At its core, Apex Legends is still the same game that players fell in love with at launch, though it has gone through its fair share of changes, particularly with its maps. Players just getting into the franchise this year have never experienced the original versions of Kings Canyon or Worlds Edge. 

However, that will change before the end of the month. 

The Genesis Collection is a new event just unveiled for the battle royale that recently entered its ninth season. So to celebrate, developer Respawn has decided to look back. The Season 0 version of Kings Canyon and the Season 3 version of World's Edge will be the maps for duos and trios starting June 29, 2021, all the way through July 13, 2021. 

There will also be a brand new addition to the new arenas game mode, with Skull Town, an area from the original Kings Canyon being added as a new arenas map. This event will also come with a bevy of updates, bug fixes, and legend adjustments.

Some of the most notable being Octane's jump pad cooldown increased from 60 to 90 seconds, and Revenant's hitbox being shrunk slightly while his climbing ability is increased. If you want to check out the rest of the updates, you can look at the full patch notes here.

One of Apex Legends' original and cockiest characters is about to get his own edition, and he's pretty chuffed about it. Apex Legends Mirage Edition has been announced, bringing with it a slick new look for, you guessed it, Mirage. 

The latest edition, which follows on from the Gibraltar Edition, comes with exclusive Mirage and Volt skins, a gun charm, badge, and 1,000 Apex Coins to boot. Mirage Edition retails for $19.99. However, for those with access to EA Play, their discount will bring that down to $17.99. 

Mirage's new look, appropriately titled "The Showstopper," will see him sport a monochromatic visor, topped off with a stylish white cowboy hat. And if that wasn't enough, then his custom silver-clad "Mantlepiece" Volt skin will complement this new look perfectly. Unlike many skins, which can be a little outlandish for the characters that don them, Mirage's new duds are right up his street.

With Legends getting up close and personal in the recently launched Arenas Mode just a couple of weeks ago, the Mirage Edition will likely be the perfect way to celebrate your victory in style. Apex Legends Mirage Edition is available now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners can play it via backwards compatibility. 

Developer Respawn Entertainment has released a new trailer for Apex Legends' upcoming Season 9. Like previous trailers released for the game recently, this one focuses on the new Legend Valkyrie, but rather than providing insight into her background, this trailer showcases almost 2 minutes of Valkyrie in action. 

The trailer outlines Valkyrie's different abilities in action, and it's already clear that this new legend will really shake up Apex Legends' gameplay.

Her passive ability is her jetpack, which refuels over time but can be used at will. Her tactical is a swarm of missiles she can rain down on enemies, and her ultimate allows her to launch her entire squad high in the air so they can reposition over long distances. 

Valkyrie's added firepower and mobility are sure to make her a welcomed asset to any Apex Legends squad, not just for the classic battle royale mode but also the new Arenas mode, which is set to arrive with the release of Season 9 on May 4.

The latest trailer for Season 9 of Apex Legends gives fans a better look at the upcoming addition to the roster, Valkyrie, a deeper look into how the game will continue to integrate elements from Titanfall 2, and the announcement of Arenas.

As we learned previously with the reveal of Valkyrie the Stories from the Outlands — Northstar trailer, Season 9 of Apex Legends will be available on May 4, 2021.

The new trailer features every available Legend so far and shows Valkyrie fly into the arena before using her ability to send a horde of missiles raining down on her enemies. The end of the trailer also shows off Valkyrie's new bow, the first bow added into Apex Legends, and one that will be in it's own weapon class known as "Marksman." 

As Respawn has previously indicated, they will be integrating more Titanfall 2 into Apex Legends, and the new trailer also reveals that Season 9 will include another character (other than Valkyrie) with deep ties to Titanfall 2 with Ash, who seems to be the one "pulling the strings" on whatever the new form of battles will take in Arenas. 

Smaller arena style combat mixed with the incredible traversal mechanics in Apex Legends could potentially have an great effect on gameplay, and make a game already praised for it's fast-paced combat even quicker. Stay tuned for more. 

With the announcement of Apex Legends Mobile, the Titanfall-adjacent battle royale will soon be available on every platform, including your phone.

The news comes from a blog post on the Apex Legends website, where Chad Grenier, Game Director for Apex Legends, reports this new version of the battle royal shooter is "specially designed for touchscreens, with streamlined controls and thoughtful optimizations that result in the most advanced battle royale combat available on a phone. It’s a new version of Apex Legends, but it’s true to the original."

Apex Legends will finally join its other battle royale comrades on mobile platforms, as it once again finds itself against the likes of Fortnite and Call of Duty Mobile. The first beta tests will be on a regional basis, starting this month in India and the Philippines. As of this writing, there is no word on when betas for other regions might begin. 

The official FAQ also confirms that Apex Legends Mobile will be free to play, though it will not feature cross-play with consoles and PC due to its development focus for mobile platforms.

With Apex Legends recent arrival on Nintendo Switch and now the announcement of a mobile version, it's clear how much Apex Legends has grown in its two years since launch. Season 9 is set to begin on May 4, and Respawn just revealed Valkyrie, the game's newest Legend.

Developer Respawn has announced a new legend will be joining the roster of their hit battle-royale Apex Legends. Valkyrie is the latest to be added to the retinue of heroes and has an origin story closely tied to the world of Titanfall. Respawn revealed Valkyrie and her background in Northstar, a new animated short in the Stories from the Outlands series.

Valkyrie, also known as Viper as a child, is shown to be connected Kubin Blisk through her father. 

The lore trailer also seems to confirm what we've been hearing of late regarding more of Titanfall being added into Apex Legends. Though the video doesn't confirm any connections outright, it does imply that Valkyrie could potentially be the first Legend we see with the ability to call on a Titan, something that could greatly affect Apex Legends' gameplay. 

Either way, we'll have to wait and see, as we should expect more official news to be just around the corner. May 4 is when Season 9 of Apex Legends will launch, and it will also bring the Bockek Bow into the fray.

Lifeline, one of the original roster members for Respawn's Apex Legends, will be getting a few changes in the game's next update as revealed from a Reddit AMA with developers. 

The changes will reportedly attempt to re-balance Lifeline, first by removing the ability for Lifeline's drone to drop a shield while reviving downed enemies. Other tweaks and changes will look to up Lifeline's tactical healing speed by 60% and buff Lifeline's ultimate to guarantee upgrades every time. 

The trade-off of speed and agility for a strong passive ability is an interesting one, and it will force many Lifeline players (myself included) to use their hero in new ways. 

More changes are on the horizon, though, for Apex Legends, with the start of Season 9 beginning to loom over the curtain of Season 8. Lifeline's alterations may just be the least effectual change to the game, as recent rumors have suggested that Titans could be a new addition to Apex Legends gameplay. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more. 

Apex Legends Nintendo Switch version releases March 9, Respawn and EA announced. The news of Apex Legends' impending release on Switch coincides with Apex Legends' Season 8, out today, that includes a brand-new playable Legend, new items, and more.

This marks the first time Apex Legends launches on a portable device, and Panic Button — known for their Doom Eternal and Wolfenstein II Switch ports — handled the Apex Legends Switch version.

Like other versions of Apex Legends, the Switch version is free to download. However, seasonal Battle Passes, including the Season 8 pass, cost coins earned through gameplay or available for purchase in the in-game store. These Battle Passes include new weapons, faster access to new Legends, and other rewards unlocked as players earn Battle Pass XP.

Playing the game is the normal way to level up Apex Legends' Battle Passes. Since the game's Switch version releases several weeks after Season 8's Battle Pass releases, however, Respawn is offering Switch players 30 free levels for the Season 8 Battle Pass. Switch players will also earn double XP for the first two weeks after March 9.

Apex Legends Season 8 introduces Walter Fitzroy, the Salvo Mercenary with a love of explosions, plus the 30-30 Repeater rifle, and new areas added to the Kings Canyon map.

Fight Night, the third event in the seventh season of Apex Legends, has just begun. The event includes two town and airdrop escalation takeovers, as well as the prize track system, which lets you maximize your point earnings.

As a reward, you can open Fight Night Packs that contain exclusive event items and more. This guide will provide you with tips on how to get Fight Night Packs, which items they contain, and more, including the Gibraltar set for collection all event items. 

How to Get Fight Night Packs in Apex Legends

Previous events in Apex Legends have given players two packs for free. Unfortunately, there aren't any free packs for this event. 

Instead, you must purchase Fight Night Packs from the in-game store for 700 coins per pack. Apex coins can be purchased with real money for the following amounts: 

• 1,000 Apex Coins = $9.99
• 2,000 (+150 bonus) Apex Coins = $19.99
• 4,000 (+350 bonus) Apex Coins = $39.99

Fight Night Packs contain 24 exclusive event cosmetics in total, but each pack contains only one such exclusive item and two regular, non-event loot items. Your chances of getting these items in one pack are:

• 50% for an event epic item; 50% for an event legendary item
• 70% for a non-event rare item (2x); 20% for a non-event epic item (2x); 10% for a non-event legendary item (2x)

If you don't want to test your luck with Fight Night Packs, then you could simply purchase any of the exclusive items separately. 

