Blood-sucking nazi-hunting Rayne looks better than ever, with BloodRayne Terminal Cut and BloodRayne 2: Terminal Cut. Ziggurat Interactive, who published the games on PC in 2020, are now releasing the final, "Ultimate" updates for both games. It is free for all current owners of either game.

As for what it brings to the table, the Ultimate Update includes video and audio enhancements, Japanese voice acting, gameplay balances, and more. BloodRayne now looks and plays better than it ever has before. You can watch the new trailers for both games below.

To get more into the gritty details of the Ultimate Update, it provides both games with improvements across the board, like restored enemy texture models (so they now look like their original console counterparts), various bug fixes, and improved graphical and visual fidelity.

Michael Devine, SVP of Business Development for Ziggurat said that the team has been hard at work to make these PC versions stand alongside the games that launched back in 2002 and 2004, respectively.

He said in a release that "[Ziggurat Interactive have] continued to make improvements fans have been asking for, and we're excited to launch what we know are the best versions yet of the original games."

BloodRayne: Terminal Cut and BloodRayne 2: Terminal Cut are currently available on GOG and Steam for PC.

Apex Legends' Lifeline is in for a Change, According to Respawn https://www.gameskinny.com/94yqm/apex-legends-lifeline-is-in-for-a-change-according-to-respawn https://www.gameskinny.com/94yqm/apex-legends-lifeline-is-in-for-a-change-according-to-respawn Mon, 12 Apr 2021 15:46:54 -0400 David Carcasole

Lifeline, one of the original roster members for Respawn's Apex Legends, will be getting a few changes in the game's next update as revealed from a Reddit AMA with developers.

The changes will reportedly attempt to re-balance Lifeline, first by removing the ability for Lifeline's drone to drop a shield while reviving downed enemies. Other tweaks and changes will look to up Lifeline's tactical healing speed by 60% and buff Lifeline's ultimate to guarantee upgrades every time.

The trade-off of speed and agility for a strong passive ability is an interesting one, and it will force many Lifeline players (myself included) to use their hero in new ways.

More changes are on the horizon, though, for Apex Legends, with the start of Season 9 beginning to loom over the curtain of Season 8. Lifeline's alterations may just be the least effectual change to the game, as recent rumors have suggested that Titans could be a new addition to Apex Legends gameplay. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more.

Is There Any Hope for Street Fighter 5 at This Point? https://www.gameskinny.com/g69am/is-there-any-hope-for-street-fighter-5-at-this-point https://www.gameskinny.com/g69am/is-there-any-hope-for-street-fighter-5-at-this-point Mon, 27 Feb 2017 08:00:01 -0500 Bryant Pereira

Games launching with missing features is, unfortunately, a common occurrence these days. Grand Theft Auto V got away with releasing online features two weeks late (with server issues), but Street Fighter V’s lackluster launch was a major disappointment for both veteran and casual fans of the series. A year after release, the game has sold only 1.5 million copies and has yet to capture the attention of a large audience like its predecessors did.

Released in February 2016, SFV was praised for its mechanics and gameplay, but criticized for launching without a proper arcade mode, its lack of characters, and its crippling server issues, which were prevalent enough to warrant a comment from Capcom CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto about the game's launch:

"Based on what we learned from the past year of operations, it’s best to spend a little more time in developing and running a high-quality title that will perform well globally.

For example, some aspects of “Street Fighter V” needed more polish, such as the lack of content and server issues at launch."

Although Capcom has since addressed their server issues and rage quitting problems that plagued the game at launch, SFV still doesn’t have a proper arcade mode and has depended on its modding community to fix load times. On top of that, Capcom’s financial earnings page shows that Street Fighter V has only sold 100,000 copies between May 2016 and February 2017 -- significantly less than other games in the franchise over a similar period of time.

Missing a number of single-player features and locking new characters behind a rather expensive paywall has deterred new and casual players from getting into the game. Regardless of its fluid combat, mechanically sound gameplay, and great graphics, Street Fighter V fails to emulate the “games as a service” method that worked so well for Street Fighter IV.

SFV's two season passes even surpass the price of the base game itself -- while only adding 12 new characters to the roster, five of which have yet to be released.

This puts Capcom in an unfortunate position: Fans who purchased the game at launch feel like they’re spending too much money on a half-finished product, while casual players may be put off by the game's initially poor reception -- along with having to spend over $80 to get everything in the game, even as a bundle.

Professional players like Daigo are still sticking to their roots, but many are having trouble sticking to the game due to balance issues.

These issues could be driving players to other fighting games to get their fix. After months of being ignored, Mortal Kombat X is starting to have a thriving community on PC. The first Injustice game was fantastic, and the sequel is gearing up to do just as well. Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 and Tekken 7 will join the two previous titles at EVO 2017 after their release. If all these anticipated titles have acceptable launches and polish up their already solid formulas, they could soon take the crown from the undisputed fighting game king.

