How to Make Farm Beds and Speed Up Crop Growth in Enshrouded

You have to get a little creative to make farm beds in Enshrouded.

After you unlock the Farmer NPC and start salivating over what Seedbeds do, planting crops to save you and your friends time and energy is a good course of action. Regular ground works, but there’s a better way. Here, I’ll tell you how to make proper farm beds in Enshrouded.

How to Farm Using Farm Soil in Enshrouded

You’re well on your way to farming in Enshrouded once you have the Seedbed and start churning out seedlings. Planting crops requires Seedlings. Though you can plant Seedlings in regular soil, it takes longer for them to grow. Luckily, setting up Seedbeds is the first step toward making Farm Beds, which is a much more efficient way to grow crops.

Making a proper Farm Bed with Farm Soil accelerates crop growth by at least three times the normal growth rate. That’s why I make Farm Plots sooner rather than later.

How to Unlock Seedbeds

Unlock the Farmer NPC to unlock Seedbeds. It’s one of her crafting recipes. The Farmer’s Vault location is marked on the map below. It’s directly north of the Blacksmith’s Vault. The Vault’s marker appears after you unlock the Hunter and Alchemist.

After you unlock the Farmer, place her at one of your bases. Now you can make a Seedbed with x10 Wood Logs, x2 Metal Scraps, and x10 Farm Soil.

Use the Seedbed to create seedlings for the plants you find throughout your travels. You already probably have something in mind. I plant Twigs for arrows and Plant Fiber for general use, as well as Red Mushrooms and Purple Mushrooms for potions.

There isn’t a workstation or item named “Farm Bed” in Enshrouded. It’s something you must make yourself using soil — and crops grow faster with Farm Soil. Make sure you have plenty in your inventory, then take out your Construction Hammer.

  1. Open Building Mode.
  2. Scroll down to the Terrain row.
  3. Change the material you want to use to Farm Soil.
    • You can see which material you’ve selected on the right side of the screen.
  4. Place your Farm Soil block.
    • Each Terrain block of Farm Soil requires only one, regardless of size.
    • If you’ve accidentally placed them unevenly, flatten them out with a Rake.

Now place your seedlings from your Hotbar as you would furniture. If you’d rather have a decorative farm plot layout, you can place other block types around your farm beds. The below image is just an example I put together quickly, to give you some ideas.

I can assure you this process isn’t arduous and is the best way to grow crops. Now that you know how to make farm beds in Enshrouded, you can really start farming to your heart’s content. As a bow user, I wouldn’t plant crops any other way. Check out more of our guides here on GameSkinny, such as how to make Explosive Arrows and what Old Books do.
