more retailers -- and even several gaming companies like Sony and Microsoft -- are getting into the holiday spirit by putting games, peripherals and even console bundles on sale. And since we know that you can’t be everywhere at once, we’ve done the digging for you and uncovered a few gaming deals you might not have been aware of.

From Wal-Mart to Target to the PlayStation Store and beyond, here are some of the best video game deals going on right now.

Target – Skylanders Imaginators Starter Pack for PS4, Xbox One and WiiU

Rating: 4/5

Sale price: $39.99

Buy it on:

Normally priced at $79.99 for all three current-gen systems, this sale is a no-brainer, especially for toy and video game lovers. Melding some of the very best mechanics from RPGs and action-adventure games, Skylanders Imaginators is rated E for Everyone, is hyper kid-friendly and is a game that everyone in the family can enjoy.

Essential reading: Skylanders Imaginators Brings Imagination to Life

But keep in mind: Skylanders Imaginators is a game that requires real-life toys to play. As this is the game’s starter pack, some areas and features of the game will be locked until you purchase and use other Skylanders figures.

These additional figures cost between $12.99 and $19.99, with many on sale via Target right now for $14.99.

Wal-Mart – Preowned Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Games

Back in 2014, Wal-Mart began accepting video game trade-ins, becoming a direct competitor with industry giant Gamestop in the process. Today, the big box-store has one of the largest collections of used video games among the companies that engage in the enterprise.

This holiday, Wal-Mart is rolling back prices on many of those games for the Xbox One and PS4, including:

  • Alien Isolation ($11.99)
  • Assassin’s Creed Unity ($11.88)
  • Batman: Arkham Knight ($16.88)
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare ($11.88)
  • Sniper Elite III ($11.88)
  • And many more

So, whether you’re an FPS fan, an RPG nerd or a daredevil ridge-racer, there’s most likely a game for you (or your special someone) on the list. What’s more, Wal-Mart is pretty solid about providing used games in excellent condition while also giving you a pretty good monetary deal in return. The Microsoft Xbox Store – Games, Consoles, Peripherals and Accessories

Looking to grab that special someone one of the best gaming machines on the planet this holiday season? If so, the Microsoft  Xbox store is one the first places you should look.

With deals on everything from some of this year’s hottest Xbox-exclusive games to can’t-beat Xbox One console bundles and limited-time offers on peripherals, this is going to be one sales event you’re not going to want to miss.

Some of the sale’s highlights are:

  • Save up to 50% on Xbox One games
  • Save 33% on Gears of War 4
  • $30 off Turtle Beach 420x Headset
  • $249 Xbox One console
  • And more

Head over to the Microsoft Store now to take advantage of these deals, which end Dec. 31.

The PlayStation Store – Digital Game Downloads

In recent months, Sony’s PlayStation Store has been having some truly insane sales -- many of which have even rivaled (and still rival) Steam deals, and we all know how awesomely ludicrous those can be.

Beginning last week and running through the month of December, the PlayStation Store is currently hosting its yearly Holiday Sale, which means prices are getting slashed on some of the year’s best games -- many of which are Sony exclusives.

Each week brings a brand new set of games and DLC to the price-chopping table. Right now (if you act fast) you’ll have access to deep discounts on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PS Vita games like:

  • Borderlands: The Handsome Collection
  • Dishonored: Definitive Edition
  • Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance
  • Batman: The TellTale Series Season Pass
  • OceanHorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
  • Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Trilogy
  • God of War: Chains of Olympus
  • And many more

Each week of deals expires after the end of the week, starting on Tuesdays. So, for example, this week’s deals will expire on Tuesday, Dec. 13. On that day, a new set of deals will hit the store.

What’s more, the PS Store holiday sale also has some truly great deals on digital movie downloads -- with some of the year’s best and most recent films getting the discount treatment.

Head over to the official PlayStation Store to take advantage of these quickly disappearing deals.

