Cloud’s retelling of his return to Nibelheim with Sephiroth in Chapter 1 is crucial to the story. That said, you don’t necessarily need to play it twice to grasp the gravity of it. The faster you get through it, the closer you are to unlocking adorable Chocobos and testing your mettle in more battles.

Check Your FF7 Rebirth Demo Saved Data

To skip the Nibelheim flashback, you’ll need to confirm that you have eligible saved data from the Rebirth demo on your console. On the title screen, go to the Bonuses tab and select “Check Saved Data” to see what you can claim. If you deleted the demo’s saved data, you can’t claim the bonus items or the Chapter 1 skip.

When you start FF7 Rebirth, you’ll still need to play through a portion of the demo content again. This includes visiting Cloud’s mom, climbing the water tower, playing the piano, and more. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes. But it’ll likely go quicker since you’ve already played it. Simply put, just play normally.

Play Chapter 1 Until the Journey to Mt. Nibel

Shortly after you begin running up Mt. Nibel with Sephiroth and Tifa, you encounter some enemies and go through a brief combat refresher. Defeat them and a cutscene will trigger with Tifa saying, “That was awesome!”

After that, you’ll get the pop-up prompt to skip. This allows you to bypass the mako reactor investigation and all the fighting that comes with it, saving a ton of time. Instead, you’ll jump to the Nibelheim Inn at night when Sephiroth has gone missing.

That’s how to skip a good portion of Chapter 1 in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, if you’ve completed the demo. While you can’t skip the entire chapter, it still lets you bypass battling Screamers and slowly dragging machines to purify the air of mako gas.
