Pokemon Go account deleted? There is an account reset fix!

Your Pokemon Go account can be recovered!

With the Pokemon Go 0.31.0 update this morning that many users have been upset discovering that it appears their Pokemon Go account has been deleted. If this happens to you, you will find yourself back at the Professor after the new Terms of Service acceptance. The game takes you through the tutorial, character customization and then to pick a username.  

Now, do not go further. After the initial panic and thoughts of having to starting again and even of all the money you have potentially lost, don't worry there is a fix for those who sign in through their Google account.

Update: Niantic has released an official help post for this for iOS users. Try that before the below.

Some have suggested making sure you pick the exact username as before and you will get the game back. However this did not work for me.

Here is what did work to recover my account:

  1. In your browser sign into Google.
  2. Navigate to https://myaccount.google.com/security#connectedapps and remove the permissions for the Pokemon Go app.
  3. Delete (the hardest part) and reinstall Pokemon Go
  4. Sign in with the email associated with your Pokemon Go account.
  5. You should be in with your account recovered!

    This does not work. It keeps asking me for my trainer name. I was level 15 and had a gyrados 😭 I want to cry.

    It didn't work for my girlfriend. The problem with all the "fixes" I read online is that they all mention a "different" email login. What if it was the same one like in her case? When she was prompted to make a new character she only went as far as to catch the new starter then tried all the tips online to recover her account. Nothing worked. Anyone else got any suggestions? I've already emailed Niantic and got an automated response. This is beyond frustrating, we want our money back.