Some games like Skullgirls and The King of Fighters are already growing in popularity in online communities as well. An appealing low price of entry along with varied, balanced characters are drawing PC and console players to these fighting games.

One thing is clear, though, and that is Capcom is dedicated to its hardcore audience and those interested in the fighting game community. Whether met with positive reception or not, developers are still (a year later) working on balancing the game and putting heavy emphasis on the eSports scene. Street Fighter V broke records last year for the number of entrants at EVO 2016 and will be streamed on TBS during the ELeague Invitational this year, boasting a $250,000 prize pool.

In order to repair its reputation and draw its audience back in, Capcom is going to have to seriously overhaul Street Fighter V. The game could very well be revitalized with an updated release, similar to Super Street Fighter IV, bundling in all of the DLC characters with a major content upgrade. Catering to the hardcore audience is the best course of action to keep players continuously engaged, but without any focus on the casual audience, Street Fighter V is easily missing out on millions of potential sales.

Relics and Rituals: What Active Item Changes in SMITE Season 4 Mean For You https://www.gameskinny.com/ge8an/relics-and-rituals-what-active-item-changes-in-smite-season-4-mean-for-you https://www.gameskinny.com/ge8an/relics-and-rituals-what-active-item-changes-in-smite-season-4-mean-for-you Thu, 19 Jan 2017 23:42:36 -0500 Justin Michael

With season 3 drawing to a close and after all of the amazing performances at SMITE World Championships it's time to look forward at what season 4 has in store for us. According to SMITE's lead designer, A.J. Walker, "We wanted to push the limits of what we can do in the game even further... we look forward to our fan's feedback as they get their hands on season 4 in the public test servers."

So what kind of changes can we expect to see in season 4? Well, the biggest change we can expect to see is in the adjustments to Relics, powerful items that could tip the scale in the early-to-mid game, and the addition of rituals, powerful consumable items designed for use in the late-game.

Relics

Relics provide special powers available to all Gods. Your first Relic is free at level 1 and your second Relic is unlocked once you reach level 12.

Relics are big-deal items that generally confer a large buff or powerful ability with an equally large cooldown timer. With the season 4 patch, we're seeing 2 Relics -- Frenzy and Scout -- being removed from the list and re-designed as consumable items.

Additionally, players will now have the ability to upgrade their Relics at any time for 500 gold. Upgrading the Relics reduces the cooldown timer and for certain Relics, it increases the buff percentage and buff duration. Some other changes include:

Sanctuary is now Aegis Amulet
  • Upgrading reduces cooldown from 160s to 130s
Blink is now Blink Rune
  • Upgrading reduces cooldown from 120s to 90s
 Curse is now Cursed Ankh
  • Healing reduction increased from 5s to 10s
  • No longer has a slow effect
  • Upgrading increases heal reduction from 50% to 65%
  • Duration increased from 10s to 15s

I think that the removal of the slow effect is really going to make the use of the Cursed Ankh a more tactical one and, where some people might see this as a potential nerf to the Relic, I see it as a balanced buff. You're getting double the duration of healing reduction right off the bat. Additionally, if you decide to upgrade it you're looking at putting a serious hurting on the enemy team's healer with 65% reduction of their role responsibility.

Wrath is now Hand of the Gods
    • Deals 300+10 per level to a single enemy minion or jungle monster
    • Targets based off of max HP
    • Cooldown gets reduced by 30s if you kill the mob with it
    • No longer deals damage to jungle bosses
    • When upgraded it will also stun enemy Gods within range

This is a huge change to Wrath and how it used to work. It was designed originally as a tool to help clear jungle camps but if you were taking on a boss like the Gold Fury or the Fire Giant, Wrath would deal 1250 damage to this boss units. I still think that HotG will be a viable jungle clear tool but taking on bigger objectives is very much going to be a team effort requiring good communication as well as map awareness.

 Sprint is now Heavenly Wings
      • Slow only cleanses on activation now
      • Upgrading gives allies basic attack slow penalty immunity
 Shell is now Magic Shell
      • Base protection reduced from 45 to 30
      • Damage mitigation reduced from 15% to 5%
      • Upgrading increases protection from 30 to 45 also, increases damage mitigation from 5% to 10%
 Meditation is now Meditation Cloak
      • If upgraded buffs allies with 45% mana and 15% health increase for 30s
 Phantom is now Phantom Veil
      • New visuals and audio
      • Removed basic attack slow immunity
      • 40% CC reduction and immunity to knock ups
      • Upgrading it increases duration from 5s to 10s
 Purification is now Purification Beads
      • Upgrade reduces cooldown from 160s to 130s
Thorns is now Shield of Thorns
      • Damage reflection increased from 40% to 50%
      • Upgrading increases duration from 5s to 8s and reduces cooldown from 120s to 100s
 Sunder is now Sundering Spear
      • New audio
      • removed the protection and attack speed debuffs
      • increases damage taken by the target by 30% for 5s
      • Upgrading increases damage from 40+14 per level to 60+20 per level and reduces cooldown from 120s to 100s

Sundering spear is still a great option for getting around a heavily armored foe with some great true damage. If upgraded, you're looking at doing 460 true damage in addition to dropping their defenses by 30% for 5 seconds. While this might not be enough to drop a hearty tank like Geb, this would most certainly be enough to crush a careless mage/hunter/jungler that overextends.

