How to Get Planks to Build Structures in Fortnite LEGO

In the beginning of the game, you’ll quickly realize that Planks are required for most of the LEGO builds. Thankfully, these aren’t hard to come by.

How to Make a Lumber Mill

The first thing you’ll need to make Planks is the Lumber Mill. Once you’ve placed your first Crafting Bench, you’ll find the Lumber Mill in your Builds menu in the Stations category of the Utility tab. You can build the Lumber Mill with:

  • 8 Wood
  • 15 Granite

Wood and Granite can be found all over the beginning area, so they won’t be hard to find. You can find wood as sticks and branches and Granite as small rocks. Alternatively, you can also chop down trees or mine larger rocks with an Axe and Pickaxe, which will give you more resources.

How to Craft Planks

Now that you have your Lumber Mill built and set up, you can now craft Planks. Once you interact with the Lumber Mill you can assign your desired recipe. In this instance, Planks. You can insert any Wood you’ve collected, and the Mill will turn it into Planks. For every piece of Wood you put in, you’ll get 1 plank. Remember, though: you have to take the planks out of the Lumber Mill and put them into your Inventory. The game won’t do it automatically.

Lumber Mill Not Working? Here’s Why

However, if it’s raining, your Lumber Mill won’t work. To fix this, you can build a covering over it with a roof and some supports. This way you can use it whenever you want despite the crummy weather.