Once you collect all 24 pieces for the Fight Night event, you will be automatically rewarded with the Gibraltar's Heirloom Set, which consists of three items:

• Banner pose: Like a Rock
• Melee weapon skin: War Club
• Intro quip: "When this is over, you'll all know the name Gibraltar.'"

Apex Legends

The discussion around Apex Legends was incredible when it stealth launched in the winter of 2019. There was no marketing or hype -- it just randomly came out for free and exploded in popularity.

This battle royale takes a wonderful cast of characters (much like Overwatch) and mixes in the multiplayer survival elements popularized by Fortnite or PUBG. Though, Apex Legends is arguably a step up, thanks to its fluid gameplay. Sliding, jumping, running, and shooting just feels on point, making it tough to stop playing.

Each character has their own backstory and they all look, play, and feel different from one another, which is one of the games greatest strengths. Since Apex Legends is free, there's no excuse to skip this one. 

The PS4 is home to a slew of excellent shooters that are absolutely worth your time -- but these are some of the best you can currently play on PS5. There are lots to look forward to that will launch for PS5 in the future, but in the meantime, you've got plenty to hold you over. Let us know some of your favorites in the comments below.

Far Cry 3 Classic Edition

All of the Far Cry games are good, but something about Far Cry 3 has stuck with us more than the rest. Maybe it's because of the exotic island on which the game takes place, or the satisfying FPS gameplay. Or perhaps it has to do with the game's iconic villain, Vaas. 

Whatever the reason, there's a lot to love in Far Cry 3. Nowadays, open worlds are a dime a dozen, but in 2012 when this game debuted, it was a novel experience to see one as well done as this one. And sure, it's technically an Xbox 360/PS3 game, but the Classic Edition released for PS4 recently, featuring minor enhancements. 

It has smart upgrade systems, tons to do, and a gameplay loop that makes it hard to put down. The other entries are definitely worth checking out, too, but Far Cry 3 is on a league of its own. 

Wolfenstein: The New Order

Wolfenstein: The New Order is absolutely fascinating. Its alternate version of history is unsettling, the narrative and performances from its characters are exceptional, and the fantastic FPS gameplay ties everything together.

This game could have been bad, but MachineGames did a smart thing by doubling down on the story elements with The New Order, offering tense, and dramatic moments from beginning to end. 

And of course, it's wildly cathartic to mow down Nazis in the most brutal way possible: dual-wielding two massive machine guns to ensure they're taken out effectively. Or perhaps you'd rather use a rocket launcher. Either way, The New Order gives you plenty of toys at your disposal. It's worth checking out its sequel, The New Colossus, too! 

Resident Evil 7 Biohazard

Since the release of the original Resident Evil in 1996, each game has always been presented from a third-person perspective. That's why it was such a shock when it was announced that Resident Evil 7 Biohazard would be featured in first-person. And, to be frank, it's exactly the refresh the series needed at the time.

The first-person perspective made it feel scarier and much more personal. And with the shift away from traditional zombies introduced in the past, RE7 was a welcome change of pace that oddly enough felt more Resident Evil than many of the entries we got on the Xbox 360/PS4.

While this game is certainly a survival-horror game first, it has its action oriented shooter moments, as well. 

Metro Exodus

It's a shame Metro Exodus doesn't get talked about more because it's truly great. The best way to describe it is like a healthy mix of Fallout (with more polish) and Far Cry, with survival-horror elements.

It features an engaging story, an open world to explore, and all the crafting and weapon upgrading you could want. But the horror elements are what really draws us in — with a slew of tense moments that you can only overcome if you conserve ammo and supplies.

There are stealth mechanics, various branching story paths, and lots of upgrades to unlock, all tied together with a fantastic, but gloomy narrative. The entire Metro series, and Exodus in particular deserves more love.

DOOM Eternal

While many games on this list are complex, DOOM Eternal shines because of its simplicity, at least from a moment-to-moment gameplay perspective. Sure, it's got a slew of upgrade systems, but when it comes to the way it plays, understanding DOOM Eternal is simple enough.

And running around obliterating demons never felt so good and is made even better with all the new weapons and gadgets you have at your disposal. Particularly the grappling hook, which implements a layer of verticality not present in the 2016 predecessor. 

DOOM Eternal builds upon the foundation set by 2016's DOOM reboot and both are absolutely worth checking out, especially due to their metal soundtracks. 

Call of Duty: Warzone

Video games are built on iteration and Call of Duty: Warzone wears its inspirations on its sleeve. That isn't a knock as it builds upon other popular battle royale games and improves upon them,offering an intense and complex tactical FPS. 

It almost feels like Rainbow Six at times, wherein you must be deliberate with your decisions as you try and survive against over 100 other players. The unpredictable nature of the way each match plays out leads to some action-packed moments that feel like once in a lifetime situations.

And all of that is nicely held together with that beloved Call of Duty gameplay, which even after nearly 20 years remains unmatched in the shooter space. Warzone isn't the first battle royale game, but it's certainly one of the best. 

Overwatch

Hero shooters had certainly been around for a while when Overwatch debuted in 2016, but this game absolutely nailed the formula thanks to the fun balanced FPS gameplay and wonderful cast of characters.

Considering Overwatch is a live service game, it's important that its developer, Blizzard, has kept up with it and offered plenty of updates and in-game events to ensure it feels fresh. That's exactly what the team at Blizzard has done and their work should be commended.

But aside from the fun gameplay, this game wouldn't be as successful without its diverse, robust cast of characters. 32 in all, each one feels unique from a narrative perspective as well as in the way they play, giving you plenty of reasons to stick around and try all of them out.

Titanfall 2

It seems like the Titanfall series has been forgotten about, but that doesn't mean we can't jump back into the second entry in the series. Titanfall 2 is a game that extrapolated on the original in more ways than one, featuring a fully fleshed single-player campaign and a return to the beloved online multiplayer popularized by the first game.

One of the most memorable things about Titanfall 2 is its fast, frenetic gameplay — which often allows you to run along walls and chain together moves that make you feel superhuman at times. 

It's a game that suffered from launching too close to other shooters in 2016 and as a result, underperformed in EA's eyes. That does not mean you should skip out on it, because it's one of the most unique shooters in years.

Battlefield 1

There are a few different Battlefield games to check out on PS4 and all of them are — at the very least — good (including Battlefield Hardline). But out of all the entries on PS4, we like Battlefield 1 the best.

It takes place during WWI and has a new take on the single-player campaign. The story mode is comprised of shorter "vignettes" with different characters rather than one over arching story with a single hero.

That, combined with the fantastic online multiplayer mode makes for action packed moments that hit hard -- whether you're a support player or someone who likes to be on the offense more. Battlefield 1 is Dice at the top of its game and we can't wait to see what the team does next.

As the launch lineup for any console tends to be, the PlayStation 5 doesn't have a ton of games just yet. Full on PS5 games will be coming, but for now you can bolster your collection with a variety of fantastic PlayStation 4 titles.

The great thing is that most of your PS4 games work on PS5, thanks to backwards compatibility. That means you can pick right where you left off on your favorite PS4 shooters with little to no issues on PS5.

Thanks to the PS5's backwards compatibility feature, you can play any PlayStation 4 title on the platform with no hurdles at all. Anything you played on your PS4 can be brought to the PS5 with no issues at all, and the same can be said for anything you haven't played yet.

Star Wars Squadrons and a number of other EA games are getting next-gen enhancements for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the publisher recently announced.

These enhancements run the gamut from visual improvements to full-on content expansions. Here's what to expect from each game. 

Star Wars Squadrons Next-Gen Upgrades

Star Wars Squadrons on PS5 and XSX|S features improved lighting and will support up to 2160p at 60 FPS on the Xbox Series X and1440p at 60 FPS on the Xbox Series S. There's also a performance mode that prioritizes higher frame rates (120fps) over resolutions.

The PlayStation 5 version will feature improved lighting and runs at the same fps and resolution as Star Wars Squadrons on PlayStation 4 Pro.

Finally, there's a Variable Refresh Rate option added if the game is being played on a TV that supports that function.

Apex Legends Next-Gen Upgrades

Apex Legends' big Season 7 update already released, with new maps and a new Legend. On next-gen systems, the game gets an initial boost up to 1440p, with more changes planned for 2021, and Apex Legends crossplay will support all current- and next-gen platforms.

The Sims 4 Next-Gen Upgrades

The Sims 4 is getting its 10th expansion on November 13, Snowy Peak. The Sims 4 Snowy Peak introduces "a Japanese-inspired world" complete with onsen bathouses and meditation walks, along with plenty of wintery activities to keep restless Sims busy.

