How to Complete Wishing All the Best in Destiny 2 Season of the Wish: All Steps Detailed

Wishing All the Best takes place over seven weeks, with each week having between seven and nine steps. The Season of the Wish story quest has 55 steps total, some of which are the game simply telling you to wait until the next week to continue the story.

Like every seasonal story in Destiny 2‘s history, completing Wishing All the Best is a mix of listening to your NPC allies talk and actually playing the game. There’s some reused content this time around, too. Though, if you’re a newer player, some of it might be novel enough. Click the links below to jump to a specific week:

Wishing All the Best Week 1 Steps

How to Complete Wishing All the Best Step 1

Speak to Riven. For this first step, you’ll be speaking to the Season of the Wish Vendor, the paracausal dragon Riven of a Thousand Voices. You’ll find her beyond a portal in the right-hand section of the H.E.L.M.

Step 2: Search for Eggs

Play a Riven’s Lair activity to search for her eggs. You can launch Riven’s Lair from the node on the right side of the H.E.L.M Director screen. The activity is a three-man, matchmade mode where you and your teammates fight various enemy factions, solve some small puzzles, dodge deathtraps, and defeat a boss at the end.

Riven’s Lair is at the core of the seasonal story, and as such it’s not too difficult. However, if you’re at all like me, you may find yourself dying to traps way more than you’d like. While I know you can easily get around them, if future arenas have any more of them, this season will get old — real fast.

Step 3: Go to the Holoprojector

Speak to Petra Venj at the holoprojector. You’ll find the holoprojector across the room from Mara Sov’s throne in the Wing of the Wish, and it will become a familiar destination. Petra, one of the Awoken nobles from the Reef, has some exposition to provide.

Step 4: The Blind Well

Complete Blind Well runs in the Dreaming City. The Blind Well is a horde-mode arena-style activity you can launch from a node on the right side of the Dreaming City map screen. Inside, you need to fend off enemies, do some light mechanics to progress, and defeat bosses at the end of the run.

While it’s archaic by today’s standards, given its origins five years ago in the Forsaken expansion, the Blind Well is also thematic to Season of the Wish. You must complete enough runs of the activity to fill a progress bar. I can confirm that you’ll need more than one run to do so.

The best way to fill the bar quickly is to do Tier 3 difficulty runs. Then, you’ll want to use an Unstable Charge of Light to launch the heroic difficulty. Tier 3 Charges of Light and Unstable Charges come from Dreaming City activities and more Blind Well completions. You can also buy them from Petra directly for a few thousand Glimmer.

Wishing All the Best Step 5: Polysemy

Complete the Polysemy mission. Polysemy is much like the Riven’s Lair activity, but it also serves as your introduction to The Coil, which you’ll need to complete later on. Like Riven’s Lair, there are three sections to the mission with a final boss. It’s not as difficult as Riven’s Lair or The Coil, so completing it to get one of Riven’s uncorrupted eggs shouldn’t be too hard. No, it’s not quite as gross as it sounds.

Step 6: Go to the H.E.L.M.

Listen to Osiris and Mara Sov speak at the H.E.L.M. At the right of the entrance to the Wing of the Wish is a set of stairs going down. You’ll be listening to NPC speak to one another there multiple times over the course the season.

Step 7: Return to Riven

Speak to Riven. Back to the tentacular wish dragon. She has more to say. After this step, you’ll also need to until the next weekly reset for the next set of quest steps.

Wishing All the Best: All Week 2 Quest Steps

Wishing All the Best Step 8: Talk with the Dragon

Speak to Riven: Another of Riven’s eggs has made its way to our reality, and she has more to say on that and other topics.

Step 9: Tautology

Complete the Tautlogy mission. Like the Polysemy mission from Week 1 of Wishing All the Best, Tautology plays like Riven’s Lair and The Coil. Specifically, it introduces you to the new set of pathways in both activities. Things were pretty standard on my runs, with a repeated boss and some of the same room challenges as well. There was some new dialog, which was nice.

Step 10: Go to the Holoprojector

Speak to Petra at the Holoprojector, she has news! You should listen.

Wishing All the Best Step 11: Chamber of Starlight

Complete the Chamber of Starlight Lost Sector. You’ll find the Chamber of Starlight in Rheasilvea in the Dreaming City, the northernmost section of the destination. There’s an objective marker on the map you can use, leading you through the caves in the north of the Divalian Mist.

Keep right along the cliffs until you reach a chasm. The Lost Sector is more to your right across within the chasm itself. Jump down, and you should see the Lost Sector marker on the rock face, again on your right.