 Teleport is now Teleport Glyph
      • Increased cooldown from 180s to 200s
      • Upgrading reduces the cooldown from 200s to 160s
New Relics
 Horrific Emblem
      • Slows enemy Gods within 55 units by 40%
      • Reduces their attack speed by 25% for 5s
      • Upgrading reduces the cooldown from 150s to 120s
 Bracer of Undoing
      • Abilities on cooldown have their cooldown reduced by 3s
      • Restores 50% health and mana lost within the last 3s
      • Upgrading increases the damage timer from 3s to 5s
      • 120s cooldown

Alright, BoU is going to be one of those high-risk/high-reward Relics. In the right hands, this is going to be a powerful initiation tool as well as survivability tool. I could see this working very well on a character with an escape ability, like Neith, who could get into the fight, deal a lot of damage, and then backflip away restoring half of the damage taken during the exchange.

This could also be a great tool for the team tanks, allowing them to hold the line for longer because they can negate 50% of the punishment with the press of a button. The only thing that keeps this Relic from being overpowered is the fact that it is susceptible to healing reduction -- like that of the Cursed Ankh Relic mentioned above.

Rituals

A new type of item comes to SMITE as a Consumable! The powerful Ritual Items are designed to enhance the late game experience of SMITE. When your build was finished, there were very few options for players to help end the game. Rituals will now provide way more options, but at a very high cost, especially since you only get one use per purchase. These items will allow skilled players to make truly amazing plays in the late game.

There are currently 4 rituals coming with the season 4.1 patch which can be purchased for 750 gold each. In order to buy them, you must be at level 10+ but at the cost point, it wouldn't likely be a viable purchase until you were in the late game or had the core items of your character build at a minimum. The Rituals are as follows:

Flickering Ritual
      • When activated, it teleports you to a ground target location up to 55 units away. Can be used in combat.

Unlike the Blink Rune, Flickering ritual can be used in combat, while BR requires you to be out of combat for at least 3s in order for you to use it. This could be the difference between life or death in a heavy engagement.

 Frenzied Ritual
      • When activated, it buffs all allies within 55 units of the caster, increasing their damage by 25% and attack speed by 20% for 10s.

This Ritual would be perfect for rapid sieging of a phoenix or a jungle boss like the Fire Giant. It could also be used to tip the scales in a team fight, especially if used in tandem with something like the upgraded Hand of the Gods Relic since it stuns all enemy Gods in range.

 Rallying Ritual
      • When activated, it teleports you to the allied God of your choice after a 4 second channel time. Can be interrupted by Hard CC and the Ritual will be lost

This is a very powerful global ability that could be used in so many ways. The biggest problem with it is the fact that it can be CC'd and that means a potential 750 gold blown. I see this being really useful in blitzkrieg use for rapidly bolstering number during lane splits or for turning a 1v1 into a 2v1. I'm looking forward to seeing this Ritual in competitive play.

 Revealing Ritual
      • When activated, it provides your entire team with vision of the entire enemy team, revealing their locations on the map, and also their placed wards within 70 units of the user for 5s.

This is another very powerful, late game Ritual. Knowing where your enemies are is a powerful tactical advantage and being able to see, and destroy their vision wards is as helpful as it is satisfying. The ability to deny camp vision on big jungle targets like the Gold Fury and the Fire Giant could be the key to victory.

It will be interesting to see how players adapt to the changes and additions to Relics and Rituals once season 4 makes its way to the main SMITE servers.

What Relic changes and Rituals are you most looking forward to in season 4? Let's talk about it in the comments below!

Overwatch -- It's Been a Good Year https://www.gameskinny.com/m4e56/overwatch-its-been-a-good-year https://www.gameskinny.com/m4e56/overwatch-its-been-a-good-year Wed, 21 Dec 2016 12:33:09 -0500 Jeffrey Rousseau

Today, Blizzard has shared a new developer update for Overwatch. The video, again featuring Jeff Kaplan, addresses 2016 and the game's number of content.

Kaplan begins the video noting the success that Blizzard has seen with Sombra upon her release. It was addressed that any update to Sombra may take some time. The team wants to avoid an issue that would create an overpowered character. Previously in a past update, Ana became somewhat over powered after she was perceived as being too weak. The development team does not want to repeat the same mistake.

He also goes on to confirm that new heroes are in development. Their release is dependent upon a number of factors. This requires a number of play testing and so forth. An example he refers to is the hero Genji, whom required a year and half for proper testing. This being said, he also hints that a new hero maybe ready for 2017.