UFC 4, NHL  21, Madden NFL 21, FIFA 21, and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Next-Gen Upgrades

EA's sports games and the Need for Speed remake benefit from improved load times and frame rates. Otherwise, they'll run on:

• Xbox Series X like they're on Xbox One X
• Xbox Series S like they're on Xbox One S
• PlayStation 5 like they're on PlayStation 4 Pro

Torchlight 3 Halloween — Gears 'N' Goblins Update

The Torchlight 3 Halloween update brings the pets along for the ride. Players can rescue three new Halloween-themed pets from bosses and dungeons: the Midnight Cat, Spooky Retriever, and Dragonling Spirt. Each with a special skill that summons skeletons in battle, but the pets are only available until December.

Aside from battle-pups, the update introduces the Ancient Ember gear set and two new skills along with it, plus new fort decorations and two new weapons: Sword of the Lost and Lightning Baller mace.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker Halloween: Haunted Frontier

Hardspace: Shipbreaker's Halloween event is Haunted Frontier, full of spooky haunted ships that put your bravery — and desire for salvage — to the test.

The update, which is live now on Steam, turns any ship into a potential ghost ship. Things start deteriorating as you gather materials and fend off rogue AI nodes. Lights flicker on and off. Air gets sucked out of the room. And somewhere deep in the ship, unsettling sounds can be heard...

Should you make it out alive, you can show off your hard-earned rewards with new stickers and badges.

Hunt: Showdown Halloween Event

Hunt: Showdown has its first-ever Halloween event on now until November 4, with a gourd-full of ghoulish events and treats to earn.

Players earn Event Points for special equipment and other items by doing the following:

• Destroying pumpkins scattered through the world 
\n
• Destroying the Butcher's pumpkin head 
\n
• Investigating a Halloween-themed Clue or Rift 
\n
• Destroying pumpkins mounted on scarecrows 
\n

There's only so many Event Points you can earn each day, but using the special Halloween item Wormseed Shot increases the points earned by 25%.

1,000 Event Points are needed for all the event's special gear. Any points earned over that will be converted into Blood Bonds once the event ends.

Minecraft Halloween in the Minecraft Marketplace

Minecraft Halloween celebrations run through November 2, with frights aplenty in the Minecraft Marketplace. Mojang's got Halloween-themed maps and items in store there, plus Halloween Collections to choose from in the Character Creator and Marketplace.

Until November 2, you can grab a free Halloween skin pack and Halloween character creation item for free. These will still be available to get after November 2, but they won't be free then.

Fire Emblem Heroes' Halloween event runs through November 7 at 7:59 p.m. EST and offers a chance to summon four new Halloween-themed units:

No Man's Sky Halloween Update

Head back to the outer reaches of the galaxy to find some new loot in the No Man's Sky Halloween update. Brave explorers can scour Desolation's wrecked vessels again to find a new item, Tainted Metal, and have a chance to snag some Quicksilver. But it comes at a cost. The freighters are full of new treats and a security system gone haywire.

Trade Tainted Metal with the Scrap Dealer to get new base decorations and additional customization options, or you can stockpile it to exchange for the Horrific Flesh-Helmet.

Scrap Dealers also have Orange Pustules and Detoxified Slimes for infesting and purifying bases.

PixARK Halloween

PixARK Halloween brings a spooky makeover to the survival game from now until November 2, with costumes and treats galore.

Things kick off at the main menu, which is getting a Halloween re-skin. The main attraction is the Pumpkin Soul Reaper though.

When you defeat the Pumpkin Soul Reaper, it might drop:

Apex Legends Halloween: Fight or Fright 2020

Apex Legends' Halloween Fight or Fright event is back with Shadow Royale and more from now until November 3.

Shadow Royale sees night fall on Kings Canyon and its trio matches. When a Legend falls, they're reborn in Shadow form with a thirst for vengeance.

This year's event sees several all-new skins plus re-imagined versions of last year's, including Sweet Dreams Caustic and Wicked Harvest Bloodhound. Skins from last year are available on rotation in the in-game store as part of bundle offers or special offers.

There's a set of exclusive rewards in the event's Prize Track too with skins, charms, and more.

War of The Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius Halloween Special

War of the Visions is celebrating Halloween with two featured UR summons and a bucketful of rewards. Players can summon UR Little Leela and UR Rairyuu from now until November 10, both in Halloween attire with appropriate skills to match.

There's also a  5-step 10x Summon which guarantees a MR+ unit or vision card on steps 1-4 and UR “Exorcists” on step 5.

GTA Online Halloween Bunker Series

GTA Online has a bunker full of frightful delights this Halloween. Halloween Bunker Series features triple RP and GTA$ plus three Slasher maps: the depths of the bunker, the silo, and The Diamond.

Taking part in the Halloween Adversary modes such as Beast Vs. Slasher and Come Out To Play doubles your RP and GTA$.

The peyote plants are back, in keeping with the spooky season, though Rockstar isn't saying what they'll transform you into yet. Nightclub income rates are going up as part of the event, and there'll be an influx of Freemode Events with triple payouts through October 28.

Mortal Shell Halloween: Rotten Autumn

Mortal Shell's first content update just so happens to be a Halloween update called Rotten Autumn.

After downloading the update, speak with Gorf to unlock a new mini-quest. Completing it earns you new shades to deck out your Shell with. And you can show the world just how you spruced up your Shell with Mortal Shell's brand-new photo mode.

There's also a separate download alongside Rotten Autumn that adds a new soundtrack for boss fights, courtesy of Rotting Christ.

Those who haven't jumped into Mortal Shell yet can do so with a limited-time 20% discount for the digital version on PS4 and PC. That same discount isn't live for Xbox players yet, but it will be come October 27. 

Mortal Shell's physical version releases November 3 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the U.S., then on October 23 for PlayStation 4 and PC (case containing a key) in Europe and October 30 for Xbox One in Europe.

Fortnite Halloween — Fortnitemares 2020

King Midas is back from the great beyond in Fortnite's Fortnitemares 2020 event from now until November 3, and he's giving you the chance to wreak havoc on friend and foe alike.

When you're eliminated in a Solo, Duos or Squads match, you get the chance to return as a Shadow in Nitemare Royal. Attack surviving players from the shadows and even possess vehicles to bring their game to an end.

That's the trick side of things, but the island has plenty of treats in store too. You can get your hands on the Pumpkin Rocket Launcher, Fiend Hunter Crossbow, a special Midas invention, and of course, candy.

There's a suite of Fortnitemares challenges where you can unlock costumes and weapon skins such as the Smash-O'-Lantern Pickaxe and Midas' Shadow Wrap.

Finally, on Halloween night (October 31) at 9 p.m. EST, award-winning reggae singer J Balvin kicks off the Afterlife Party at the Party Royale Main Stage.

PUBG Mobile Infection Mode

PUBG Mobile's Infection Mode is back from the dead from now until November 9, with new content, themes, costumes, and plenty of zombies.

Infection Mode's classic combat returns, pitting a team of Defenders against a team of Zombies in an all-or-nothing fight. Zombies — sporting Halloween masks, if you so choose —  can only use melee attacks, but fallen Defenders transform into Zombies with chances for form shifts and stat buffs.

If it all gets too much for the Defenders, they transform into Vanquishers when their team is down to three members. Foes they vanquish can't be resurrected.

These hellish fights unfold across maps decked out with pumpkins, gravestones, and other seasonal paraphernalia. More costumes and decorations are planned before the end of the event.

World of Tanks Halloween — Burning Games

Free-to-play war game World of Tanks is hosting the Burning Games Halloween event until October in partnership with Korn and their new video for "Finally Free." It's a chance for Tier V and higher vehicles to complete challenges and earn special items and take part in the new Wasteland map.

In World of Tanks Wasteland, tanks start with 1 HP and have to attack others to replenish it. Players can attack allies to restore teammates' health, and respawning increases the tank's overall power.

From October 16 through October 31, players can join The Way of the Raider 60-stage event to earn XP, camo, and the two new tanks featured in Korn's music video.

Finally, from October 24 through October 31, World of Tanks brings back Mad Games, a limited-time chance to outfit your tanks with the wildest abilities possible.

Red Dead Online: The Halloween Pass

It's spooky time at the Red Dead Online corral, with the game's first-ever Halloween Pass. Now through November 16, players can get their hands on wagon-loads of Red Dead Online Halloween rewards, ranging from weapons and costumes to decorations for the tavern. Everything acquired during the event lasts after it ends.

The Halloween Pass is available in the progress menu or the Wheeler, Rawson & Co selection.

Pokemon GO Halloween 2020

Pokemon GO Halloween 2020 runs from October 23 at 9 p.m. EST through November 3 at the same time and offers the first chance to get your hands on Galarian Yamask among other things.

Completing the Halloween Special Research "A Spooky Message Unmasked" gets you one step closer to finding both Galarian Yamask and Spiritomb. Other Field Research tasks will also center around Halloween themes during the event.

Ghost-type Pokemon will be more common in the wild, in Raids, and in Eggs. You might even find a costumed Gengar in Raids or hatch a Sableye in costume if you're lucky.

Talking of Raids, Darkrai takes center stage for five-star Raids, but there's more Halloween Raid goodness in store.

On October 31 from 11 a.m. local time through 5 p.m. local time, there's a higher chance Alolan Marowak will show up in Raids.

