Where to Find a Nautilus in Minecraft

Nautiluses are found in every ocean biome in Minecraft. This includes Warm Oceans, Lukewarm Oceans, regular Ocean biomes, Cold Oceans, and even Frozen Oceans. The benefit of Nautiluses spawning in so many places is that you can find them in every world you play in.

How to Tame a Minecraft Nautilus

Taming any animal in Minecraft requires you to give them their favorite food over and over until red hearts appear around them. A Nautilus’ preferred food is either pufferfish or a bucket of pufferfish.

Feed any wild Nautilus one or both of these foods until they produce a swarm of red hearts. These red hearts will indicate you have tamed them. Tamed Nautiluses can be ridden and bred with other tamed Nautiluses to make baby Nautiluses.

How to Get Pufferfish in Minecraft

There are two main ways to get Pufferfish for taming Nautiluses. The first method is by catching them with any fishing rod. They are less common to catch than raw cod and raw salmon, but still common enough that you’ll end up with several in your pockets after a fishing session.

The second method is to find Pufferfish swimming around Lukewarm or Warm Oceans and punch them. They will be flat while swimming, so you should focus on searching for their color palette rather than looking for a round fish. Despite their flatness, their drop will still appear as a round pufferfish.

How to Ride a Nautilus in Minecraft

In Minecraft, players can ride tamed Nautiluses through the ocean. Riding a tamed Nautilus without a saddle puts you on its back as it gently floats around. If you want to choose the direction you swim in, you must put a saddle on the Nautilus before you ride it.

• Use the crouch button to get off your Nautilus.

Equipping Nautilus Armor on a tamed Nautilus requires you to have the Nautilus Armor in your inventory. Hit the crouch button and interact with the Nautilus to open up its inventory. Place the Nautilus Armor in the lowest slot, which is beneath the Nautilus’ saddle.

How to Get Nautilus Armor

Nautilus Armor does not currently have a crafting recipe. Instead, players will need to find Nautilus Armor in chests in one of the three following locations:

• Buried Treasure Chests
• Cold Ocean Ruins
• Shipwrecks
• Warm Ocean Ruins

How to Breed Nautiluses in Minecraft

The only things you’ll need to breed a baby Nautilus are two tamed adult Nautiluses and pufferfish or buckets of pufferfish. Feed each tamed Nautilus one of these items while near each other. They will come together to create a baby Nautilus.

Baby Nautilus cannot be bred. Instead, when they eat enough Pufferfish or buckets of pufferfish, they grow into their adult forms faster.