More details can be found watching the video.

Fans of competitive FPS titles and Overwatch can look forward to these changes in 2017.

Dota 2 Just Launched a Massive Update https://www.gameskinny.com/k65qk/dota-2-just-launched-a-massive-update https://www.gameskinny.com/k65qk/dota-2-just-launched-a-massive-update Mon, 12 Dec 2016 13:05:31 -0500 Caio Sampaio

Mark this date, December 12, 2016. After today, your experience playing Dota 2 will never be the same.

Valve has released the massive 7.00 patch for its free-to-play MOBA, and it presents players with massive changes to the game -- including a new hero and many alterations to the mechanics and visuals of the experience.

And The changes don't stop there.

Valve listed the new content under four categories: a new hero, new interface, new pre-game mechanics and new gameplay elements.

The New Hero - Monkey King

Monkey King is a hero that focuses on melee attacks -- but if things get tricky on the battlefield, he also counts on his “escape” and “disable” skills. His ultimate ability consists of spawning a group of monkeys to assist him in combat.

In addition to the new hero, Valve is also selling a map terrain based on the new hero, for $12.99, as well as Arcana skins. As the official website states, when equipped, the Arcana grants the following upgrades to the new hero:

  • New base model and texture
  • Custom particle effects for Monkey King's Primal Spring ability
  • Dynamic Style that changes according to the level of Wukong's Ultimate
  • A cloud-riding run animation when travelling vast distances in a short period of time
  • Altered Voice and additional voice responses for style changes and cloud animation
  • Custom Hero Portrait
  • Arcana Loading Screen
  • Custom Taunt
  • Custom Emoticon
New Interface

The interface of the game has been fully redesigned, including new selection screens, a new animation before the matches, and several changes to the HUD, as shown in the image above.

New Pre-game Mechanics

Valve has offered to players an easier way to pick their heroes and tactics before their matches commence. As the official website clarifies:

"With a staggering number of possible heroes to choose from, and endless new combinations and strategies to discover, there's a lot to consider when preparing a squad to take down an Ancient. Now players have more tools to help find the right heroes and plan their early-game attack as a team, all while the game loads seamlessly in the background so it's ready when you are."

Gameplay Mechanics

The experience of the game changes significantly in the 7.00 patch. The features added include “backpack slot”, “hero talent”, changes to the maps, and various small adjustments.

The patch includes a talent tree that gives bonuses to heroes at the 10/15/20/25 levels. These are special bonuses or skills for players to use in combat.

The backpack gives to players the ability to carry three more items in combat.

These are the most important changes the 7.0 patch brings, but there are dozens of other minor alterations that influence the experience of the game -- including community-authored bots, remodeling of some heroes, dynamic grass, windblown trees and a lot more.

Star Trek Online Issuing Weekly Fixes To Game https://www.gameskinny.com/6qjc8/star-trek-online-issuing-weekly-fixes-to-game https://www.gameskinny.com/6qjc8/star-trek-online-issuing-weekly-fixes-to-game Sun, 09 Oct 2016 07:12:55 -0400 Joey Marrazzo

Since 2010, Star Trek Online has been a place for Trekkies to be the captain of their own ship. It wasn't until last month that consoles were able to take control of a ship they can call their own.

Star Trek Online was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6 and received less than stellar reviews from critics and fans. To improve the game for players and ensure that the game is always in the best possible state, the developers have been doing weekly maintenance updates.

These updates include fixing:

  • Targeting when aiming at friendly or enemy NPCs.
  • Crashing issues
  • Character Creation problems

To see the full list of fixes in the latest update, you can click HERE!

The weekly maintenance updates happen on Thursday's in the AM. If you wake up and see that the servers are down but you are in the mood to go "where no man has gone before," you should pick up Star Trek Beyond which is available now on Digital HD and comes out on Blu-Ray and DVD on November 1st.

And if you don't like the cover art for the movie, don't you fret. The fine folks at the Star Trek Beyond booth at New York Comic Con let me create my own cover art for you guys to use.

Juri and New Costumes Will be Available for Street Fighter V This Month https://www.gameskinny.com/72evm/juri-and-new-costumes-will-be-available-for-street-fighter-v-this-month https://www.gameskinny.com/72evm/juri-and-new-costumes-will-be-available-for-street-fighter-v-this-month Fri, 22 Jul 2016 05:19:27 -0400 Megan M. Campbell

Following the announcements at EVO 2016 and San Diego Comic Con, Street Fighter V will be adding a new character to the roster: Juri. Introduced in Street Fighter IV, Juri is a “sadistic fighter who enjoys violence and loves tormenting her prey, with a tendency to get involved in anything she deems as fun or dangerous”.

Juri also makes an appearance in the free story DLC, “A Shadow Falls”. So if you want to find out what she’s been up to since Street Fighter IV, be sure to check it out once it's released!