There's a special Halloween Cup from October 26 at 4 p.m. EST through the end of the event where only Poison, Dark, Bug, Ghost, and Fairy Pokemon can compete, and they have to have less than 1,500 CP.

It just wouldn't be Halloween without costumes. Pokemon GO Halloween 2020 amps up the costume game with a Gengar onesie, Sableye goggles, Pikachu mask, and more, along with bundles in the in-game shop.

Finally, there's an all-new event on October 26, the Catch Mastery event, which we cover in more detail elsewhere.

Harry Potter Wizards Unite: Darkness Rising 2020

Harry Potter Wizards Unite is back for 2020 and, like its Pokemon counterpart, you can play it safely from home.

This year, Darkness Rising revolves around weekly events where completing tasks — brewing potions, collecting notes, and the like — earns you rewards such as extra XP, Portkeys, and books.

The ultimate goal is finding the Dark Witch, masquerading as a Brilliant Oddity. Other oddities abound, too, including Brilliant Witch, Brilliant Dark Wizard, and Brilliant Giant Stone Hand.

Dreams Halloween

If you're looking for a more atmospheric experience, Dreams' Halloween event, All Hallows' Dreams, may be for you. The whole thing is user-generated, like the rest of Dreams, and All Hallows' Dreams pops up at the top of the world list when you boot the game up.

Choosing it takes you to a dream world with different scary mansions to explore.

Some are reportedly very scary indeed, though they have their biggest frights confined to the upper floors. Others are just fun, creepy haunted houses to explore, complete with pumpkins carved by other Dreams players and a costume zone.

Call of Duty Halloween 2020 — Haunting of Verdansk

Call of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare share a Halloween event in 2020: Haunting of Verdansk. The event runs from October 20 through November 3. It's a multi-pronged event featuring crossovers with SAW and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but some of it does come at a cost.

If you want the film crossover treats, you'll have to shell out for the SAW and Chainsaw Massacre bundles, both of which include skins, items, and weapons inspired by their respective franchises.

Activision promised more Halloween-themed bundles for the in-game store, including the new Dr. Karlov bundle focused on regional Verdansk folklore and a Grim Reaper bundle.

In addition to Trick or Treat crates with Halloween items galore, Haunting of Verdansk adds night modes to event maps, zombie battle royale, scavenger hunts, and much, much more.

Minecraft Dungeons Spooky Fall Halloween Event

Spooky Fall is coming to Minecraft Dungeons from October 26 until November 3 with challenges and rewards galore.

Seasonal Trials are summoning up ghoulish mobs for players to take on. If that weren't spoopy enough, the event turns down the lights with Night Mode — but only until the event ends.

Completing the Season Trials earns exclusive seasonal weapons and gear, whether Night Mode is enabled or not.

Elder Scrolls Online Halloween — Witches Festival 2021

Elder Scrolls Online's annual Halloween Witches Festival is back once more with double XP and plenty of treats to go around. ESO's 2020 Witches Festival runs from October 22 at 10 a.m. EST through November 3 at the same time.

If this is your first time taking part, you'll need to complete "The Witchmother's Bargain" quest from the Crown Store and earn the Witchmother's Whistle item. If you already have it, just select it from your collections to get started.

Using the Whistle kicks off a two-hour period of bonus XP, but there's a lot more.

Players can earn new mementos, furnishings, and Dremora and Hollowjack-themed items through Plunder Skulls earned in battle.

Bosses drop Dremora Plunder Skulls with extra goods, including treasure maps and pages for the Grave Digger weapon style.

Overwatch Junkenstein 2020

Overwatch's Halloween Terror 2020 event, aka Junkenstein 2020, is live now through November 3, bringing the Junkenstein's Revenge Brawl back alongside new skins and more.

Baptiste and Ashe are added to the brawl mix as playable characters this year, and there are weekly challenges to take on to earn new skins.

Overcooked! 2's Halloween celebration isn't technically Halloween-themed. It's in honor of harvest and autumn celebrations throughout eastern Asia, but it's fall-ish, so it works.

Better yet, it's a free update with no end time, and the content will appear in Overcooked! All You Can Eat for next-gen consoles.

Overcooked! 2's Moon Harvest Festival introduces new kitchens themed around water and lily pad obstacles. There are five new levels total, plus three succulent-looking mooncakes to add to the menu.

Doom Eternal Halloween 2020

Doom Eternal's Halloween 2020 event is pretty straightforward. Until October 29, log in every day, complete campaign missions to earn XP, play Battlemode, and complete weekly challenges to unlock skins. Challenges refresh every Thursday.

Dragalia Lost — Postmortem Panic

Dragalia Lost's Halloween event for 2020 is Postmortem Panic, a series of increasingly difficult challenges with a slew of rewards. It's live from October 12 at 2 a.m. through October 19 at the same time, but the event rewards can be claimed until October 26 at 1:59 a.m.

Postmortem Panic divides its missions by difficulty. Completing all the challenges at one tier earns battle charts and stratagems for unlocking the next level of quest.

Some of these are special dragon battle challenges, pitting adventurers against the toughest of foes like Astral High Mercury.

Victory earns wind and water tomes to unlock new skills for certain characters, while completing quests earns primal crystals used for treasure trading.

Splatoon 2 Halloween Splatfest — Splatoween

Splatoon 2 is hosting a Halloween Splatfest called Splatoween, where the Tricks face off against the Treats. The special Splatfest kicks off on October 30 at 6 p.m. EST/3 p.m. PST and runs through November 1 at 5 p.m. EST/2 p.m. PST.

During the event, players can get their tentacles on some Halloween Splatoon 2 gear, including:

Star Citizen: Alpha 3.11 High Impact and Halloween

Star Citizen's Alpha 3.11 update includes a bounty of additions, and among them is Star Citizen's first-ever Halloween event. It kicked off earlier this month and runs through Halloween on October 31.

During the event, players can earn Halloween helmets and a special Day of the Vara Cutlass skin. There's a cosplay competition and even a pumpkin carving contest with plenty of "sweet prizes" in store for those who take part.

Borderlands 3 Halloween — Bloody Harvest Returns

Borderlands 3's Bloody Harvest Halloween event is back for October 2020. The ghoulish festivities run through November 5, and it's easier than ever to get your hands on some sweet, ghastly gear.

To kick things off, head to Sanctuary III, and speak with Maurice. Maurice tasks you with collecting Hecktoplasm from haunted enemies, easily spotted by their ghostly green glow.

Defeating haunted enemies spawns specters you'll need to defeat as well, and that's when you finally get ahold of Hecktoplasm.

After collecting enough of Hecktoplasm, Maurice opens the gate to Heck, where you can chat with Captain Haunt to access a number of quests, through which you'll earn Bloody Harvest items and cosmetics.

This year, the Bloody Harvest quests are less demanding than before, making it easier to get loot.

Destiny 2: Festival of the Lost 2020

Destiny 2 brings back the Festival of the Lost and the Haunted Forest for 2020, with new weapons, triumphs, armor sets, and cosmetics for Exotics to celebrate the spookiest season of the year. Festival of the Lost 2020 is free for all Destiny 2 players and runs from October 6 through November 3. 

Festival of the Lost 2020 adds new perk rolls for the Braytech Werewolf and Horror Story, plus new sets for a few classes:

On the official Festival of the Lost blog post, Bungie provided more information on the Halloween event. The Spider is a new NPC that gives players Cipher Decoders that unlock special chests at the end of The Haunted Forest. The chests are worth pursuing because they contain Legendary items specific to the Festival of the Lost. 

Rounding things out, there are new Sparrow skins available, as well as festival masks and vanity items for various armor sets, including broomsticks and witch hats. 

Resident Evil Resistance October Update

Resident Evil Resistance has a big October update in store, which is basically a Halloween update without actually being called a Halloween update.

Jill Valentine joins the ranks of the Survivors, with powerful weapons and her characteristic dodge mechanic from Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake. And as is only fitting, Nemesis itself is a playable Mastermind for the first time. Players control Nemesis through playing as Nicholai, another new Mastermind.

The Prison is a new map added in RE Resistance's October update, and the Uptown Raccoon City and Bemusement Park maps get a remix with new layouts.

Finally is a slew of new costumes and weapon skins, Survivors' perks and customizable abilities, and Mastermind traps.

Grounded October Update

Grounded’s October update adds ziplines and more to the survival game, including some Halloween-themed items. The initial announcement is relatively light on details, but players can expect decorations, recreational items, and doodads to use with friends. These include harvestable Candy Corn and a new landmark in the Frankenline, which is described as "a creepy discarded Etch-a-Sketch you can actually draw on."

Aside from washing The Backyard in a spooky glow, the October update for Grounded does a lot on the backend as well, including fixing a handful of bugs, fine-tuning combat, and unlocking new perks. You can see the full patch notes here. 

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath — All Hallows' Eve

Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath is getting some Halloween goodness with the All Hallows’ Eve character skin pack. It’s available now and is free for Aftermath owners. Those who haven’t upgraded to Aftermath yet would need to purchase the expansion, which also unlocks the Summer Heat and Femme Fatale packs from earlier in 2020. 

