CoD MW3: How to Fix Bugged Daily Challenges Not Unlocking

If the Daily Challenges in Modern Warfare 3 are bugged for you, we have some fixes you can try in this guide.

No game has ever launched without at least a few bugs, but those that affect progression are the worst. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 currently has a horrid bug where Daily Challenges aren’t completing, robbing players of XP and access to unlocks. Here’s how to fix it.

How to Fix Daily Challenges Not Working in MW3

Daily challenges being bugged is a huge problem because you need to complete Dailies to progress your Armory unlocks. And unfortunately, there’s no active fix to the issue. In my experience, and those of other gamers, Daily Challenges simply will choose not to work for a time. Then you can try them later, and they’ll work fine. That in mind, here are some steps you can take to possibly solve the daily challenges bug in MW3.

  • Restart your game. Turning it off and on again is a tech panacea for a lot of reasons, and it might give you some relief from the bugged daily challenges. It’s not foolproof, but it’s an easy step you can try.
  • Restart your computer or console. Restarting your whole system is a more drastic step you can take, but like restarting your game, it might shake some of the MW3 cobwebs loose.
  • Wait. As frustrating as it is, sometimes patience is the only answer. If your daily challenges aren’t unlocking, don’t worry about them. Focus on leveling up the weapons you have and increasing your rank. Then, after about an hour, try to complete them again. Believe it or not, this might be the most consistent strategy we have right now.

What Causes the Daily Challenges Bug in MW3?

Daily challenges not working is a problem on the game’s side, which means the only people who can actually solve it are Sledgehammer Games and their partners working on Modern Warfare 3. Sledgehammer has an ongoing known issues public Trello page, and you can follow the Call of Duty Updates account on X (formerly Twitter) for updates on issues with the game. I couldn’t find mention of the daily challenge problem as of writing, but I suspect the right teams are at least aware of it.

That covers possible fixes to daily challenges not unlocking in MW3. I’m sorry I couldn’t provide a surefire fix, but I would expect at least an announcement of a fix-in-progress soon. Whether the patch itself will be soon is another matter.
