Fortnite Rocket Racing Matchmaking Error 208 Fixes

Both new Fortnite modes are packed full of people today and probably will be for the forseeable future, with LEGO Fortnite being an actual LEGO game alternative to Minecraft and Rocket Racing being developed by the Rocket League developers. Both new modes are highly anticipated and of just as high of quality as you’d expect from the studios behind them. Both are also giving players frequent matchmaking errors.

With so many people trying to get into both games, there are bound to be server issues. In Rocket Racing‘s case, a chunk of those issues lie in matchmaking error 208 when trying to connect to a lobby. You’ll at least be glad to hear that error code 208 isn’t your connection or game’s fault, it’s just a matter of Epic’s servers having trouble letting the swaths of players in.

Potential Methods to Get Around the 208 Matchmaking Error

Here are some things you can do to make sure everything’s golden on your end:

  • Check the Epic Games server status page. The Fortnite servers are the ones you want to check. If they’re all green and say “Operational,” the servers aren’t down. Though, that doesn’t mean they’re not overwhelmed.
  • Check out the Fortnite Status X (Twitter) account. You may be able to see if there are widespread issues not shown on the server status page.
  • Keep mashing the “Play” button. I’m sure you’ve been doing this already, but sometimes the only way is to brute force your way through.
  • Relaunch the game if you’re repeatedly getting error 208. It just might help!
  • Hard reset your internet connection. You do this by unplugging your modem and/or router for at least 10 seconds, then reconnect the power and wait for your connection to return.

Mashing the “Play” button is what worked for me, because this is purely a server problem. You’ll be able to fix matchmaking error code 208 in Fortnite Rocket Racing soon enough, either by brute forcing your way through or by patience. Both are your only options, in any case.