PlayStation also told fans what her V-Skill, V-Trigger, and Critical Art are which are as follows:

V-Skill: Kasatsushu

Juri charges her attack and rushes at the opponent, kicking them from behind. She can choose to charge Kasatsushu by holding down the V-Skill command. During this charge, she can cancel the attack at any time by inputting a forward or backward dash. She also maintains her charge level after the cancel.

V-Trigger: Feng Shui Engine Type Alpha

When Juri activates this move, she can cancel all of her standard attacks (both air and ground attacks) into one another. In addition, each strength of her Fuharenkyaku attacks will remain in their charged state.

Critical Art: Sakkai Fuhazan

Juri kicks a large slicing blast towards the opponent that hits multiple times.

New Costumes

Not only is Juri arriving to Street Fighter V -- new costumes will also be available for Ibuki, Cammy, and Laura. These are Summer Costumes that were announced at San Diego Comic Con. Each Premium Summer costume will cost $3.99.

Street Fighter V Fixes Character Bugs in Latest Update https://www.gameskinny.com/4uv3a/street-fighter-v-fixes-character-bugs-in-latest-update https://www.gameskinny.com/4uv3a/street-fighter-v-fixes-character-bugs-in-latest-update Sun, 17 Jul 2016 10:24:47 -0400 Megan M. Campbell

On July 13th, Street Fighter V received a Cinematic Story Mode update which also fixed some bugs with the fighters. Although bugs have been a big issue with the game, it isn't the only thing the game has suffered from. The game was released without many key aspects like a Cinematic Story Mode and an in-game store. Previous updates include fixes to rage quitting and online match quality.

Capcom has learned it lesson from this experience and has said it would prioritize "completeness" over releasing something early. This new mentality occurred with May's update when Ibuki was supposed to be included, but was delayed until July 1st.

A majority of characters have suffered from bugs and Capcom has listed fixes for some of them – a majority have seen some change. Some fix frame advantages hit boxes on characters and attacks, and unintended invincibility. Fifteen fighters had bugs that were fixed in this update and these are listed below:

Cammy
  • Bug: Fatal Leg Twister cannot throw opponents who are in a couch state. However, when an opponent is coming out of a damage motion/animation and is attempting to crouch while coming out of the animation, Cammy could perform this move through the opponent.

Fix: Cammy's Fatal Leg Twister, a throw attack that is not meant to throw opponents in a crouching state, is no longer able to throw an opponent who is inputting a crouch while coming out of a damage motion/animation.

Nash
  • Bug: When throwing Sonic Booms (all strengths), Nash's collision box didn’t extend all the way to Nash's feet when releasing the projectile, causing the opponent character to pass through him when approaching from behind.

Fix: The collision box of the Sonic Boom motion is now set to reach Nash's feet so that the opponent character cannot pass through him.

  • Bug: Nash's collision box when stunned (dizzied) is slightly shifted towards his backside when compared to how he appears on the screen and when trying to hit Nash while in a stunned state, unintended behaviors would occur.

Fix: Adjusted Nash's collision box when in a stunned state so that its position matches Nash's appearance on screen.

  • Bug: Activating V-Trigger at the same time the opponent performs a V-Reversal, caused a bug where the camera would move incorrectly for a period of time.

Fix: Corrected this issue so that when Nash’s V-Trigger is activated at the same time as the opponent’s V-Reversal the camera no longer moves incorrectly.

F.A.N.G
  • Bug: During M. or H. Ryobenda, there is a moment where F.A.N.G’s lower body collision box would disappear, which was unintended.

Fix: Adjusted M. and H. Ryobenda so that the collision box is consistent throughout the entire motion of the move.

Rashid
  • Bug: In Flap Spin, V. Spinning Mixer, and Dash Spinning Mixer, the empty guard box was set so that it could not force the opponent's guard motion.

Fix: Flap Spin, V. Spinning Mixer, and Dash Spinning Mixer, are now able to force the opponent to empty guard.

  • Bug: When doing an EX Eagle Spike from Front Flip (V-Skill), the kick buttons have to be pressed at precisely the same time in order for the move to come out.

Fix: EX Eagle Spike from Front Flip will come out even if there is a one frame gap between the kick buttons that are pressed simultaneously.

  • Bug: Due to the small size of V Eagle Spike's collision box, when performing the move when the V-Trigger's tornado is right behind the opponent, the move would pass through the opposite side of the opponent.

Fix: Increased the size of V Eagle Spike's collision box so that Rashid doesn't pass through the opponent.

  • Bug: When Assault Beak hits as a counter hit, the distance created between Rashid and the opponent upon hit is a little more than when it hits normally, which is not intended.

Fix: Adjusted Assault Beak so that when it hits as a counter, the distance created between Rashid and the opponent is the same as when Assault Beak hits are a normal hit.

  • Bug: Rashid was unable to cancel the initial jump frames into Altair.

