Destiny 2: Season of the Deep – How to Get Epochal Integration with the Parting the Veil Quest

Here's what you need to do to get your hands on your very own Epochal Integration in Destiny 2.

The Epochal Integration is a Legendary Hand Cannon in Destiny 2 that released alongside Season of the Deep. It’s actually a Lightfall expansion weapon, available to all owners of that larger content drop. A 140 RPM weapon with solid stats and a static selection of perks, its primary purpose seems to be ushering in heretofore unreachable Hand Cannon PvE relevance. We’ll cover how to get it in this guide.

How to Get Epochal Integration in Destiny 2

If you own the Lightfall expansion, you can get the Epochal Integration by completing the Parting the Veil story quest. A six-part quest that won’t ask much of you for most of its runtime, it nevertheless has some parts that can pose a bit of a challenge if you aren’t paying attention (like I wasn’t). Here are all the steps.

Destiny 2 Parting the Veil Step 1: Defeat Cabal on Neomuna

Start Parting the Veil by speaking to Nimbus on Neomuna. The quest is available only if you have also completed the Unfinished Business Exotic Quest received during the Lightfall campaign. Nimbus will send you to defeat some Cabal on Neomuna and collect the Vex Tracking Data they drop.

The easiest way to get the tracking data is to start a Terminal Overload activity, defeat the Cabal you need, then book it to the next step. Active Terminal Overloads are also worthwhile for the loot and reputation you can earn. If Cabal are all you’re after, there’s no shame in letting the one you start expire.

From Liming Harbor, head east into the cave system, past the Cabal on the platforms, into the second set of caves. There you’ll see a Vex spire surrounded by shielded Harpies and tons of enemies to defeat.

These waves start with Goblins, Hobgoblins, and Fanatics, but quickly add orange bar Minotaurs and Wyverns. Clearing each wave allows you to destroy one of the Harpies around the spire, and the final wave includes a boss-level Wyvern, which will one-shot you with its Warp Lance if given the chance.

When you finally defeat everything (a matter of time, as there is no respawn restriction), go up to the spire and interact with it to get the data.

West of Zephyr Concourse, over across the rooftops and awnings and through a portal, you’ll reach Irkalla Complex, just outside the complex where the Veil hides. It’s also where you made your last stand with Caiatl in the campaign.

There are plenty of additional Vex here to destroy. Clear the first set of Goblins to spawn the starting wave, which is much the same as the last Vex encounter: Goblins, Fanatics, Hobgoblins, and a single Wyvern. The difference now: a pair of Hydras will also appear in every wave. head to the rear of the area with the raised platforms and use line of sight to avoid the worst of the onslaught, as this fight will put you in the ground quickly if you’re careless.

Destiny 2 Parting the Veil Step 4: Complete the Parting the Veil Story Mission

After you collect the final piece of Vex data, a mission flag will appear next to the entrance to the Veil containment facility. Activate it to enter the Parting the Veil mission. The first section sees you making your way all the way down to the server room overlooking the Veil itself, where you’ll hear a voice log from Chioma Esi, one of Neomuna’s founders.

Shortly after the log ends, Taken will invade, and you’ll need to book it to the arena where you last fought Calus at the end of the Lightfall campaign. There, instead of Calus, you’ll fight a boss-level Tormentor in a two-phase encounter.

The first phase of the fight is like any other against a Tormentor: break its shoulders then damage its chest. Once you remove 33% of its health, it will block off the outer area of the arena, forcing you to engage in close quarters.

Unless you’re right at 1770 Power or under, even this boss Tormentor can’t necessarily kill you in one hit. That said, you can be sent flying from its slam, either killing you outright or putting you at one health. The boss’s attacks, thanks to its size, cover a good portion of the arena so you’ll need to stay mobile.

When you do defeat the Tormentor, listen to the dialog that comes, then proceed to the next step.

This step is simple, and leads directly into the last one. Head to the Hall of Heroes and rest at the Pouka Pond.

Destiny 2 Parting the Veil Step 6: Collect the Epochal Integration

As soon as you enter the meditate screen at the Pouka Pond, you’ll be able to claim the Epochal Integration. It currently comes with a fixed roll:

  • Barrel: Smallbore
  • Magazine: Ricochet Rounds
  • Trait 1: Keep Away or Stats for All
  • Trait 2: Eye of the Storm or Incandescent

Between the two Origin Traits, you’ll probably want to stick with Nanotech Tracer Rockets for the flat damage bonus it provides.

It seems like we only get the one, but if the dialog during the mission is any indication, we’ll probably be returning to this activity week-over-week for new rolls of the weapon. Or maybe not, and we’re left with this good but heavily off-meta choice of Hand Cannon. Which would be a shame.

That all taken care of, you’ll have Destiny 2‘s Epochal Integration on hand. To learn more about Destiny 2‘s many rewards across Season of the Deep and the game more generally, check out our D2 guides hub.
