Crashing has been a part of the Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy experience for PC players, but you don’t have to just suck it up if the game is crashing for you. There are some quick fixes to Guardians of the Galaxy crashing that might help you, and we’re going to go over them in this guide.

Reinstall Guardians of the Galaxy

First things first, you’re going to want to do a complete reinstallation of the Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. For many players, this has immediately solved their issue of the frequent crashing. Do this and give the game a try. If it is still crashing, you can try these other troubleshooting methods.

Update Your Graphics Card Drivers

Crashing issues like these in games are commonly caused by graphics card issues. You’re going to want to make sure that yours is up to date to play Guardians of the Galaxy.

Open up your device manager and find your graphics card under Display Adapters. Double-click it, navigate to the Driver tab, then click “Update Driver”. If it tells you that you can’t update, uninstall it instead, then reinstall it entirely.

Verify Your Game Files

If Guardians of the Galaxy is still crashing, it may be an issue with the game’s files. Open up your Steam library and right click the title. Click Properties, then Local Files. Choose to verify the integrity of game files.

Occasionally, game files can be corrupted or be missing entirely, so this should recover or repair those if there are any. After it is complete, restart and launch the game once again.

Disable Your Anti-virus and Firewall

Your game files can sometimes falsely be acted against by faulty firewall or anti-virus programs. You can disable your anti-virus software to get around this, if you’re finding Guardians of the Galaxy to be crashing.

Start by searching “Windows Security” in the start menu, then go to Virus and Threat Protection, and Manage Settings. Turn off real-time protection, then restart your computer.

Do a Clean Boot

If you’re still having trouble with Guardians of the Galaxy crashing, you can perform a clean boot of your PC. To do this, open up your task manager and go to the Startup tab. Disable any enabled applications that launch on startup, then restart your computer. Load the game without any background tasks running and see if this alleviates the crashing problem at all.

If none of these solutions are working for you, you may just have to wait for a patch to roll out, unfortunately. The developers are aware of the issue, as countless players are contacting support about it, so hopefully we see a crash fixing patch roll out soon for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
