Is Content Warning Still Free?

Free gibs?

Just out of nowhere, Content Warning was released on Steam with a special promotion. This special promotion involved giving out this game to every player who wanted to claim it on the day of the release: April 1, 2024. However, can you still get Content Warning for free on Steam?

Can You Still Get Content Warning for Free on Steam?

Sadly, Content Warning is no longer free on Steam. The release promotion period was active for 24 hours after the game’s release. During that time, you could go to the Content Warning Steam Store page and claim it, whether you’re doing it from the Steam Client, Web browser, or Steam mobile app. Now, the regular price of Content Warning is $7.99. Millions of players have claimed it.

Why is Content Warning Not Free on Steam Anymore?

Landfall, the people behind Content Warning, decided to make this “free to claim and keep” promotion on just the first day of the release. Based on their statements, they were utterly shocked that so many players claimed the game in such a short period. Of course, that’s actually a tremendous amount of flattery to them. Still, they honestly have not expected such a response from the public.

Will Content Warning Be Free on Steam in the Future?

Given that Landfall has stated that it is now met with rising server costs due to the overnight fame and notoriety Content Warning has gained, it’s highly improbable that Content Warning will repeat this promotion. The company is for all the support and promised improvements to the game, but the price tag will be $7.99 moving forward. That’s not a lot, to be honest. It’s less than Lethal Company, the game everyone compares Content Warning with.
