The Honkai Star Rail Boulder Town Super League Event is the game’s first event since launching in April 2023. Our guide gives you the top strategies for beating the Boulder Town Super League in HSR.

How to Unlock the HSR Boulder Town Super League

This new Boulder Town Super League event does have some prerequisites before it can be unlocked. You’ll need to meet the following requirements before you can access the mode:

  • Reach a minimum Trailblaze Level of 21
  • Finish the “Not Good With Farewells” Trailblaze Mission
  • Finish the “Ring and Stage I”, “Ring and Stage II”, and “Gladiator” Adventure Missions

This game mode is accessed by talking to Mr. Dig at the Fight Club in Boulder Town. Five different weight class tournaments are available, and each is split into four rounds. Aside from the final round, which has set enemies, the previous enemies are all randomly picked. Unique buffs are provided for each round, and each tournament features a specific trial character to use as well.

Boulder Town Event Length and Rewards

The two-week-long event includes limited-time rewards based on winning within a certain number of turns. The rewards are worth it as they include Stellar Jade and materials to level up your characters, light cones, and relics. Beating all five tournaments will also provide one Tracks of Destiny material.

Weakness Breaks are the focus of this tournament’s buffs. Each one is helpful, but the Depredate buff you receive before the final round is especially important as inflicting Weakness Break on just one enemy will inflict it on all enemies.

Best Team Strategy

The Featherweight trial character is Jing Yuan. You’ll be recommended to take a team with Wind, Quantum, Fire, and Electric character types. I was able to beat the tournament with a free character team of these types, but you might have better luck taking out the Fire type for Physical or Ice due to the prevalence of Silvermane Guard enemies.

  • Dan Heng
  • Qingque
  • Trailblazer (Preservation)/Asta
  • Jing Yuan

When it comes to the final round against an Ice Out of Space and Blaze Out of Space, my suggestion is to focus on the former. That particular enemy has weaknesses covered by the entire team, and with the Depredate buff you can affect both.

Buffs

This set of buffs is a bit more varied than the previous one, although a common requirement is single-target abilities. Divide and Conquer is incredibly important for the final round as it increases DMG by 300% when there is only one enemy left.

The recommended team layout is Wind, Fire, Electric, and Ice. I was able to clear this with a free team (and the trial character Hook) since they mostly focused on characters that have single-target abilities:

  • Dan Heng
  • Hook
  • Serval
  • March 7th

You should be able to coast by easily through the first three rounds, while the last round against the Decaying Shadow and a Searing Prowler will go swimmingly if you focus on the former. The Searing Prowler has one less applicable weakness, but the DMG increase from the Divide and Conquer buff will make up for it. Try to save just one or two ultimates for it, and it’ll fall in no time.

These buffs are mostly focused on follow-up attacks. The Indiscriminate Blitz buff considers Ultimates as follow-up attacks, so any character can be useful here, but those with natural follow-up attacks are best suited. Arsonous Larceny is also an especially important buff here since it maximizes energy for the entire team when an enemy is inflicted with Weakness Break.

The trial character for this tournament is Serval, and the recommended team layout is Fire, Electric, Ice, and Imaginary. Since there aren’t any free imaginary characters, I was able to make do with the following:

  • Trailblazer (Preservation)
  • Serval
  • Herta
  • March 7th

Herta’s follow-up attacks are a big help here, and by using the shield-providing talent from Trailblazer (Preservation), March 7th’s follow-up attacks are more consistently triggered as well. The final round is against a Frigid Prowler and an Automaton Direwolf.

What helped me was to break the Direwolf’s weakness first to activate the Arsonous Larceny buff. After that, use as many ultimates as possible before the Frigid Prowler’s weakness is broken too. Once you’ve done so, Arsonous Larceny will activate again, and the ultimates will be available again, allowing you to pile on with more.

Buffs

All of the Middleweight tournament buffs revolve around gaining shields as well as follow-ups to the Overbreathing buff in particular, which provides Overbreathing stacks for each shield gained.

Working well with the buffs is Gepard as a trial character. For those wanting to play with a free team, I suggest not following the character recommendations exactly and going with the following:

  • Dan Heng
  • Trailblazer (Preservation)
  • Qingque
  • Gepard

The Overbreathing Buff is a vital part of this tournament, and the above team makes the most use of it. Skills and Ultimates will provide individual shields, while both Gepard’s Ultimate and any action from the Trailblazer (Preservation) will provide shields for the entire team. With those two on the team, you can focus entirely on damage and throwing out ultimates as soon as you get them.

Round four of this HSR Boulder Town Super League fight will be against an Ice Out of Space and a Guardian Shadow. Take out the former and then use all of the shields to tank any restrictions the latter throws against you to finish this round fast.

Like the Featherweight tournament, Weakness Break is the theme here. Two of the same buffs are even shared with Premonition and Depredate.

Your trial character for this tournament is Himeko, who I strongly suggest taking on due to the extra damage her follow-up attacks will provide. The following free team handled this all with ease:

  • Dan Heng
  • Himeko
  • Serval
  • Qingque

Svarog is the last enemy in the final round, but the buffs will make this an easier fight than the one in the story. Focus on dealing as much damage as possible to build up to an ultimate and break his weakness before his next turn.

Whether you’re able to or not, you’ll want to save one Ultimate that isn’t Himeko’s. Svarog’s next turn will likely see him summon an Auxiliary Robot Arm Unit that will attempt to capture one of your allies. Immediately interject with an Ultimate to break the arm’s weakness as well as Svarog’s thanks to the Depredate buff.

Follow these tips, and you’ll easily overcome the Boulder Town Super League Event in Honkai Star Rail. If your characters aren’t strong enough for the event, we can help you level them up fast. For everything else, check out our Honkai Star Rail guides hub.
