Remnant 2: How to Beat the Corruptor Boss

Take out the floating Corruptor blob in Remnant 2.

Remnant 2 has numerous enemies that will truly test your mettle. One example is the Corruptor boss, which is found in the Yaesha region. This is akin to a 2-on-1 handicap match: you don’t just contend with this creature, but you also need to be wary of the Guardian Construct. Here’s our guide on how to beat the Corruptor in Remnant 2.

How to Beat the Corruptor in Remnant 2

To beat the Corruptor boss, you need to be mindful of abilities and hazards, such as destructive beam lasers and the ever-present Guardian Construct. For this particular guide, we focus on a more straightforward means of defeating your foe. Still, we also add some tidbits regarding an alternate method, which is discussed in detail separately.

Likewise, bear in mind that the game features dynamic campaign progression. As such, if you go to the Yaesha region, you need to start in the Red Throne area, as the quest eventually leads to the Corruptor. However, if you start in the Forbidden Glade, that means you got a different quest arc/main boss. You have to do an Adventure Mode run if you want to experience other battles and outcomes.

Corruptor Abilities

The Corruptor and Guardian Construct have the following abilities:

  • Environmental hazard: Falling — The arena has three long platforms with small steps that allow you to jump to the other side. Falling down the chasms will instantly kill your character.
  • Guardian: Flying Sword Arms — The golem will chase you around, often making its sword arms fly to slash and swipe at you.
  • Guardian: Leaping Smash — The construct can also close the distance by jumping high up in the air, before crashing down on the ground.
  • Corruptor: Devastation Beam — The Corruptor starts the fight partially damaged. As you bring it closer to 50% HP, it will fire a deadly beam that covers an entire side of the map.
  • Corruptor: Revival Protocol — If the golem is downed, the Corruptor will float toward it and attempt to revive it.

Corruptor Strategy

The most straightforward way to defeat the Corruptor boss in Remnant 2 is by taking out the Guardian Construct. In my case, I relied heavily on the Enigma handgun. Its constant stream of electricity and unique mod ensured that I could hit and destroy most of the robot’s arms, preventing it from attacking me with its sword. I also used a Long Gun with good accuracy to shoot its head whenever possible.

As for the Corruptor, its weak spot is its mouth, though it only opens when it’s about to fire the Devastation Beam. Make sure to jump to another platform to avoid it, being extra careful not to fall to your doom. Then, quickly shoot its mouth before the small window of opportunity closes.

In my playthrough, since I was also able to down the Guardian, the Corruptor flew to it as it attempted to cast a revive spell. When this occurred, I was able to see its weak spot underneath, allowing me to unload with everything I had for several seconds.

Twisted Arbalest Stats

If you defeat the Corruptor while also downing the Guardian at least once, you’ll receive the Twisted Lazurite, which lets you craft the Twisted Arbalest. It has the following features:

  • Damage: 80
  • RPS: 2
  • Magazine: 1
  • Basic shot: It fires a bouncing energy disc that can hit up to five enemies. The damage decreases with each bounce.
  • Unique mod: Guardian’s Call – When mod power is full, your basic shot becomes empowered and highlights all enemies that it hits. Mod activation also calls down a Guardian Sword on all enemies hit by empowered discs. The swords deal 125 damage and three times the stagger within three meters.

Alternate Kill Method and Reward: Stonebreaker

Now, you might be wondering if there’s a different way to take out this foe. Well, there certainly is, though that involves eliminating it without downing the Guardian Construct even once. This nets you an entirely different reward, which we discuss in our Stonebreaker guide.

That’s how to beat the Corruptor in Remnant 2. For other tips and strategies for bosses, hidden items, and weapons, head over to our R2 guides hub.