Mortal Kombat 11’s All Hallows’ Eve skin pack trailer highlighted three of the included skins. One is the “Blizzard King” outfit for Sub-Zero, and then there’s the part-werewolf part-school spirit “Beast Within” skin for Johnny Cage. Then there’ “Bad Medicine” for D’Vorah, turning the Kytinn fighter into a spidery nurse from hell. 

It’s not certain if Warner Bros. is adding anything else to Mortal Kombat 11’s Halloween event, but we’ll update if something new turns up.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Halloween

The Halloween fun isn’t limited to New Horizons, as Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp celebrates spooky season in its own way. The 2020 Pocket Camp Halloween event features a number of special activities with ghoulish treats on offer for those who complete certain goals.

Jack comes around and demands sweet treats. Hand over bat-themed lollipops to get bat furniture as a reward, and plant pumpkins during the month’s Garden Event to nab hatbats. Jack offers exclusive items such as mystical pumpkins in return.

Taking part in the October Fishing Tourney nets some goodies as well, with potion-themed furniture on offer every time players reach a size goal with the fish they catch.

Then there’s a fright night gyroidite scavenger hunt, new Happy Home classes and challenges, wall and carpet sets, special cookie items and more. The Pocket Camp Halloween and October events are live now.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Halloween

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Halloween update is available to download for free now, and it’s bringing more than just the Czar of Halloween to the island. 

Animal Crossing patch 1.5 paves the way for Halloween by adding Candy as an item players can purchase from the Nooklings’ store and pumpkins as growable DIY fodder.

The patch 1.5 trailer shows players planting, watering, and harvesting at least four different pumpkin varieties and then using them in various Halloween-themed DIY recipes.

On Halloween night (October 31), Jack himself visits the island. It’s not clear yet what he requires of the player, but all the residents will be lurking about, asking for Candy and showing off their costumes.

The patch adds new skin tone options for players to look their creepy best as well. We’ll update with more information about what New Horizons Halloween brings to the table as it becomes available.

Monster Hunter: World Iceborne — Fun Fright Fest

Capcom’s brewing up a special Monster Hunter: World Iceborne Halloween event called the Fun Fright Fest, part of the hefty Title Update 5. It runs from October 15 at 8 p.m. EST through November 5 at the same time and is exclusive to the expansion.

The Autumn Harvest Fest is returning to the base Monster Hunter: World game, but Capcom hasn’t said much about it yet.

Fun Fright Fest (starting at 7:06 in the above trailer) sees the Seliana Gathering Hub decked out with spooky furnishings, and the handler dons a Cute Demoness outfit to celebrate the occasion. There are two special ticket types to collect during the event and trade in for loot: the Fun Fright Ticket and the VIP Fun Fright Ticket. 

The former get doled out as daily login bonuses for the MHW Halloween event and can be used to craft armor with Decoration slots. Players can exchange the latter for in-game decorations and Layered Armor, but these are only available as random item drops. Both ticket types can be exchanged for Melding Tickets too.

There’s at least one new set of armor coming to the Fun Fright Fest, Demon Lord Alpha+. Wearing pieces of this armor set increases the chance of getting VIP Fun Fright Tickets.

Capcom may reveal more about Monster Hunter: World Iceborne’s Fun Fright Fest as the start date approaches, and we’ll update if that happens.

Killing Floor 2: Infernal Insurrection

It wouldn’t be Halloween without Killing Floor 2’s annual Halloween celebrations, and 2020 is no different. This year’s Halloween event is Killing Floor 2: Infernal Insurrection, and it brings treats galore, including new weapons, maps, and cosmetics.

Infernal Insurrection’s new map is Hallmark Station, a twisted take on London’s famous King’s Cross Station. Hallmark Station has been overrun by zeds, of course, and players must team up with fellow mercenaries to take down the demonic threat. Hellmark Station includes Survival, Endless, and Weekly modes.

Two new HRG weapons make their debut in Killing Floor 2’s Halloween event.

• HRG Scorcher (Firebug class bonus) — a flare gun that marks targets by setting them on fire

• HRG Arc Generator (Survivalist class bonus) — fires EMP blasts in short bursts or powerful charges

From now until November 10, Killing Floor 2 is also introducing a number of Halloween events, objectives, bonuses, and cosmetics.

October 2020 is upon us, which means it's time for scary movies, The Simpsons Tree House of Horror, and Halloween events in all our favorite video games! While we're still on announcements from Overwatch and Apex Legends, games like Killing Floor 2, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and MHW already have their in-game-event plans laid out for the spooky season.

From new weapons and outfits to new DIY recipes and Palico Halloween costumes, there are plenty of tricks, and even more treats, in store for the witching month. 

Games that haven't announced Halloween plans yet likely will in the coming weeks, and we'll update this list of Halloween events when that happens. Be sure to bookmark this and check back throughout October!

The latest EA investor relations call was held recently. Among other things, the publisher announced it plans on offering a system similar to Xbox Smart Delivery, where current-gen games are upgraded for free to their next-gen PS5 and Series X counterparts.

These remarks come from EA Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen, buried roughly near the end of the earnings report. Jorgensen said:

...this year the phasing [budget forecast] includes the effect of revenue recognition from the games we are launching for the current generation of consoles that can also be upgraded for free for the next generation.

How EA will implement this alleged upgrade remains to be seen, especially since Sony specifically hasn't been 100% clear on how PlayStation 5's backwards compatibility will work.

As EA Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilson said, EA plans on releasing 14 new titles over the course of this fiscal year. These include games in the NHL, Madden, and FIFA franchises. No surprises there. But there's another, unannounced sports title EA plans to release as well.

EA also plans on having its sports arm lead the company into next-gen, which basically means look forward to next-gen sports games from EA within the first year of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X launching.

On top of that, Wilson said EA's indie partners have a number of games in store. There are four other games in the works for console and PC from EA, too, including Command and Conquer. Wilson also mentioned two mobile titles.

Ark: Survival Evolved

Running from October 22 to November 5 on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, Ark's Halloween event is scarier than a velociraptor opening a door. Fear Evolved 3 brings a ton of ghoulish surprises to the survival game, including pumpkins, skeletal dinos, and more. 

There are "new items to collect, cool skin costumes to try out, and a Blood Moon casting a pale shadow over it all." Players will be treated with increased XP, harvesting, and breeding rates. Here's a list of everything you can expect:

Two Point Hospital

Not to be outdone by Tropico 6, Two Point Hospital also has a Halloween event going on right now. Of course, the hospital sim was already kinda' spooky with ghosts floating about, but things are even more terrifying with the "boo-tiful update."

From now until November 1, players can decorate hospitals with Halloween bits and bobs, listening to scary music over the hospital PA, and duck boisterous bats in the hallways. 

Certain illnesses will even get Halloween-themed updates, such as Lightheadedness getting renamed Firghtheadedness, with patients sprouting pumpkins for heads instead of lightbulbs. 

those who don't already own the game can grab it for 66% off on Steam until November 1. 

Tropico 6

Even city-builder Tropico 6 is getting in on the Halloween festivities. From now until November 7, players will see new content updates bringing Autumn foliage, pumpkins, Halloween palace decorations, and a themed main menu to the game. 

The update is live across all platforms, including PS4, Xbox One, and PC. El Presidente is in the spirit. 

Elder Scrolls Blades

The Elder Scrolls Blades is celebrating the spooky season with the Witches Festival. New quests have been added to the game alongside a spell overhaul, new Nightmare Town, and brand-new decorations. 

The 1.4 update includes myriad fixes to combat, weapons, armor, items, and more. It even squashes a few pesky bugs. But(!), it doesn't squash spiders, which feature heavily in because Halloween. 

Creatures lurk in dark caves and mysteriously abandoned villages dot the land. Are you brave enough to venture out into the land of the living dead? 

Mortal Kombat 11

Fighting game fans can celebrate Halloween with one of the most macabre fighting games around: Mortal Kombat. 

The free Halloween-themed event starts on October 25 and runs through November 1. There will be four new boss fights, all with spoopy modifiers such as witches and bats and pumpkins. There are even new terrifying Brutalities to be had. 

The Masquerade Skin pack will retail for $5.99 and include skins for Jade, Kabal, and Liu Kang. 

Hitman 2 Halloween Escalation Contract

Hitman 2 is even getting in on the Halloween shenanigans with a special, Halloween-themed Escalation Contract. This new contract is included as part of October's free content update for those who downloaded the Hitman 2 Starter Pack, and it takes place in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand.

Along with the obligatory skeletons, pumpkins, and other spooky accouterments, the Contract includes special rewards for those who manage to survive the horror-filled wasteland that awaits them: the Tactical Wetsuit and Bat Shuriken.

Gears 5: Pumpkin Ball and More

Gears 5 is bringing Pumpkin Ball back for Halloween this year, which is basically a pumpkin version of dodgeball, and it's also giving you the chance to earn a special Frankenstein skin by winning 13 matches of Pumpkin Ball before the event ends on November 4.