Step 12: Go See Crow and Petra

Watch the conversation between Crow and Petra at the H.E.L.M. For this step of Wishing All the Best, head back to the H.E.L.M. and go into the room underneath the portal to Riven’s house. Petra and Crow continue attempting to bury the hatchet, with mixed success.

Step 13: Talk to Osiris

Speak with Osiris at the holoprojector, where he explains that no plan is safe without a backup, and what he’s been working on while you placate an alien dragon.

Step 14: Return to the Dragon Again

Speak to Riven for some more talk with the tentacular dragon.

Wishing All the Best Step 15: It’s Riven Time

Speak to Riven in her house. The ephemeral dragon has more shade to throw.

Step 16: Wishing Glass Shards

Collect Wishing Glass Shards in The Coil Activity. This part of Wishing All the Best is a bit of a head-scratcher. You need to collect Wishing Glass Shards in The Coil, an activity that’s 1810 Power activity and gets harder the farther you progress. The Shards can be found by defeating enemies or by destroying the glowing pots scattered in each traversal room. The Coil’s secret rooms also reward lots of Shards.

In my testing, the only Shards that count for the quest are those you pick up yourself. They’re not shared across the fireteam. Second, getting to and defeating a single boss only awards about 15-20% progress. That means, unless you’re at the right Power and have somewhat competent teammates, you might have to run The Coil multiple times.

A single, full run was enough for me to complete the quest step, but I got lucky with my randoms, and I’m at the Power requirement. You may need to do some grinding before you can complete this step.

Step 17: Petra and the Holoprojector

Speak to Petra at the holoprojector, where she has some mild words of praise to offer you. Not much solace if The Coil gives you conniptions.

Step 18: The Oracle Engine

Complete The Oracle Engine mission. Grizzled Destiny 2 veterans will remember this mission from the Forsaken expansion. If you were around for it, I’m sad to say it’s exactly as you remember it, only easier. And while I understand why it exists in this form, it’s still annoying. Unlike the Coil, the activity has no Power requirement, and we’re so much stronger than we were way back when. Complete the mission to progress the step.

Step 19: Enthymeme

Complete the Enthymeme mission, which is really just another round in Riven’s Lair. It’s no different from the first week’s Riven’s Lair or Coil runs, except it’s much easier in Week 3.

Step 20: Listen to Crow and Mara

Watch the conversation between Mara Sov and the Crow at the H.E.L.M. Mara and Crow (now fully in command of Uldren Sov’s memories and something of a merging of two people) have a heart-to-heart.

Step 21: Talk to Osiris Again

Speak to Osiris at the holoprojector. As Mr. Exposition this season, boy, does Osiris have a lot of info dumping to do.

Step 22: Dragon Time

Speak to Riven. The ghostly dragon has more uncertainty to sow.

Speak to Riven. She has some words about the next egg.

Step 24: A New Mission

Complete the mission “Apophasis.” Like all the other named missions in Wishing All the Best, this one is a simple run through a new path in Riven’s Lair, adding it to your possible paths during seasonal activities.

Step 25: Crow Has More to Say

Speak with The Crow at the H.E.L.M. He has some thoughts about what you need to do to continue your mission.

Step 26: Cross the Stars

Complete the Starcrossed Exotic mission. Don’t ask me why they put a higher-difficulty mission smack in the middle of a seasonal story, but here we are. Thankfully, we’ve covered how to complete Starcrossed right here.

Step 27: Riven has More to Say

Speak to Riven. For the first time, Riven is truly hurt. And if you listened to the lore at the end of Starcrossed, it’s not hard to understand why.

Wishing All the Best: All Week 5 Quest Steps

Step 28: Riven Again

Speak to Riven. Riven is getting a touch desperate in her hunt for her eggs, though again, if you went through Starcrossed and are aware of what Taken corruption can do to a creature (read: bad things), she’s right to be worried.

Step 29: Complete Synchysis

Complete the Synchysis mission. Another week, another go around in Riven’s Lair before you do more Riven’s Lair and The Coil.

Step 30: Speak with the Queen

Speak to Mara Sov at the H.E.L.M. Mara grows more concerned about current events by the day, and has some thoughts to share about everything.

Step 31: Become Ascendant

Complete an Ascendant Challenge. Here’s where I have to disappoint you. Depending on when you get to this step, there is likely a different Ascendant Challenge accessible somewhere in the Dreaming City. Each of them is different mechanically and take various methods to start, but all have one thing in common: you need to use a Tincture of Queensfoil to see the portal that leads to them. Petra Venj will sell them to you for a few thousand Glimmer. The location of the portal leading to the challenge will be on your Dreaming City map, though how you reach them varies.

Completing an Ascendant Challenge takes different tactics depending on which is active that week. Some have you avoiding giant Hive Knights and dunking balls, others have you removing shields, and others are more platform-centric.

