Lethal Company: How to Survive the Giant Worm

No Spice here, just massive Earth Leviathans. Here's how to survive the Giant Worm in Lethal Company.

If you’ve read or watched Dune, you’ll love (and sometimes hate) the fact that Lethal Company has its very own giant worm monster. They’re the most common newbie player killers. Here’s how to survive the giant worm in Lethal Company.

How to Escape the Earth Leviathan in Lethal Company

Known as the Earth Leviathans, the giant worms in Lethal Company are the bane of any new player who’s unaware of them or doesn’t know how to deal with them yet. While their kill count is pretty high, once you learn how to avoid them they become trivial. The main aspect is noticing them.

To survive a giant worm, you need to keep your ears open while you’re outdoors. Their approach is heralded by a rumbling sound that slowly increases in volume as they get closer to you. As soon as you hear it, immediately start running in any direction. Your movement speed is the same whether you’re moving back and forth or left and right, so sprint left, right, or backwards if you have to. Drop any heavy scrap you might have to increase your movespeed, too.

This all has to happen very quickly, if you run in one direction for a half second and the sound doesn’t start to die off, pivot to running in the opposite direction.

Dropping heavy items can save you when an Earth Leviathan is right under your heels. The extra speed will save your life and you can always come back to pick the item up later. Worms won’t surface if you outrun them, and they don’t eat scrap, so you can just pick it up after the worm has left. Don’t value scrap over your life, not even a Teleporter can recover your body if you’re swallowed. These giant worms also seem to follow players sometimes, so stay alert!

One final tip I have is that your crew operator can notice them on monitors. They appear as massive red circles. Steer clear and warn your friends or the worms will jump out of the ground and swallow any player caught in the open. And that’s how to survive the giant worm in Lethal Company.