This isn't your typical game of dodge, er, Pumpkin Ball, though. Players automatically revive unless you target specific, zombie-like weak points, including the head or the universal weakness to massive explosions.

The event started on October 22, with more planned sometime this week as well, so stay tuned for more info as it becomes available.

Elder Scrolls Online: The Witches Festival

The Witches Festival returns once more in Elder Scrolls Online, bringing with it a gaggle of ghoulish goodies for your Halloween pleasure. The event starts October 24 at 10am EST and ends November 4 at the same time.

One way to get the party started is earning tons more XP, and to do that, you'll need to complete "The Witchmother's Bargain" quest from the Crown store then use the Whistle you get as a reward.

The Witches Festival has plenty more on offer as well, including Festival-themed collectibles and costumes, Dremora Plunder Skulls (complete with new items) earned through defeating special bosses once per day, and the Glenmoril Armor set.

Mario Kart Tour Halloween Event

Mario Kart Tour is joining in the spooky fun this season, with some sort of Halloween event centered around a Luigi's Mansion course. The official tweet announcing the event only said we can get tricks and treats out of it.

Sort of unrelated to the event, but not really because it is Luigi's Mansion after all, is the announcement that Luigi is coming to Mario Kart Tour as of now. (Apparently, he lost his keys and couldn't get there when the game first launched).

Much to Luigi's undoubted dismay, the Halloween event is adding King Boo as a playable character too.

Don't Starve: Hallowed Nights 2019

Klei Entertainment's lovable death simulator Don't Starve Together's Halloween 2019 event is the return of Hallowed Nights, starting October 24. The Klei blog post announcing the event's return said it'll largely include the same things as last year, with a few new treats and tricks.

That means Candy items, Halloween Decorations, and Trinkets you can give to the Pig King for Candy. Candy is good in Don't Starve, because unlike other food items, it never spoils.

Last year's Hallowed Nights also introduced the Mad Science Lab, where you could engineer a number of potions with a variety of positive effects — but at the expense of your sanity.

Though not technically part of Hallowed Nights, October 24 is when we'll see Wurt the Merm make her debut in Don't Starve as well.

Dragalia Lost: Halloween Fantasia 2

Dragalia Lost's popular Halloween Fantasia event returns as the game's big Spooktober event, bringing with it new items, quests, and summons. It all kicks off at 2am October 18.

First is the Trick or Treasure! Facility Event, which introduces Nightmare difficulty, new items to obtain, and more. It's accompanied by a new set of Daily and Live Endeavors that'll run through October 31 as well.

Thanks to Perfectly-Nintendo distilling the patch notes, we also know the special Halloween Fantasia summoning event will include the following:

Sea of Thieves: Fort of the Damned

Things are taking a decidedly spooky turn for Xbox One and Windows 10 players this month in Sea of Thieves. The game's monthly content update this time around is, naturally, Halloween related, and it's no barebones update either.

Old Boot Fort has been overrun by the forces of evil, turning it into the Fort of the Damned, managed by the Shadow of Fate Skeletons.

This fort can be activated as long as the requirements are met, and it brings with it new Voyages, new Contracts from Duke, and some big rewards. More importantly, these additions aren't just for October; they'll continue on as a permanent part of the game.

There'll also be new arena rules, new items and pets from the Emporium, and even a new way to play Shanties. The full details are here.

Fallout '76 Mischief Night

Fallout '76's Halloween event this year is Mischief Night, letting you take full advantage of the day to wreak utter havoc on Whitespring. Mischief Night kicks off at noon EST on October 26 and runs until the same time on November 5, and it begins "every hour, on the hour." It's a public event, which means free fast travel too.

You'll start off at the Mischief Pyre near the Springhouse Gazebo, and after hearing about the rogue Eyebot JES-2R's dark plans, you're in for a quick tour of the resort area.

From there, you can destroy property and vehicles, vandalize buildings, risk getting tricked at one of the treat bowls, and basically do whatever your little black heart desires — as long as the Whitespring Elite Security Force doesn't catch you.

Complete JES-2R's missions to earn rewards, and wearing or crafting your own costume helps further your progress towards unlockables.

For Honor's Otherworld 2019 Event

For the past two years, Ubisoft's For Honor has hosted an event centering around the Otherworld concept, with plenty of spooky challenges, quests, special rewards, Halloween versions of familiar characters, and of course, loads of lootable gear.

The event usually runs well beyond Halloween too. As yet, like with many others, there aren't any concrete details about For Honor's Halloween event, but we'll update as soon as we find out more.

Hearthstone Hallow's End: Doom in the Tomb

Blizzard finally lifted the lid on Hearthstone's Hallow's End 2019 event. This year's special Halloween event is Doom in the Tomb; it starts October 8 at 10 a.m. PDT/1 p.m. EDT and runs for three weeks until October 30 at 9 a.m. PDT/12 p.m. EDT.

As always, there'll be unique Tavern Brawls with rewards for completing missions under a certain time, plus trials in the Haunted Temple for both good and E.V.I.L. to overcome. Naturally, the Headless Horseman will be making his appearance as well.

Some of the Tomb's treasures might seem familiar to longtime players as well, with classic cards like the Druid, Imp Gang Boss, and Imp Burglard making a return.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Dark Arts Month

While Harry Potter: Wizards Unite might not generate quite the same levels of interest as Niantic's other AR mobile game, it's still got plenty to offer for Dark Arts month.

Killing Floor 2: Grim Treatments

Tripwire Studios' Killing Floor 2 Halloween event is already underway, with the launch of Grim Treatments earlier this month.

Grim Treatment is a free update that brings in a variety of Halloween Zeds, up to their ears (or whatevers) in blood and gore, a brand-new map in the form of Ashwood Asylum, special cosmetic items, and Nuked Objective Mode.

Nuked has special quests and cutscenes, but the main objective centers around the attempt to rescue a small child in the aftermath of nuclear fallout, and of course, there are plenty of Zeds trying to stop you.

League of Legends The Harrowing 2019

The Harrowing is basically an institution in League of Legends. It's a yearly fright-fest that ties in with the game's lore, focusing on the Black Mist and, well, death. Because it's Halloween.

The big draw in The Harrowing tends to be the special Champion skins on offer, plus various ranks of gear, and plenty of other additions to get you in the Halloween spirit.

So far, there's absolutely nothing about this year's Harrowing, but since we're well into October now, that'll likely change soon.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Halloween Event

There will, in fact, be a Star Wars Battlefront 2 Halloween event this year. Shared on EA Star Wars' official Twitter account, the event will begin on October 23 and end on October 31. 

The event might not feature ghouls and ghosts, but it will allow players to earn 2X experience for the entire period. That includes all game modes. 

The event will center around the Ewok hunt on Endor, which, unsurprisingly, will be at night. 

It's worth mentioning that Battlefront 2 will have events the entire month of October, even though there is only one Halloween-themed event.

Dead by Daylight Withering Blight Event

This year's Dead by Daylight Hallowed Blight event, called Withering Blight, was leaked during the Stranger Things event over the summer. That said, only the existence of the Halloween event was leaked. Since then, we've learned a little bit more. 

The event will run from October 22 to November 1. Not only will it bring "spooky decorations" to the world of Dead by Daylight, but items from Halloweens past, including:

• The Will O' Wisp flashlight

• The All Hallows' Eve lunchbox
\n
• The Pustula Petals offering
\n

Per the game's official blog:

You can find these limited-time items scattered throughout newly generated Bloodwebs and in chests for the duration of the event. You will keep any leftover items and be able to use them year round, but be warned: Any unused Pustula Petals will stay in your inventory, but will not be useable after the event period. 

\n

Following feedback from the Hallowed Blight event last year, Pustula Petals will instead create a pair of event Hooks and Generators for each Offering used. Survivors who burn one of these Offerings will receive bonus Bloodpoints whenever an event Generator is powered, and Killers receive a bonus each time a Survivor is hooked on a special event Hook. If you don’t burn an Offering, you’ll still receive some bonus Bloodpoints, but not as many as those who do.

The event will also bring new challenges and rewards to Dead by Daylight. Putrid Serum will be a new currency for the event, which can be used to acquire cosmetics. Though there are a finite number of these items in the event, finding them all will net you "six hallowed cosmetics."

Last year's event featured an adrenaline-filled rush to gather antitoxins to fend off an army of mutated creatures bent on destroying everything in sight, plus the slightly less tense inclusion of new items and gear.

Rainbow Six Siege Halloween Event

Last year, Ubisoft treated us to the Mad House Halloween event in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, and while the company's been silent so far about this year's Halloween event, a set of rather frightening looking skins was recently leaked.

obutu3_ posted a video on YouTube showing off new skins for Doc, Ela, and Vigil, among others, all of which are pretty obviously meant for Halloween.

If it's anything like last year, expect to see plenty of Halloween decorations around the Rainbow Six Siege world and, hopefully, see the previous year's skins available again as well.

Call of Duty Halloween 2019

Just like we can count on a new Call of Duty game every year, we can count on a Call of Duty Halloween event, too. Only — Activision hasn't announced one yet.