Best Buy – WiiU and Nintendo 3DS Game Deals

For a long time now, Best Buy has consistently had some of the best video game deals and offers when it comes to holiday shopping. Each year, the electronics super giant has some type of can’t-beat BOGO (Buy One Get One) offer, and this year’s now different.

Enter Best Buy’s Buy One, Get One 40% off deal for WiiU and Nintendo 3DS games. That’s right, this deal is valid for two systems. What’s even better? You can mix and match games and still get the deal (we personally tested it out by adding both a WiiU and Nintendo 3DS game to our cart. At checkout, the WiiU game received the 40% discount).

Here’s a list of some of the games currently eligible for the sale:

  • Bayonetta 2
  • Super Mario 3D World
  • Minecraft: WiiU Edition
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker HD
  • Super Mario Maker
  • The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heros
  • Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon
  • And many more

Unfortunately, it appears that Pokemon Sun and Moon are not eligible for this promotion, which, of course, does make business-sense since each launched only a few weeks ago.

However, head over to Best Buy right now and take advantage of these still-awesome deals while you can.

And that’s it. for now. Stay tuned to GameSkinny throughout the holidays as we’ll be updating this list as more deals become available!

Are there other games deals you’ve seen that should be on this list? Which of these will you be taking advantage of? Let us know in the comments below.

Pennsylvania man walks into Target, steals handicap cart, pees on video games, flees Mon, 11 Jan 2016 07:34:24 -0500 David Fisher

Yes, that double take you just made was not in vain: a man walked into a Target store in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and proceeded to urinate on video games in their electronics department.

He literally went to Target to target some video games with his piss...

According to the Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department's Facebook page, the male suspect (right) entered the Target around 8:50 p.m. on January 5th, 2016. He proceeded to take a handicap electric cart, drive it around the store, and then stopped at the electronics aisle where he promptly removed a set of urine soaked pants before urinating on video games and video game accessories. After successfully pouring out the entirety of his bladder's contents, he proceeded to flee the scene - leaving behind a nasty mess for employees.

According to Gamespot, as of January 7th, 2016, the man has been arrested and charged for indecent exposure and public urination. Meanwhile, Kotaku has confirmed that the man's name has been released as one "Anel Mujkanovic."

Surprisingly, the man was not charged with destruction of property. Perhaps the plastic coating of shrinkwrap spared the video games from the yellow flood? Who knows. However, I would certainly not want to be one of the employees responsible for cleaning up the mess...

Maybe Anel will escape the charges if he told the jury he only peed on PC copies of Arkham Knight?

Wii U marked as top selling item for Black Friday according to Target Tue, 01 Dec 2015 08:40:03 -0500 David Fisher

Today's the first day of December, and that means Black Friday Weekend sales are officially over. Consoles sell really well during this period since lowered prices on bundles tends to send devices flying off store shelves during the Black Friday sales. However, if you're a Nintendo of America employee you might be celebrating a little more than Microsoft or Sony.

In a press update issued during the weekend, Target told the press that the Nintendo Wii U did exceptionally well for this period.

"Gaming consoles were popular in stores and online, including Nintendo Wii U, which was the top selling item on" Press Release

While the exact numbers weren't released in the press release, Target did mention that they saw a 35% increase for in-store pickup orders this year compared to 2014. If that's anything to go by, then that means that Nintendo might see the Wii U finally taking off.

I have come to believe that the Smash Splat Deluxe Set Wii U bundle is the culprit for the Wii U's success this year during Black Friday. The evidence can be found across various online stores where the bundle is constantly listed as a "Best Seller," such as Walmart's online page.

The bundle - having sold at only $249.99 during Black Friday ($279.99 in Canada) - is a complete steal compared to any previous Wii U bundle in existence. The Smash Splat Deluxe Set, which included two infinitely replayable popular games leaves no contest for other bundles that usually include one game for $299.00. Hopefully, when we get the solid numbers we'll be able to find out just how well Nintendo's Wii U actually sold.

