Diablo 4 Moordaine Lodge Stronghold Walkthrough Guide: Location, Boss, and Rewards

Here's how to complete the Moordaine Lodge Stronghold in Diablo 4, including the boss you'll fight and its rewards.

A large swath of wild land, the Diablo 4 Moordaine Lodge Stronghold is one of the three fortresses to clear in Act 2. Less of a citadel and more giant camping site, it’s the home of a band of hunters who seem to have disappeared. And it’s your job to figure out what’s been hunting them. Our Diablo 4 Moordaine Lodge Stronghold guide goes over this location, the challenges you’ll need to complete, the boss, and the rewards you’ll get.

How to Complete the Moordaine Lodge Stronghold in Diablo 4

Diablo 4 Moordaine Lodge Stronghold Location

The Diablo 4 Moordaine Lodge Stronghold is located in Scosglen, all the way to the east. It’s above the Shrouded Moors, particularly the red, corrupted portion. I found that I had to travel quite a way from the nearest waypoint, making this an ideal time to use a mount if you’ve unlocked it. The two closest waypoints are either Tirmair or Corbach.

How to Find the Dead Hunters in Moordaine Lodge

The main objective of this Stronghold quest is to locate the dead hunters and determine what killed them. There are three hunters to find, each mauled by a different animal. Their locations are marked in the map below: one is in the northwestern portion of the Stronghold, one is in the middle, and one is in the northeastern portion.

There’s a note telling you what’s been occurring in the area on the hunter in the center of Moordaine Lodge. If you’ve completed the side quest Tending Nature, started at the Tur Dulra Stronghold once cleared, you may have an inkling about the real culprit. You’ll also be attacked by a pack of Wargs, along with two Elite enemies. The ones I faced were a Nightmare Warg and a Hellcaller Warg.

Before you head to the last hunter location, make sure your health potions are topped off. An Elixir of Lightning Resistance or a Third Eye Elixir will work for this fight. Head to your last missing hunter location and investigate the body. When complete, you’ll be attacked by the Moordaine Lodge Stronghold boss, The Beast of Moordaine.

How to Beat The Beast of Moordaine/Fionnir, the Mad Druid

Along with the Beast of Moordaine boss — who’s a giant werewolf — you’ll also be attacked by other animals like Spine Beasts. Slay those creatures as quickly as possible so you can focus on the werewolf. It will come at you with vicious attacks that you’ll want to dodge. When you’ve sufficiently injured it, it will run away to its den. Chase it down.

At its den, watch out for a surprise attack; the creature will attempt to inflict a massive amount of damage right when you enter. Once you’ve brought its health down to roughly 80%, combat pauses for a plot twist: the Beast of Moordaine is actually a Druid. Now starts Phase 2 of the fight, where you’ll face off against Fionnir, The Mad Druid.

When Fionnir appears, you’ll need to avoid various cyclones, though the move is telegraphed, and they can be avoided relatively easily. When Fionnir’s health hits roughly 40%, they’ll transform into a bear and retain their ability to cast cyclone.

This fight is a battle of attrition, coming down to who can dish out the most damage before the other yields (read: dies). Stay nimble to avoid the cyclones and inflict as much damage as quickly as possible. The longer the boss fight lasts, the more cyclones will spin around the arena, making it harder to evade.

Moordaine Lodge Stronghold Reclamation Rewards

There aren’t many Moordaine Lodge Stronghold rewards, but after beating the boss, you’ll receive:

  • Renown
  • Access to an Altar of Lilith

Unfortunately, there are no NPCs that move back in and no new quests to be found at the Stronghold. In the future this may change, but all there is is a blood-soaked hunting camp.

Moordaine Lodge Stronghold Dungeon

Like the other Strongholds in Act 1 and Act 2, Moordaine Lodge reveals two dungeons when cleared.

  • Feral’s Den: Located at the farthest northwest point in the area.
    • Rewards the Druid Legendary Aspect — Aspect of Quicksand: Damage from Earth Skills Slow enemies hit by 25% for 5 seconds.
  • Twisted Hollow: Located just south of Feral’s Den, it’s the middle end point on the western side of the area.
    • Rewards the Rogue Legendary Aspect — Shadowslicer Aspect: When you Dash, a Shadow Clone is spawned at your location that also casts Dash, dealing 25% of the Base damage.