Last year's was all about Black Ops, and the year before focused on Infinite Warfare. This year saw Call of Duty Mobile finally launch, so it's possible any new event could center around that since Modern Warfare won't release until October 25. Of course, we could also see something in Black Ops 4 ... 

Either way, these usually involve the same thing: new skins, stickers, and gear, all won through reaching specific tier levels and completing certain missions.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Halloween Event

Harry Potter and Halloween are perfect matches for each other, not least because something interesting — or deadly — always happens on Halloween.

Hogwarts Mystery will be no different this year. The game's official Twitter account teased the game's Dark Arts Month earlier this month on Twitter.

PUBG Mobile and The Walking Dead

PUBG Mobile is getting its own Halloween crossover event with The Walking Dead in the form of daily boardgame missions.

Players can log in every day to complete special The Walking Dead-themed missions to unlock a special version of Daryl Dixon's motorcycle, plus enter for a chance to win a new iPhone 11.

More details about the events and giveaways are going to be shared on Twitter through the month.

PUBG Halloween 2019

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is getting a special set of Halloween skins this year. They're pretty much what you'd expect from Halloween costumes, too, ranging from The Wizard of Oz-themed Kansas and Scarecrow sets to pirate gear, and more, though the, er, happy Lion costume has received some changes since it first launched.

These costumes will all be sold individually and can be bought as sets for a discount.

Crash Team Racing Halloween Grand Prix

Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled has made a name for itself by offering regular Grand Prix events, and it's a theme Beenox is continuing with a special Halloween-themed event: the Nitro-Fueld Spooky Grand Prix.

Top on the list is the return of Nina Cortex as a new playable character, complete with new karts and a brand-new track. There'll be missions and challenges to complete, tiered rewards to earn, skins, items, and lots more.

The Spooky Grand Prix kicked off on October 4 and runs through November 3, and you can find out all the specifics here.

MapleStory Hallowkitty Event

MapleStory's usual Hallowkitty event is back in full force this year as part of the Fabled Melody content update, but it won't start until October 23 at 7 p.m. EST.

It's a big event, too. There's a disco-themed set of Halloween items to purchase:

Destiny 2: Festival of the Lost 2019

Festival of the Lost is back once more as Destiny 2's Halloween event in 2019. What's more, New Light players — those playing the new free-to-play Destiny 2 version —can take part in Festival of the Lost, so long as their power level is at least 770.

As always, Eva Levante is your host, and she brings with her all manner of Halloween decorations and costumes. And candy. Lots of candy, which you'll earn and can use towards rewards like the Braytech Werewolf Legendary Auto Rifle.

Weapons will serve you well in the Forest trials, 15 minutes of terror fighting against monsters galore, but there's plenty of Halloween customization for those who just want to make some haunting memories for the future too.

Borderlands 3: Bloody Harvest

Borderlands 3's Halloween event is part of a brand-new content update, and, as always, it's called Bloody Harvest. Bloody Harvest starts October 24 and lets you take on haunted enemies, challenge a new boss, earn rewards by completing challenges, and, of course, don new skins for your Vault Hunters. What kind of Halloween would it be without dressing up, after all?

Now that it's actually begun, Blizzard released details about this year's Overwatch Halloween event. Dr Junkenstein makes his return, changing all the heroes into spooky Halloween versions of their usual selves and bringing along new weekly challenges as well as the usual Junkenstein's Revenge seasonal brawl.

All Saints' Wake returns for Final Fantasy XIV's Halloween 2019 event, and yes, the spoopy Moogle carriage is included.

If you're looking for some Final Fantasy Halloween fun, head to Gridania Woods from October 17 to November 1 to check out the Continental Circus and its special Ahriman attraction, which is something you'll have to see to believe, or so they say.

Rocket League Haunted Hallows

Psyonix has revealed new information regarding Rocket League's Halloween 2019 event. This year, things get a little peculiar with the game's Stranger Things crossover during the Haunted Hallows event. 

The Farmstead map gets transformed into the Upside-Down, reminiscent of the opening portions from Stranger Things Season 2. The map is now steeped in red with the Mind Flayer lurking in the background. 

The event runs from October 14 to November 11. During that time, players can earn unique toppers, banners, titles, decals, avatar borders and more. These fiendish flourishes will be available for a certain number of Candy Corn, which players can earn by playing matches. 

There are even golden pumpkins that hold special surprises. 

Pokemon GO Halloween 2019

Pokemon GO's 2019 Halloween event kicks off soon, on October 17 at 4pm EST/1pm PST and runs through November 1 at the same time.

The first big feature of the event is adding Darkrai to five-star raid events, which you can find out more about here.

Apex Legends Fight or Fright

Respawn Entertainment will be adding a bevy of Halloween goodies and tweaks to Apex Legends with the first ever Fight or Fright event, starting October 15 and running through until November 5.

Fight or Fright introduces new cosmetic items for weapons and Legends, some of which can be obtained through completing special, limited-time challenge missions.

King's Canyon is getting a spooky, night-themed makeover, but it's the new mode Shadowfall that brings the biggest change.

Legends who fall in battle will be reborn as zombies and receive new abilities, like a vicious melee attack and, in true Titanfall fashion, the ability to run up walls.

Once the field only has 10 living Legends left, the game changes to an escape mode. It's a race for the 10 Legends to make it to the evacuation ship while the undead zombie Legends do all they can to stop the evacuation from happening.

Fortnite Halloween 2019

Epic Games hasn't yet announced any Halloween events for Fortnite, but fans are expecting something soon. Expectations were heightened when Twitter user HYPEX posted information gleaned from datamining, reportedly showing at least part of the Halloween skins that might be added to Fortnite sometime this month.

Bloodborne: The Official Return to Yharnam

Bloodborne's Halloween event is fully organized by the Bloodborne fan community. It's an unofficial official event (just go with it), and rules are determined on the Bloodborne sub-reddit based on which suggestions get the most upvotes.

Currently, the rules include choosing and creating a specific costume, like the Grim Reaper or Masked Hoonter, and using the invasion and resonance bells as often as possible.

The event started on October 5 at midnight and runs all the way through November 5. This is still very much an event in the making, so it's bound to change as more rules develop.

This is Halloween — well, almost.

This is early October, which means it's time to get ready for all your favorite games to kick off their spooktacular Halloween events.

From Fortnite and Apex Legends to Call of Duty, Hearthstone, and even Star Wars Battlefront II, there's a lot going on this Halloween.

EA is currently offering a number of discounts for Xbox One on the Microsoft Store until August 25. While this might not be the same as the Gamescom sale our European counterparts are getting right now, there are still a number of good bargains to be had, from The Sims and Apex Legends to Dragon Age, Unravel, DLC, and more.

Apex Legends' upcoming Season 2 got a good deal of information today, with still more expected to come between now and it's launch date.

Season 2 is called Battle Charge and launches July 2, introducing a wide range of updates and changes, including a 10th legend.

Who is that 10th Legend? It's Wattson, the rumored electric-based fighter that was uncovered in datamining several months back. Wattson is a defensive character who takes advantage of the environment to create strong defenses for her team, and she's meant to vary the Apex Legends playstyle and third-party meta.

For instance, Wattson can place electric fences. Some are purely defensive, while others shoot down incoming weapons and recharge teammates. Her cooldown and the way her skills work mean players have a lot of room to determine whether they want to be offensive, support, or defensive and can dig deeply into character strategies.

Respawn is trying to add as much content as possible to Season 2, including a new weapon, a new Legend, plenty of balancing to make weaker weapons more viable, a new mode, and a new map.

That new weapon is called L-Star, a machine-gun type weapon making its way to Apex Legends from the Titanfall universe. It's a care package weapon, with Respawn calling it incredibly powerful, as in opening doors. Being a care package weapon means the L-Star doesn't pick up ammo; what the player starts with is what they get.

Battle Charge will be introducing 2 new hoppers as well, but Respawn didn't offer any extra details about them yet.

Season 2 will be challenge based instead of time based, which means players won't be penalized for not logging in daily; instead, they can just take on challenges when they're able to. Players will also be able to craft their own Legendary once they reach level 100.

Some of the new skins were detailed as well:

• Caustic: Prince of Darkness
• Octane: Jade Tiger
• Spitfire: Intimidator
• R31: Iron Rampage (lv 100) and a gold version of the same

Season 2 is also introducing a ranked mode. There are 6 tiers for players to progress through, from Bronze up to Apex Predator. Each tier has its own special matchmaking, and while it might mean longer wait times, the idea is to match players with others at a similar skill level.

But there's more to get involved with between now and July 2.

Apex Legends's event the Legendary Hunt starts today, giving players the opportunity to join the APex Legends Elite Queue. Any player who wins 5 matches can join, testing their skills against the most talented Legends in the game. They can also complete legendary hunt challenges to earn cosmetic awards and weapons, Those who win two wins can get the chance to earn yet another legendary weapon.

All Battle Pass owners will get the Honored Prey weapon, and Night Terror is a reward for reaching level 3. This weekend is also the game's first Double XP Weekend, granting extra experience for base levels and Battle Pass levels.