What do you guys think? Did you pick up a Smash Splat bundle? Were they sold out before you showed up? Do you think Nintendo should keep pushing out this bundle a while longer? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below!

If you haven't already heard, Microsoft is offering an Xbox One Bundle for Fallout 4 that gives you Fallout 3 and all the Fallout 4 PC mods for free. At Best Buy, the 500 GB Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection Bundle for $349.99 currently comes with the free copy of Fallout 4 along with a free charging station. If Uncharted isn't really your game, the 500 GB Destiny: The Taken King Limited Edition Bundle for $399.99 offers the same bargain.

Nuka-Cola Quantum coming to Target November 10th Sat, 31 Oct 2015 04:59:24 -0400 Dennis Adame

Fans of Fallout rejoice! You will soon be able to get your hands not only on Fallout 4, but also Nuka-Cola Quantum. The iconic drink, first seen in Fallout 3, will be sold exclusively at Target stores in the U.S beginning November 10th -- the same day the game comes out. The official Fallout Twitter page let fans know about this exciting news via this tweet.

Bethesda Softworks teamed up with soda manufacturer Jones Soda to make this dream a reality. The drink is the same blue color seen in the games, and is Jones Soda's berry lemonade flavor. Unfortunately the packaging doesn’t really look anything like the in-game model; but it is still very exciting for fans of Fallout to be able to own such a cool piece of gaming merchandise.

With all the hype of Fallout 4 so much merchandise is being made. Bethesda’s web store has tons of Fallout gear that fans can buy, a U.K-based company will be making Fallout beer that will be available (only in the U.K) on November 5th, and even LootCrate made a special crate just for the game.

Fallout 4 will be released on November 10th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Exclusive Toys R Us Bowser Jr. amiibo and 5 other amiibos release on Sept. 11th Thu, 03 Sep 2015 10:26:04 -0400 Courtney Gamache

On September 11th 2015, Toys R Us will be debuting their exclusive Bowser Jr. amiibo for purchase. For this specific amiibo trekking it over to the local Toys R Us will be required because it won't be available online, only in store and while supplies lasts.

You're not alone, Bowser Jr.

While the Tweet went out yesterday for the debut of Bowser Jr., there are several other amiibos that will be unveiled for sale on September 11th as well from their other retailer, Target. Included in the list of new amiibos are:

  • Dr. Mario
  • Ganondorf
  • Olimar
  • Zero Suit Samus
  • 30th Anniversary Mario amiibo

Already for Pre-Order at Target

Unlike their friend Bowser Jr., all the amiibos listed have already been available for pre-order at Target for the cost of $12.99 each. While they won't be compatible in every game, the possible compatibility games are listed below:

  • Super Mario Maker
  • Mario Party 10
  • Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS
  • Hyrule Warriors
  • Captain Toad Treasure Tracker

Any plans to purchase the new amiibos? Which ones are you looking forward to most? Share your thoughts below on the amiibo market and what ones you expect next!

Ganondorf amiibo hits Target for pre-order Fri, 28 Aug 2015 21:02:29 -0400 Courtney Gamache

Target just added a new amiibo to their online shop for pre-order, and its none other than evil bad guy from The Legend of Zelda, Ganondorf. This is only the pre-order stage, the amiibo will become officially available on September 11th, 2015. For a small price of $12.99, you can get the Ganondorf amiibo, and Target will match the price if it lowers before the release date

When that exciting day comes, collectors and Zelda fans alike can have Ganondorf on their shelf, and as a trainable character.

Compatible games with the Ganondorf amiibo

The Ganondorf amiibo is known to be compatible in the following games:

  • Hyrule Warriors
  • Mario Party 10
  • Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
  • Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS

At the current time it's unknown if Ganondorf will be a costume available in Super Mario Maker, but we can always hope; especially since Link is an optional costume.

Using Ganondorf in Super Smash Bros.

