How to Complete the All That Money Can Buy Quest in Starfield

The Starfield All That Money Can Buy quest appears in your log after completing Back to Vectera, The Empty Nest, and Into the Unknown.

All That Money Can Buy Quest Walkthrough

As mentioned earlier, you just need to talk to Walter to start it. Walker will then follow you around, not as a full-fledged companion, but as a regular NPC. Here’s a quick summary of the objectives:

  • Go to Neon and set up a meeting to obtain an artifact.
  • Demand the artifact from Musgrove.
  • Deal with Slayton Aerospace.
  • Meet the Emissary.

The Bright Lights of Neon

To proceed with the quest, make your way to Neon, a city on Volii Alpha in the Volii system. Here’s a quick summary:

  • Go to the Stroud-Ecklund office to meet Issa, Walter’s wife. They tell you that a deal is going down, and you might obtain an artifact, too.
  • You’ll then have to talk to the general goods vendor, followed by the bartender in the Astral Lounge.
  • Tell the bartender that you need security to help out, and that you want to prevent someone from getting out of a meeting. You will need to use your Persuasion skill though.

How to Get the Artifact From Musgrove

Return to Walter and have him follow you back to the Astral Lounge. You have to talk to a man named Musgrove. Tell him that you’re “with Ramsay and Travers.”

Head to the VIP suite to begin the meeting. Musgrove wants to cut a deal with Walter, but you can handle things your way. Here’s what I suggest:

  • “Stop bluffing, we know you need to sell quickly.”
  • Remote trigger the door to close.
  • Signal Neon Security: “The security team and I have an understanding. They won’t interfere.”

Musgrove will hand over the artifact. However, as soon as you head out, a Slayton agent will demand it from you. Again, you’re given several options:

  • Persuade: “Don’t do this. Don’t die just to get a rock back.”
  • Signal Neon Security: “Security! We’re being harassed.”
  • Attack: “Swap fire with some corporate goons? My kind of day.”

I prefer using my Persuasion skills to get out of trouble. I was able to avoid any confrontation here, and I advanced to the next part of the quest.

Slayon Aerospace Encounter

This part of the Starfield All That Money Can Buy quest involves a meeting with the Slayton Aerospace boss. Unfortunately, things don’t go according to plan. Once you step foot inside the elevator, you’ll realize that Slayon set a trap for you. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Initially, the goal is to sneak past enemies in the research facility. However, I found this objective to be somewhat frustrating. As such, when I did get discovered, I just eliminated all the hostiles. Take note that scientists and office workers will also turn hostile, but they’ll run away from you since they’re all level 1.
  • Eventually, you’ll be able to reach the outside area. Follow the marker back to the other side of the facility’s interior.
  • Upon meeting Slayton, respond with: “Call off your guards, Slayton, and release my ship.”
  • Slayton will present Musgrove to you, and you can decide what to do with him. I opted to let him go. However, because I had Sarah Morgan with me, she disliked these types of responses due to her disdain for thieves and criminals.

The Emissary

In any case, after all these tasks, you’ll be able to return to your ship. As soon as you take off from Neon, you’ll be hailed by another individual: the Emissary. They want the artifact, and you have a decision to make:

  • Escape: “Full evasive maneuvers! Let’s get out of here!”
  • Jettison: “I’m going to jettison the artifact. They can have it.”
  • Attack: “I’m blasting them into space dust.”

I personally suggest escaping. You can do this by selecting another star system to jump to, such as Alpha Centauri, then allocating more power to your grav drive (GRV). After a few seconds, the grav drive should kick in, causing your ship to jump.

Jettisoning the artifact isn’t really viable, since you’ll still need to collect all artifacts as part of the main quest arc. You’ll get it later, but some companions won’t be too happy. Lastly, you can attack the Emissary, but be forewarned that they’re flying a futuristic ship that packs quite a punch. Worse, the ship will simply teleport away, so you won’t get any loot. The choice is entirely up to you.

That’s everything you need to know about how to complete All That Money Can Buy in Starfield. A couple of quick tasks will happen shortly thereafter. Later on, you’ll tackle another main mission called No Sudden Moves. For more tips and strategies, you can visit our guides hub.