Fix: Initial jump frames can now be canceled into Altair.

Birdie
  • Bug: There is a section in Bull Slider’s hurt box that doesn’t contain a throw box, which unintentionally provided throw invincibility to Birdie.

Fix: There is now a throw box throughout the entire motion of Bull Slider.

Alex
  • Bug: Alex's V-Skill, Overhaul's effect is supposed to be negated when Alex hits an opponent with an attack, when his attack is guarded, or when getting hit by an opponent’s attack. However, even when Alex's J. LP or J. LK is guarded, the effect would remain present.

Fix: When J. LP or J. LK is guarded by the opponent, Overhaul's effect is negated.

Ken
  • Bug: During V-Trigger, L. Shoryuken landing motion can be canceled into M. Shoryuken, H. Shoryuken, or EX Shoryuken. But, when an opponent jumps over Ken while he is performing this cancel on a whiffed V L. Shoryuken, Ken would perform the additional Shoryuken towards the opposite direction.

Fix: V. L. Shoryuken landing animation after being whiffed or guarded is no longer cancelable into M. Shoryuken, H. Shoryuken, or EX Shoryuken.

  • Bug: When H. Shoryuken trades during the initial part of the attack, Ken is way more advantageous and can easily gain the upper hand, which was not intended.

Fix: Made it difficult for Ken to gain the upper hand when the first part of an H. Shoryuken trades with an opponent’s attack.

Ryu
  • Bug: When Jodan Sanrengeki hits an opponent right when they are going from a standing state into a crouching state, the hit animation of the opponent behaved irregularly.,

Fix: Adjusted Jodan Sanrengeki so that when it hits an opponent transferring into a couching state, the opponents hit animation behaves normally.

  • Bug: During V-Trigger, when successfully performing Mind’s Eye (V-Skill), it was impossible to cancel the second half of Mind’s Eye’s into another Mind’s Eye.

Fix: Corrected this so that during V-Trigger, the second half of a successfully performed Mind’s Eye can be canceled into another Mind’s Eye.

Bison
  • Bug: EX Head Press (including while V-Trigger is activated) would miss the second stomp at times when used against certain actions.

Fix: The hit box of the second stomp in EX Head Press (including while V-Trigger is activated) has been expanded, making it easier for it to hit.

  • Bug: When Psycho Inferno hits an opponent or is guarded, the side taking damage would gain large amount of meter.

Fix: Lowered the amount of meter gained by the side taking damage from being hit or guarding Psycho Inferno.

Dhalsim
  • Bug: The empty guard box on Yoga Gale (normal ver.) is placed high, making it difficult to force opponents to guard.

Fix: Lowered the empty guard box on Yoga Gale, making it easier to force opponents to guard.

Guile
  • Bug: When Guile’s Sonic Hurricane hits an airborne opponent right after the move becomes active, if the opponent performs a recovery, Guile would be put at about a 16 frame disadvantage.

Fix: Because this was an unintended circumstance, Sonic Hurricane has been adjusted so that in cases when it hits and only on hit, Guile will be able to move before his opponent.

Vega
  • Bug: When performing a V-Trigger (Bloody Kiss - Rojo) without the claw on wake-up or after guarding, it was impossible for it to be used as a reversal.

Fix: This has been corrected so that when the V-Tigger (Bloody Kiss - Rojo) is used without the claw on during wake-up or after guarding it can be used as a reversal.

  • Bug: With the claw is equipped, when inputting down(any crouch input)+LP+LK right before waking up or coming out of hit/guard stun, he would perform a C. LP instead of a normal throw when Vega becomes moveable.

Fix: This has been corrected so that when pressing down (any crouch input)+LP+LK during reversal timing with Vega (w/ claw) will result in a normal throw when Vega becomes movable.

Chun-Li
  • Bug: When Dhalsim is the opponent, when attempting to hit him with Yosokyaku's first hit, whether or not it would hit would differ between the 1P side and the 2P side under specific circumstances.

Fix: Widened the hit box of Yosokyaku towards Chun-Li's backside very slightly so that when the move hits or misses is consistent regardless of which side Chun-Li is on.

Ibuki
  • Bug: After activating Ibuki's air throw (Tobizaru), Ibuki was invincible while landing on the ground.

Fix: Added a hurtbox to Ibuki during her landing frames after an activated Tobizaru.

  • Bug: When holding down HP while activating Tenrai (Ibuki's V-Skill), Tenrai would only come out at max charge.

Fix: Corrected this so that even when holding down HP, Tenrai can be used without being charged.

Riot shines a light on the upcoming Assassin class changes https://www.gameskinny.com/wdv7m/riot-shines-a-light-on-the-upcoming-assassin-class-changes https://www.gameskinny.com/wdv7m/riot-shines-a-light-on-the-upcoming-assassin-class-changes Mon, 27 Jun 2016 05:33:07 -0400 Kevin Malkiewicz

Riot posted on its forums recently about upcoming plans to adjust the Assassin class in League of Legends. The developer has learned from past class adjustments and is planning to put quality of change over quantity of change -- even though it seems like a daunting task to correctly address some of the major concerns with the champions grouped in the Assassin class.