Ganondorf is a well-known contender in Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U and 3DS, that is frankly a bad-ass. From his amount of weight to the punches he gives, he's a hard guy to beat. When knowing how to use his character, Ganondorf is a great asset. Now that Nintendo has released a Ganondorf amiibo, he'll become one of the "figure players" that the gamer can train and raise with specific abilities. Raise Ganondorf right and you'll have a great figure player on your side to battle with your friends and other figure players.

Do you think the Ganondorf amiibo will join Super Mario Maker? How awesome will his "figure player" become in Super Smash Bros.? Share your opinions on this new amiibo figure below!

Target launches pre-orders for 3DS NFC readers Sun, 12 Jul 2015 03:35:42 -0400 Courtney Gamache

Target has a listing in their online store for pre-ordering the new Nintendo 3DS NFC reader at the small price of $20. This reader will give the earlier 3DS models the ability to use amiibos.

Nintendo 3DS models that aren't the Nintendo "New" 3DS XL don't have the ability to read the NFC devices, like amiibos when they're nearby. This new accessory will allow the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL to read these devices. The adapter is a much more wallet-friendly option than replacing your old 3DS with a new model that can detect amiibo.

When would we use Amiibos on the 3DS?

A few games announced during E3 2015 such as Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer will apply the added amiibo cards for in-game content that will be locked otherwise. Since the older models of the 3DS lack the ability on their lower screen to use these amiibos, but are still able to play the 3DS game, something had to change.

If you believe you'll need this new adapter for your Nintendo 3DS/XL, you can pre-purchase it on Target's website for $20, and it will be released September 25th. I'll personally be looking into this adapter since I have the Link Between Worlds 3DS XL edition and am a huge fan of Animal Crossing.

For more information on the new Animal Crossing spin-offs and their decision to incorporate amiibos in their new games, check out this article.

The Amiibo Sensation: Tips on Collecting Fri, 29 May 2015 21:26:31 -0400 Fireboltz_7795

I visited the Target store tonight to pick up my copy of Splatoon, which was released today. It wasn’t the only item that Nintendo released, however. Wave 4 of the ever-popular Amiibo craze also launched this morning. While many were available online, the Jigglypuff Amiibo is a Target exclusive, so just for kicks I asked the sales clerk if there were any Jigglypuff Amiibos left. He laughed and said, “Those were hot off the shelf the first thirty minutes of the store opening!”

To put it in perspective, the Amiibo craze is real, so real in fact that Amazon limited the sales today to only one per customer online in order to give more people the opportunity to purchase. This is great as it helps keep the scalpers under control, but it makes me wonder just how important is it really to acquire these little figurines?

The answer is very important. Amiibos have now shipped over ten million units worldwide and continue to grow in popularity. The shortage of certain figures like Villager and Little Mac, have caused great commotion as many are trying to get their hands on them. The scalpers that buy them by the bundle sell them for way more than the suggested retail price. I even saw the Villager Amiibo listed at over $100.00 on Amazon for a moment.

The good news is that I’ve learned that being patient can have its benefits. By waiting around for prices to go down, I was able to purchase the Villager Amiibo for under $30.00 this last week, and many other Amiibos are listed around that price. So if you’re interested in collecting the Amiibos, here are some tips that I’ve composed for you:

Collect the common ones.

Amiibos like Link, Mario, and Luigi can be found almost anywhere, and it’s never a bad time to scoop these up first. That way you can try out the Amiibos on your video games and decide for yourself whether or not you want to collect more.

Collect your favorites first.

Aim for the ones you care the most for. That way in case you don’t acquire all of them, you’ll at least have your favorites to play with.

Do not, and I mean do not buy any Amiibo priced over $40.00.

If you buy Amiibos over that amount, the scalpers win. The only Amiibo I would consider paying that much for is Gold Mario, and even then I wouldn’t. If the scalpers can’t sell their product for a ridiculously high price, they’ll have no choice but lower the price, and that’s when you can make your move. I haven’t bought one for over $30.00 yet; after all, they’re just toys in the end.

Be patient.

