CoD MW3 Preseason Patch Notes Detailed: Slide Cancel Buffs, Armory Fixes, and More

The new patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 brings some incredibly welcome updates to the game's systems.

New game releases mean tons of patching to deal with pressing issues. Modern Warfare 3 is no exception, and the preseason MW3 update patch notes from November 17 show what we can expect from Season 1. There are buffs to slide canceling, adjustments to Armory unlocks, and much more.

Slide Canceling and Tac Sprint

One of the community’s biggest complaints regards how slide canceling cuts into Tac Sprint time, as the main reason to slide cancel is to keep your momentum. Before the November 17 patch, sliding did almost nothing to refresh Tac Sprint.

With the buff in the update, the delay for Tac Sprint to refresh after sliding is 75% shorter. The sprint delay after sliding is also 53% shorter, meaning sliding is now much more worth your time and better meets the expectations players had at launch.

Improvements to Armory Unlocks

The other major update concerns Armory unlocks. Previously, you needed to complete three arbitrary and sometimes annoying Daily Challenges to progress weapons locked behind the Armory system. Only after completing these dailies (which didn’t always work) could you continue progressing Armory unlocks via match wins in Multiplayer.

As of the November 17 patch update, that’s all changed. While Daily Challenges still award Armory progression, now every win also does, regardless of how many or how few dailies you’ve completed.

I still think the Armory system is a terrible way to gate progression. Unlocking attachments, killstreaks, gear, and everything else mostly made sense before, and like so much in MW3, the Armory seems to exist for the sake of existing. To me, it serves no other purpose than to add complexity to progression paths that already worked.

This patch also addresses a number of bugs. These include a player invisibility issue and map-specific problems in Multiplayer, as well as weapon and scorestreak duplication, camo challenge progression, and other stability fixes in Zombies. Find the full list of patch notes below.

Developer Note: Our teams continue investigating this Completionist Camo issue and are committed to releasing a fix that allows blueprint weapons to be completed. We thank everyone for your patience and the messages we received regarding weapon configurations while we continue investigating.