During EA's fourth quarter financial report briefing, COO and CFO Blake Jorgensen finally confirmed Apex Legends will be coming to mobile at some point in the future.

Respawn's battle royale game is also expected to make its way to China and other parts of Asia, although a specific timeframe for the move was not provided.

Currently, Jorgensen said EA can offer no timeline for when fans could expect Apex Legends on mobile. However, he did say the company is in "advanced negotiations" related to the matter and will provide updates once negotiations have finished.

Yet EA's financial forecast is built without expecting any contributions from the mobile version of Apex Legends or the move into China, which could suggest fans won't be seeing the mobile release until later in the year.

Jorgensen revealed this information after covering EA's projected earnings and growth for the coming fiscal year. Despite a slightly lower forecast for packaged goods, EA expects profits from live services to increase anywhere from 10% to 15%, and Apex Legends leads the way for that.

The game's massive success and high Metacritic score, along with the fact that Apex Legends is responsible for 30% of EA's new players, were cited as reasons why EA will continue to produce new ways for players to engage with the game, including mobile, moving forward.

Fans have wondered whether Apex Legends would come to mobile since the game launched back in February. At the time, Respawn couldn't provide any specific details. The developer wanted it to happen eventually, but the priority was getting a full, bug-free game out on major platforms as soon as possible.

After launch, though, EA made mobile development its biggest focus, since it knew mobile would be a huge hit, especially in the APAC region.

Whether Apex Legends mobile will include cross-platform play with other versions when it launches or if it will support iOS and Android, Jorgensen didn't say.

It's a scenario many have encountered:

You're trying to play Apex Legends, and when you try to sign into your PlayApex account, you can't. Instead, you get this weird 100 error. Or you might see something like "Unable to connect" or "Unable to complete EA account sign in".

Here's what it means and something you can do to potentially work around it.

Apex Legends Error Code 100

The servers for Respawn's Apex Legends hosts a tremendous number of players on a daily basis. As one would expect from that kind of strain, the servers occasionally suffer from outages as well, as was the case this past week and again in March.

When the servers and Origin in general are down is when you'll see the code 100 error message. Code 100 is a server outage error. That's why the "Unable to complete EA account sign in" message may show up and also why you can't access any of EA's online games at the time.

How to Fix Error Code 100

The simplest way to fix the issue is just to wait until the servers are back online, and you can sign into your account again.

However, if you know for a fact Origin's servers are up and that it's an issue on your end, there is a workaround you can try that might resolve the issue. It involves changing your system's Domain Name System (DNS) setting.

Changing Your PS4, Xbox One, or PC DNS

The DNS is essentially how a device converts URLs to their IPS addresses, and the default on your system is whatever DNS your service provider uses.

There's a primary DNS, which handles the framework and processing, along with a secondary one that acts as a backup should the first fail and deals with data retrieval as well. You have to change both when you alter your system DNS.

If you're going to change your DNS setting, the generally recommended alternative from your provider's default DNS is Google's DNS.

• Google's primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
• Google's secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4

Here's how to change the DNS for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

It should go without saying that you'd want to write your IP's default address down, in case you want or need to revert the DNS back to its original address later because there's no "default" option.

How to Change PS4 DNS

Changing the PlayStation 4's DNS requires following a few specific steps.

First, go to your network settings. To do that,

1. Navigate to settings
2. Choose "Network"
3. Choose "Set up internet connection"
4. Pick the type of connection you'll use (the steps for changing the DNS are the same for each)
5. Select "custom"

After that, you'll adjust the settings as follows.

1. Set IP address to "Automatic"
2. Put "Do Not Specify" for DCHP Host Name
3. Set the DNS settings to "Manual"
4. Enter the primary DNS (8.8.8.8)
5. Enter the secondary DNS (8.8.4.4)
6. Put "Automatic" for the MTU settings
7. Under Proxy Server, select "Do Not Use"

Save the settings, and return to your home screen. If you had the game application running during this, you'll need to close it, then launch it again.

How to Change XB1 DNS

Changing the Xbox One's DNS is a bit simpler and involves fewer steps.

1. Go to "Settings"
2. Choose "Network"
3. Select "Advanced Settings"
4. Pick "DNS Settings"

Then, just enter the primary DNS (8.8.8.8) followed by the secondary DNS (8.8.4.4). Save the settings, and, like with the PS4, close the application if you had it running.

How to Change PC DNS

Changing your PC's DNS is rather more complicated, in that it requires more steps.

1. Press the Windows key and R to open the command box
2. Type ncpa.cpl, which will bring up the "Network Connections" Control Panel menu
3. Locate your internet connection, and right click it
4. Choose "Properties." A box will open with a list displaying under "This connection uses the following items."
5. Find Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and click it.
6. The "Properties" button to the bottom right will become available. Click it.
7. Select "Use the following DNS server addresses," and type the DNS addresses
8. Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8
9. Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4
10. Choose "Okay"
11. Restart your PC

Again, there's no guarantee altering your DNS will absolutely, without fail work around Apex Legends' Error Code 100, but some have found success with it. If you'd rather not mess with it, rest assured the error isn't permanent, and you'll be back in the game soon.

Drew McCoy, project lead for Respawn Entertainment, recently published a blog post detailing the status of the companies ongoing battle with Apex Legends cheaters on PC and how the team will handle the problem in coming months.

The update was promised in the previous week's blog post and addresses concerns about a wide range of cheating activities, from aim-bots and speed modifiers, to account sellers and account farming.

McCoy said:

We’ve been working closely with key experts across EA, including EA Security and Fraud, the Origin teams, and our fellow developers at DICE, FIFA, and Capital Games, in addition to Easy-Anti-Cheat. While we’ve already rolled out several updates (and will be continually doing so for the foreseeable future), others will take time to fully implement.

We can’t share details on what we’re doing so as to not give a head’s up to the cheat makers, but what we can say is that we’re attacking this from every angle[.]

These angles include beefing up cheater detection methods and, most importantly, the introduction of a new cheater report tool.

McCoy said the new tool has already helped Respawn discover new cheats, including those that were previously undetectable; Easy-Anti Cheat is now able to detect those automatically.

All total, 300,000 account creations have been blocked, and more than 700,000 players have been banned. That's only a small fraction of Apex Legends' concurrent players from a few months ago, but still, it's a significant step forward.

In the last 20 days alone, 4,000 spam accounts were banned, and the number of matches tarnished by cheating has been reduced by more than half within a month.

Some fans might have mourned Respawn's choice of EAC when the decision became public, but it seems Respawn is making good on its promise to root out cheaters and keep the game as fair as possible.

Respawn's Apex Legends has seen a dramatic decrease in Twitch viewers over the past month, and some prominent streamers claim that the game's lack of content and "laggy" servers are primary reasons why. 

According to TwitchTracker statistics, Apex Legends currently ranks as the 10th most popular game on Twitch. It has a bit more than 28,000 concurrent viewers, with roughly 2,500 channels streaming it as of this writing.

To look at it another way, Apex Legends has averaged around 29,000 viewers in the past week from a little more than 2,700 channels. That's a substantial drop-off since February, which saw Apex hit more than 269,000 viewers on average its first week, with an average of 10,000 channels streaming it at any given time.

Available data shows March was the last time Apex Legends saw a considerable spike in viewers, but on the whole, the game has seen a steady decline in viewership since it first broke Fortnite's single-day viewership record.

Epic Games' Fortnite, however, ranks number 1 again, with over 150,000 viewers and just over 11,000 channels streaming. The number of viewers is still lower than Apex's at its height, despite streaming on more channels than Apex did in February.

There is a possible reason for Apex's decreased number of viewers as well: Top Twitch streamers are abandoning the game in favor of other games, like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG).

Twitch streamer Michael "Shroud" Grzesiek said he could permanently leave Apex based on the game's current state, referencing that PUBG is "in a better state" than Apex Legends.

Shroud has also referenced (and run into) the game's "laggy" servers in the past. 

According to the International Business Times, Shroud was one of the streamers primarily responsible for boosting Apex's visibility and popularity. It's not difficult to see why, with an average of 65,000 viewers and over half a million followers.

Aside from the game's current state, Shroud also points to Respawn's lack of new content as a reason why he could leave the game. 

United Front Gaming's Editor-in-Chief, and GameSkinny contributor, Kenneth Seward Jr., echoed similar concerns about Apex Legends. Despite enjoying the game initially, and writing a good many guides on it, he says the shooter has lost its luster.

I actually stopped playing right after they released the first battle pass. I had already got all the achievements and was hoping for something else to work towards. Unfortunately, the pass...wasn't cost friendly. It felt like the devs were only focused on money. I mean...after you reached a certain level, you stopped getting loot boxes outside of the battle pass.

Part of Respawn's core approach to Apex Legends was a slow-and-steady update plan, taking detailed player feedback into consideration and testing extensively before implementing new changes.

However appreciated some aspects of that approach might be, as with the latest update's gun balancing, it seems this philosophy has the potential to hurt the game in the long run.