By being patient I’ve seen Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mac, Captain Falcon, and several others listed under $30.00. It’s not the worst price in the world; $25.00 is the equivalent of two Amiibos so if you can buy a rarer one like the aforementioned, it might be worth it. But if the price seems really high, wait. The prices on Ebay and Amazon fluctuate every week, so just have some patience and see what comes up.

The Amiibo craze is real, but it’s a lot of fun. I’ve personally enjoyed trying to collect them all, and they’re a lot of fun to use on video games like Super Smash Bros. For more on Amiibos, visit

Rosalina Amiibo Is Target Exclusive Sun, 14 Dec 2014 09:12:48 -0500 TumsST

It appears that another Amiibo figure will be joining the likes of Meta Knight, Lucario, and Shulk in terms of store exclusive figures. The Rosalina and Luma Amiibo figure will be making their new home address at Target stores. The figure doesn't hit store shelves until next year (Feb) but like the Amiibo that came before her, pre-ordering early, might be the only way you get your hands on the Rosalina and Luma Amiibo figure. It looks like Nintendo didn't anticipate how many people would try to collect the Amiibo because it looks like there are certain figures that are becoming very hard to come by in stores.

It has been announced recently that "discontinued" Amiibo figures that sell out of their first run in stores may get a second shipment/store run after all. Out of the first wave/batch of Amiibo, it looks like the Wii Fit Trainer, Marth, and the Animal Crossing Villager have become the first "where can I find" Amiibo. Could Rosalina and Luma join this list of can't find Amiibo or will Nintendo learn by next year that collector or player, people are going to want these figures.

Nintendo has stated that "not as popular" Amiibo will be "discontinued" but might get a second chance in stores eventually. That's good news for all the people who couldn't get their hands on the Villager, Marth, and Wii Fit Trainer. Also, Super Smash Brothers for Wii U and the Amiibo figures has done so well, saleswise, that it's a no brainer for Nintendo to keep them on the shelves.

Target's Black Friday Sales Include An Assassin's Creed Bundle Deal Mon, 10 Nov 2014 16:47:05 -0500 KieraB

Mark your calendars for November 28, because Target's got a number of deals and bundles ready for Black Friday.

The store's main website posted a small preview of the deals to become available for sale - including one that might be of particular interest to Assassin's Creed fans.

Starting on the last Friday of this month, Target will be offering their Assassin's Creed Unity bundle for $329.99. This includes a 500GB Xbox One system at their "lowest price ever": $329.99, including a free $50 gift card, when players purchase Assassin's Creed Unity and the fourth installment, Black Flag, as digital downloads.

Normally, the two games separately purchased would amount to $119.98 value in Target; the Xbox One itself would normally cost $399.99. At the end of the day, people who take advantage of the deal would save $70.

Other deals and bundles up for grabs will include Yoshi's New Island Nintendo 2DS bundles for $99.99 each, Disney Infinity 2.0 and Skylanders: Trap Team starter packs for $39.99 each, as well as The Evil Within and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor for $25 each.

In addition to these particular sales, Target will feature a multitude of buy 2, get 1 free deals for over 100 featured games prior to the frenzy that Black Friday brings.

For the highly-anticipated Unity bundle, the codes needed to download the two games will be included in the box packaging, and the extra $50 sounds none too shabby of a deal, either.

Godspeed, to those of you looking to make the journey to your local Targets for the deals!

Target Offering Buy 2 Get 1 Game Free Now Through Saturday Fri, 15 Nov 2013 02:03:43 -0500 Stephanie Tang

Between hovering over leaked Black Friday deals at and watching the clock tick down until the official PlayStation 4 launch, gamers have a lot to be excited about right now. Luckier industry folks than I have already had their turn playing around with the newest gaming shiny to hit the consumer market, now it's our turn!

(This is, of course, running under the assumption that it will work. It may not.)

But what comes next?

The obvious answer: games! And after shelling out the big bucks for the PS4, what better way to celebrate than with the best selection of games that launch day can throw at us - at a discount?

