The quests and activities in Honkai Star Rail aren’t always spelled out. On the Xianzhou Luofu, there’s even a hidden quest that can be entirely missed if you don’t interact with a particular item. This is how to complete the Pawnbroker Handian Item Trading Quest in HSR.
How to Begin the Pawnbroker Handian Quest
The Pawnbroker Handian quest begins at the Jeweler’s Pagoda pawnshop in the Central Starskiff Haven area. If you’re not around there, use the Starwatcher Avenue Space Anchor to fast travel right across from it. A shiny object can be seen on the left side of the shop’s counter. After interacting with it, you’ll learn that it’s a Dirty Mechanical Part.

The owner of the shop, Pawnbroker Handian, will appear to give you a bit of a hard time for randomly picking it up. He’ll soon relent and then begin to direct you to someone who might find it more valuable. His hints won’t be a lot to go off of, but it won’t be long until you have some nice rewards.
Trading the Dirty Mechanical Part
According to the pawnbroker, he heard someone talking about revenge under their breath and believes they’ll make good use of the item. Remember that this isn’t a proper quest, and that means you can’t rely on your map to tell you exactly where to go.
The man you’re looking for is thankfully very close by. All you need to do is turn around and speak to the Frowning Young Man standing near the Space Anchor. Talk to him to hear why he has a desire for revenge and why he’s looking for a small mechanical component.Â
You’ll then be able to present the dirty mechanical part to him. Although it isn’t the same as the one he’s looking for, it’s still good enough for him to take it and provide you with a locked Iron Box in return.
Trading the Iron Box
Walk back to the pawnbroker to see what you could get for the box. He won’t offer anything for it, but will instead direct you toward the Spare Time Book Shop in the Exalting Sanctum. Fast travel to the Court of Tranquility Space Anchor and walk directly northeast to arrive at the shop.
Approach it, and you’ll automatically trigger a dialogue between a Sad Woman and the shopkeeper. The former will conveniently question whether they have any physical iron boxes available. After listening to her pleas and talking with her directly, you’ll have the option to show her the Iron Box. She’ll have a key that opens it and, after reading the personal contents, will reward you with a jar of Draconic Tears.
Trading the Draconic Tears
Fast travel back to the Jeweler’s Pagoda and speak with Pawnbroker Handian. He’ll offer one last hint that some Xianzhou aficionado from the IPC has arrived on board, and they could be interested in the Draconic Tears.
This final hint doesn’t provide a location, but that’s because you won’t even need to travel fast to find who you’re looking for. Turn right from the pawnshop and walk over to the tables underneath the green patio umbrellas. Talk to the man named Howard, who’s sitting at the first table next to the bridge. In between his excitement and appreciation for Xianzhou culture, he’ll mention that he wants Draconic Tears.
Hand them over, and he’ll end this trading chain by giving you the readable On Travel: Arriving at the Xianzhou as well as the following:
- 10x Stellar Jade
- 10x Strale
- 5000x Credit
Follow these steps, and you’ll complete the Honkai Star Rail Pawnbroker Handian Item Trading quest. The rewards aren’t amazing, but they’re still pretty good for something that will only take you a few minutes to complete.