Some of the issues addressed in the post are Assassin damage, their survivability, and their usefulness to the team as a whole. Riot poster, Statikk, reassures players that they want the gameplay of Assassins to be healthy -- giving both sides, attacker and victim, chances to outplay one another. These small windows will allow for player skill to shine, as opposed to people feeling helpless when going up against one another.

There was not a time table given for release of this update; however, Riot did provide a loose list of champions they'd would like to address with this class adjustment. Those champions are as follow:

  • Akali
  • Ekko
  • Evelyn
  • Fizz
  • Kassadin
  • Katarina
  • Kha’Zix
  • LeBlanc
  • Rengar
  • Shaco
  • Talon
  • Zed

This list was reiterated to not be a definitive list, but to be used as a guideline for potential updates.

Which champions would you like to see tweaked or overhauled with this class adjustment pass?

More Updates for Street Fighter V Are Coming Next Week https://www.gameskinny.com/yepny/more-updates-for-street-fighter-v-are-coming-next-week https://www.gameskinny.com/yepny/more-updates-for-street-fighter-v-are-coming-next-week Thu, 23 Jun 2016 11:45:24 -0400 Megan M. Campbell

Even after the first major update to Street Fighter V, players are still having issues with the game. The development team has responded to this with another update – this time to “Matchmaking”.

A Capcom employee under the name of haunts tweeted today that new updates on Street Fighter V’s matchmaking system will be coming next week. These updates include:

Matchmaking Preference Improvements

Since the game launched, some users have reported having issues with the matchmaking preferences. According to the announcement:

“This [included] hardware preference settings, connection quality settings and being match with other players far outside of your League Point range. These issues have now been resolved.”

Matchmaking Speed

Occasionally, players' League Points weren’t synchronizing across the servers, which led to longer wait times to find a match. With the new update, users will be able to find matches at a much faster rate.

Overall Matchmaking Improvements

Players have been having issues getting matched with players of similar skill level. The update has improved the logic for the system so that players should get matched with similarly skilled players more often. This also includes improvements to location based matchmaking and an increased range of qualified match candidates.

Online Match Quality

The final update focuses on the quality of online matches. The connection range settings (1-5) have been improved and “should more accurately reflect the quality of incoming matches.”

Do you think these updates are enough to give players the multiplayer experience they deserve? Let me know in the comments!

Capcom has released the launch trailer for Umbrella Corps, a multiplayer-based shooter game that is a spin-off of the Resident Evil series. The game is already out for PC and PS4 in North America, and the trailer includes the gameplay, new maps, and new modes that will be updated consecutively.

Some maps are inspired by the locations from the past Resident Evil series. One is based on the Spencer Mansion from the first Resident Evil, featuring ornate interior design.

Another free map that is under development is based on the streets of Lanshiang, China, from Resident Evil 6

4 Survivors mode, a free-for-all mode with limited ammo and health, is also being developed. Players can experience battles in dark stages where Zombie Jammers are unavailable, which means that not only other players, but also zombies will be threatening to the players.

Umbrella Corps was released on June 21, 2016. Unfortunately, it has been receiving negative feedback from players; however, players can look forward to enjoy more of Umbrella Corps through several free updates.

Stardew Valley abandoned? Or just developer issues? https://www.gameskinny.com/cp1wt/stardew-valley-abandoned-or-just-developer-issues https://www.gameskinny.com/cp1wt/stardew-valley-abandoned-or-just-developer-issues Mon, 20 Jun 2016 05:59:40 -0400 Engela Snyman

The cute indie-farming game Stardew Valley has captured the hearts of gamers worldwide. But it appears that developers ChuckleFish and ConcernedApe have gone dark on their players.

ConcernedApe promised a string of content, from new dialogue with your spouses, console ports, new farm buildings, new crops, more events, more secrets, and so forth. But so far it hasn't been delivered.

The last update was over two months ago, and although ConcernedApe promised he was working on multiplayer, thus far there has been no word on any progress or a release date.

What has many people concerned is the inclusion of Chucklefish to help with multiplayer and the ports. The studio has a history of struggling to meet deadlines, not communicating with with players, and making  promises they never seem to keep.

Their latest fiasco was Starbound. After having made hefty promises of great in-game content, they went ahead and removed most of it and then stopped working on the title all together. Starbound did well, but it was how ChuckleFish handled the development that has players worried for Stardew Valley.

In their latest update, ChuckleFish made this statement:

"ConcernedApe will retain creative control over everything, of course, and we will be working very closely with him to ensure that the game’s overall intimate feeling and personality is retained in every version of the game."