A couple weeks ago, we at GameSkinny reported a leaked Target flyer that offered a pretty great deal - buy two PS4 games and you'll get a third free.

Pretty sweet deal, right?

The Target deal has since been confirmed and the sale is going full steam ahead - right now, in fact. Not for the PS4 titles, they start selling immediately after the launch of the console, but twelve titles are confirmed as being part of the deal including:

  •  Killzone: Shadow Fall
  • Knack
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts

And for those of you who aren't really keen on shelling out for a new console and, let's face it, some rather dubiously rated launch titles, there's probably something in there for you too.

Through this Saturday, Target's "buy two, get one free deal" is valid on over 500 games, and while that number doesn't encompass every single game on the market right now, it certainly applies to some of this year's biggest titles such as:

  • Pokemon X & Y
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Battlefield 4
  • Skylanders Swap Force

Plus, if you're not interested in shelling out for more than one title this Black Friday, there are some additional offers on some of these. Target is offering a $20 Gift Card with the purchase of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, while Battlefield 4, Batman: Arkham Origins, possibly Call of Duty: Ghosts (the flyer image is cut off), and more, are on Black Friday sale for $35 each or less.

Older games are being sold at $15 and $25 levels as seen above, including those not shown in the flyer. You can view these and additional game price drops on IGN, or check out the games themselves on the Target website.

Additionally, if you're anything like me and have let the current generation of console gaming pass you by with wistful silence (especially in the wake of quality exclusive releases like The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls), Target is breaking out some of the lowest prices ever on current generation bundles - $189.99 for the 4 GB Xbox 360 Kinect Bundle and doorbuster deal $199 250GB PlayStation 3 bundle that comes with Batman: Arkham Origins and The Last of Us.

Here's the best part!

While getting your hands on a deal is great, and one of the best feelings in the world, what you get is not necessarily worth the experience of the crushing, rushing, claustrophobic mass of humanity shoving into, past, and through you in order to get their hands on their own treasure trove of cheap goodies when you brave the Black Friday sales in store.

Well at least this year, it looks like you might not even have to. According to Target's promotions page, it appears that the red-and-white giant is offering free shipping for these titles as well. You might not be able to nab some of the doorcrasher prizes, but it's a hell of an easier way to get your hands on some cheap games.

Remember, this deal ends Saturday night, so get shopping you lucky American customers, you! Some of us a little north of the border aren't quite so lucky.

Target's Huge Mistake: Shipping Out Xbox One Orders Early Sat, 09 Nov 2013 14:39:06 -0500 JohnHeatz

If you've been around for the past couple of days, you might have seen that there are some people auctioning off their "early shipped Xbox One." One of those auctions was asking for thousands of dollars in order to be one of the very first gamers to experience the next-gen technology Microsoft worked on for so long.

Well, it has been admitted by Target that they mistakenly shipped an undisclosed number of Xbox One consoles due to a "system error", they told Kotaku.

Target was contacted after one gamer tried to sell his early acquired next-gen console on eBay (the listing has been removed already), while another user posted a video on YouTube... which has also been taken down due to "copyright claim" by Microsoft.

Xbox One on Ebay

A Target representative had this to say to Kotaku about the matter:

"Due to a systems error, Target shipped a small number of video game consoles prior to the street date, the vast majority of video game preorders are slated to arrive on the street date."

With this issue in mind, Microsoft has taken action and temporarily banned the shipped machines in order to avoid more sharing about the product by these "lucky" gamers. Obviously, Major Nelson has been the one to talk about this matter:

How could this error influence the launch reaction of this console? Could this issue harm the relationship between Microsoft and Target?

Target Admits to Shipping "a Small Amount" of Xbox Ones Early Sat, 09 Nov 2013 14:23:23 -0500 Max Jay

According to Kotaku, retail giant Target has confirmed sending a "small amount" of Xbox Ones early.

This comes on the heels of someone trying to sell one on eBay for nearly $10,000, and MoonlightSwami flooding Twitter with previously undisclosed information regarding the new system.

