LotR Return to Moria: How to Use a Controller

It’s quite an easy process with no extra steps beyond plugging an eligible controller in. In this article, we’ll go over how well controller support is implemented and what are some current issues with them.

How to Use a Controller in Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria

As someone who usually prefers to play games using a controller, I was very happy to see that the controller layout was ported well onto the PC version of LotR: Return to Moria. Of course, these are the same controls that will be used for the upcoming PS5 version. I’ve tried using both a wireless PS5 controller via a USB-C cable and a wired Xbox controller. Both are working really well.

All you need to do is plug one in and that’s pretty much it. No special setup or configuration is necessary. The game will automatically recognize the controller and switch display commands. You can also seamlessly switch between controllers and keyboard/mouse control.

Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria Known Controller Issues

There are some lesser issues though when a controller is plugged into your PC alongside a mouse and a keyboard. They are as follows:

  • If your controller is plugged in and you are playing on a keyboard/mouse, the controller will still vibrate when you use heavy attack for example.
  • Your camera, like in character creation, can randomly spin for no reason. Restarting the game and unplugging the controller fixes this issue. This can cause problems when placing buildings since you cannot move them.
  • In rare cases, Xbox controllers will sometimes randomly not be registered by the game.

It’s noteworthy to mention that the game is still in its early stages and that most controller issues will soon be fixed. Especially because the PS5 version will launch on December 5.

We hope you found this guide on how to use a controller in LotR Return to Moria useful. It’s ultimately up to personal preference, but both the controller and keyboard/mouse control schemes are well-designed.