Step 32: Petra and That Same Holoprojector

Speak with Petra at the Holoprojector. Petra has one more task for you to complete.

Step 33: Time for Riven’s Lair

Complete pathways in Riven’s Lair or The Coil. For this section, you need to complete three pathways, and depending on the availability of a competent fireteam to help with matters, it’s probably quicker to run three instances of the much easier Riven’s Lair activity. I did, and it didn’t take long at all.

Step 34: Riven Drops a Bombshell

Observe the conversation between Riven, Mara, and Osiris. There’s been a…complication to the whole “wish our way into the Traveler” business.

Step 35: Osiris Has an Idea

Speak with Osiris at the Holoprojector. With Riven’s help, Osiris may have just uncovered a way to let everyone into the Traveler to pursue the Witness.

Step 36: Another Day, Another Dragon

Speak to Riven. For the first time, the paracausal dragon is being straight with us, and it’s about damn time.

Wishing All the Best: All Week 6 Quest Steps

Step 37: Same Dragon Time, Same Dragon Channel

Speak to Riven. Riven is touched by your motivations and wishes to pontificate on them.

Step 38: Speak with Crow (who is also Uldren, kind of)

Speak with Crow at the H.E.L.M. Crow has an…outlandish and wildly dangerous idea.

Step 39: Talk to Petra’s Hologram

Speak with Petra at the Holoprojector. Petra has a new mission for you.

Step 40: Cleanse the Dreaming City of Oracles

The first of two grindy steps in this week’s mission, here you need to go to three of the outlying areas of the Dreaming City and defeat enemies and destroy Oracle crystal structures to cleanse each place. Defeated enemies will drop Gambit-style motes you can pick up to earn Prismatic Telemetry. Each mote is worth one Telemetry, and each Oracle is worth 25.

You need to earn 100 Telemetry per area to fully cleanse it, which usually involves clearing every enemy there as well as three Oracles. You can farm enemies by entering and leaving the zones as well as by taking portals, or sometimes, in my runs, simply leaving a room for another and waiting like 30 seconds.

Step 41: More Blind Well (bleh)

Complete runs of the Blind Well. For the second and hopefully final time, you need to head into the Blind Well and complete enough successful runs to fill the progress bar. As before, two tier 4 Heroic completions is the fastest way, and because you can launch the activity directly from the Dreaming City map, you should have a good amount of help even playing solo.

Step 41: Interact with Mara’s Old Throne

Visit Mara’s throne. A new waypoint in the Spire of Keres will lead you to the portal to Mara’s Throne. You’ll need to “Present an Offering” at the large purple orbs.

They’ll then move to open a portal to Mara’s old throne in the sky. Head to the back of the room and interact with her throne (you need to get close), and she’ll wax nostalgic. Once she finishes speaking, you can leave.

Step 42: Crow Tells Everyone About the Plan

Observe the conversation in the H.E.L.M. Crow, Mara, and Osiris have a difficult talk. You’re there as window dressing.

Step 43: Riven

Speak to Riven. She has stuff to say.

Step 44: More Riven

Speak to Riven. Despite herself, Riven is mildly melancholic, and has some things to say on the matter.

Step 45: The Final Egg Mission

Complete the “Chiasmus” mission.

The most unique of the weekly missions, Chiasmus takes you to a new set of locations within the Confluence, ending in a very, very hectic boss fight. You’ll need a solid build and a good sense of timing to succeed, as you’ll be breaking shields with the Ephemeral Virus buff again.

Step 46: Crow

Speak with Crow at the H.E.L.M. Crow has finally found his footing, and wants to talk to you about it.

Another week in the books. Get to grinding, Guardian!

Step 47: Make the 15th Wish

You’re headed into the early section of the Last Wish Raid to the Wall of Wishes, much like you did at the beginning of the season. Follow the platforms and shoot the symbols the Deepsight node reveals.

Step 48: Watch the Final Cutscene, Speak to Mara Sov

Crow, Mara, and Petra discussing next steps
Screenshot by GameSkinny

Speak to Mara Sov at the H.E.L.M. After watching Riven grant her final wish, she and Crow depart in different directions. Mara has a few words to say on the matter, a small reward to grant, and you see the end of the Wishing All the Best questline.

There is plenty more to grind, from Wish-Keeper catalysts to seasonal weapons and whatever else Bungie has in store during the long wait till The Final Shape this June. Get to it, Guardians!

Those are all the steps in the Wishing All the Best weekly mission in Destiny 2: Season of the Wish, so while you grind, keep your eyes on our guides on using the Destiny 2 heatmap, the 13 Exotics you need right now, and more in our D2 guides hub.