A Target spokesperson told Kotaku that a slight system error resulted in some Xbox Ones being sent out early - though the vast majority will remain safe until November 22.

Another source told Kotaku that the snafu took place because some foolish clerk neglected to ascribe a release date for the non-Day One editions of the console. So the automated shipping systems sent them out as soon as they were delivered to the warehouses. Kotaku says a Target rep has yet to confirm that claim - though it would make perfect sense if that is how it all went down.

You can check out some of MoonlightSwami's information right here.

Do you think the recent flood of information will end up helping Microsoft come Xbox One launch day? Sound off in the comments down below and maybe I'll give you a professional recommendation to work at target and fix that place up!

Dude Gets Xbox One Two Weeks Early, Proceeds to Spill All the Beans [UPDATE] Sat, 09 Nov 2013 12:48:19 -0500 Max Jay

Gamers of every age DREAM of being the first to get their hands on next-gen hardware. It would be like having someone accidentally mail you a cheat code for happiness. Well, one lucky gentleman got their dream - that lucky bastard.

Similar to the eBay user priceless228 (who ended up putting the console on eBay for way more money than anyone should pay for anything other than a house or a car), Moonlight Swami got his Target pre-order of the Xbox One three weeks early. Unlike priceless228 though, Swami has decided to share the wealth; he's tweeting out images and popping some YouTube videos up to show the public what the Xbox One can really do (Microsoft has since taken down his unboxing video though).

— #1 Source 4 XBOX ONE (@Moonlightswami) November 9, 2013

Swami has unboxed, explored and unleashed more information in the past evening than the entirety of the journalism universe has had since the announcement of the Xbox One. He was able to prematurely download the day one patch of the system and begin looking at several games' installation sizes, and even clock the time from turning the system on to getting to the home menu.

CORRECTION XBOX ONE takes 17 seconds to get to the dashboard. I used a stop watch lol

— #1 Source 4 XBOX ONE (@Moonlightswami) November 9, 2013

Also some more specific port type deals:

Were you wondering what the Achievements page looked like?

And some challenge type deals:

Unfortunately after the cascade of information that Swami has released Microsoft has banned his Xbox (but not his gamertag). I'd imagine Microsoft getting a pile of shit thrown at their face for the "transgression," but I'm sure Swami's system will work again come launch day.

For more on Swami's adventures with the Xbox One pre-launch you can check out his Twitter right here.

The Xbox One will launch on November 22nd unless Target decides to throw caution to the wind and just send it to everyone. I'll be following the story and updating as new information unfolds.

What would you do if you got your next-gen preorder early? Would you tell the world or try to avoid bans and keep it to yourself? Sound off in the comments down below and maybe we can get Microsoft to stop banning peo--

UPDATE: Microsoft's Larry Hryb has ensured the world that Midnight Swami's Xbox One will not remain banned forever.

@LookItsLewis @DimorphicAU @Moonlightswami Whatever happened it will not be permanent. I can say that with 100% certainty.

— Larry Hryb (@majornelson) November 9, 2013

UPDATE #2: Target has admitted to Kotaku that they accidentally shipped a few Xbox One consoles prior to launch. Click here for the full rub.

UPDATE #3: According to another story on Kotaku (an interview with André Weingarten a.k.a. Moonlight Swami) Microsoft has invited him to the Xbox One launch event as a guest of the company. In the interview Weingarten said that Microsoft knows that it was Target's error, and he had nothing to do with it. Weingarten says that his Xbox One is going to be put back into working order closer to launch and there will be no penalties. His Xbox One is still playable, just not online.

Weingarten told Kotaku that he had a conversation with Larry Hryb (Major Nelson) and while he was unable to divulge detils of the entire conversation, he was able to say that his videos and tweets would be put back into the public.

It's really nice to see a company like Microsoft - which many say has lost touch with the public - literally getting in touch with the public to discuss a leak and figure out how to make everyone happy.