For most gamers this is a relief -- and so far the developers have proven they are well on top of things. But with such a long silence from ConcernedApe, it has most players rightfully concerned.

SNOW now with snowboards and snowmobiles! https://www.gameskinny.com/zbtgo/snow-now-with-snowboards-and-snowmobiles https://www.gameskinny.com/zbtgo/snow-now-with-snowboards-and-snowmobiles Sun, 29 May 2016 09:45:16 -0400 Engela Snyman

The upcoming Winter Sport game SNOW developed by Poppermost - has promised to add snowboarding and snowmobiling to their wintry game. Both of these features have been added by popular demand.

Announced on the 24th of May 2016, this is one cold step closer to the company's main goal: to make the most fun and realistic winter sports game on the market. The game boasts a wide range of gear you can customize, and pretty realistic winter sport game-play.

The new snowboarding has been designed to offer a different experience from the current in-game sport, skiing. The two styles have been studied in depth to give the player the most realistic experience possible, and to ensure both sports offer completely different play styles. Whether this is true or not is for the masses to decide, but we can't deny that it looks pretty damn cool.

As for the snowmobiles they "bring a new dimension to the game", according to Poppermost, and will help players get to their favorite skiing spots more easily. They will be readily available all over the world, and can quickly climb the steep mountains in search for the perfect jump-spot. Or you can just take a drive on the country roads for some relaxation.

Will there be snowmobile races? We can only hope.

As of late SNOW seems to be quite popular. It's currently free to play and in open beta so anyone can take a dive down the white slopes if they so choose. Poppermost prides itself on its level of authenticity, and detail, as Alexander Bergandhi, CEO at Poppermost puts it:

"We’ve put tremendous care and energy into capturing the very unique ways in which these sports feel in order to deliver that same level of enjoyable authenticity our community has come to expect from the game."

With how well the game is being received, it should hopefully all go downhill from here - in a good winter sports way.

SFV DLC character Alex is only temporary https://www.gameskinny.com/bsbx9/sfv-dlc-character-alex-is-only-temporary https://www.gameskinny.com/bsbx9/sfv-dlc-character-alex-is-only-temporary Thu, 31 Mar 2016 04:32:22 -0400 JunaeBenne

Alex, the DLC character who released with Street Fighter V's most recent update, is here only for a trial period. As mentioned in yesterday's SFV updates article that the Zenny store isn’t accessible in this set of updates, but newcomer Alex is available. However, it turns out Alex is only available for a short time.

Zenny is purchased with real money, and Capcom wants to make sure it is fully functional before launching it. There is still no ETA on the Zenny store. This is difficult news for gamers to swallow -- especially those who want to purchase DLC characters such as Alex. To combat this minor setback, Alex will be available for a trail period for free until the Zenny store is up and running; this applies to all DLC characters. *Cha-ching*

This is good news, only until the Zenny shop launches afterwards, the DLCs will disappear and be available for purchase with Fight Money, Zenny, or via the Season Pass. Anything purchased with Fight Money or earned during this trial period will be saved after the Zenny shop is functional. What good are the costumes if you don’t have the characters?

Season Pass users will be the only ones to keep premium costumes and characters after the Zenny shop is available. They also get a brand new stage somewhere in the near future.

Capcom hasn’t forgotten about us little people! Due to all the problems during the beta phases the Ryu and Chun-Li’s story mode costumes are available for free during the update on the 30th. The value on their costumes equals 80,000 Fight Money, which is almost the full value of a DLC character.

Bungie announces a weekly Destiny show https://www.gameskinny.com/9jv9s/bungie-announces-a-weekly-destiny-show https://www.gameskinny.com/9jv9s/bungie-announces-a-weekly-destiny-show Fri, 26 Feb 2016 05:17:57 -0500 Nick Harshman

Bungie has announced that they are looking to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at how the incredibly popular Destiny game was made. Titled "Ride Along", this weekly series will play host to various Bungie employees as they discuss what it takes to keep the game up and running. The show will air on Bungie's Twitch channel.

The first episode is going to air March 2, and will be lead by Senior Artist Andrew Hopps and Senior Designer Brian Frank. The episode will mainly focus on Oryx's Fortress, as well as how they go about actually creating the destinations they have planned for their fans.

Later episodes will focus on the audio team and Clan Resolute. The audio based installment will have members of the audio team sharing stories about the creation of the game's unique sound. From gunfire to the soundtrack, it seems like they'll talk about a little of everything. The Clan Resolute episode will emphasize what it means to be part of a clan and what it is a clan does.

It also seems that Bungie plans to reveal details regarding their Spring update during an episode of Ride Along. They mentioned that the designers will reveal more details later on regarding things such as:

"...a significant Light increase, a bunch of new gear to earn and equip, and new challenges for PvE players seeking some more fun experiences and deployability."

For the Destiny fanatics out there, this seems like a must watch. What do you think Destiny fans? Are you gonna give Bungie's new show a go?
