Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Battle Talus Fight Guide

Here's how to beat the Battle Talus boss in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

There are many different world bosses in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and the Battle Talus is one of the easier to beat once you know the trick. The strategy is essentially the same as the other Talus enemies. However, Battle Taluses are guarded by rock-throwing and bow-wielding Bokoblins. It’ll all be worth it, though, to get your hands on another Stone Talus Heart.

  • The Battle Talus has the same weakness as any other Talus in the game: the glittering ore vein on its back.
  • The catch is that every Battle Talus ore vein is nested in a Bokoblin camp on the boss’s head. There’s no way to climb up to it from below.

Thankfully, these bosses are almost always surrounded by easily climbable walls. The Talus can’t attack you at range. All it can do is swing its arms at you. It leaves ranged attacks to the Bokoblins.

Battle Talus Strategies

The next catch is if the smaller enemies hit you as you’re gliding, you’ll tumble out of the sky and waste valuable time. I am of two minds when it comes to fighting the Battle Talus.

  • Kill all the Bokoblins from range first. If you come into the fight with plenty of arrows and a few good bows, you can use slow-motion aerial aiming to take them all out. This will leave the boss all but defenseless.
  • Take on the Bokoblins Battle Talus in melee. This is my preferred strategy, but one that comes with additional annoyance. It ignores the literal Bokoblin slings and arrows, and I go straight for the boss’ weak point. Sometimes I don’t even defeat one of the minions. Instead, just start hitting the ore vein with a big weapon for big damage.

Unless you have a weapon that does more than 60 damage, don’t expect to defeat the Battle Talus in a single phase. After about a minute or so on its back, it will shake you off, dealing a quarter heart of damage. This attack also sends you flying in a random direction.

Battle Talus Fight Rewards

You’ll need to make your way onto its back as many times as it takes to take it down, but once you do, you’ll be rewarded with a +16 Stone Talus Heart to Fuse with a weapon of your choice as well as some gems to sell or Fuse as well.

Even with less-than-optimal gear, it shouldn’t take you too long to take down a Battle Talus in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. You’ll find them all over, but if you see an oddly shaped Bokoblin camp atop an out-of-place boulder, it’s liable to be one of these bosses.
