Unlocking Thief

You unlock the Thief in Chapter 1. A quest in Ancheim will lead to Harena Ruins where you must defeat The Jackal. A Spell Fencer named Khint will join the fight.

  • During the fight, The Jackal will steal a Potion and use it throughout the fight.
  • Ignore Khint because he leaves once The Jackal’s health gets low.
  • Default for a few turns, then use up Braves to deal a lot of damage at once. Eventually you will overpower his healing.

Equipment Guide

Thieves have S aptitude for Daggers and A for Bows. They have E aptitude for armor.

Armor
  • Agility is key. Get as much agility as you can on all armor or accessories.
Weapons
  • Don’t be fooled, Bows are actually better to use for Thief than Daggers until you get Godspeed Strike at level 9.
  • When you have Godspeed Strike, equip Daggers that give you an Agility increase for maximum damage.

Ability List

The Specialty for Thieves is Master Thief.

  • Master ThiefDoubles the success rate of your stealing abilities. This does not stack with items that have a similar effect.
Level 1
  • Steal – 25% chance to steal an item from an enemy.
Level 2
  • Abate Wind – Support ability that reduces Wind damage. Does not stack with items that have a similar effect.
Level 3
  • Speed 10% Up – Support ability that raises Speed by 10%
Level 4
  • Life Thief – Deals same damage as a normal attack, but has a 75% chance to restore HP by the amount of damage dealt.
Level 5
  • Speed 20% Up – Support ability that raises Speed by 20%.
Level 6
  • Mug – Deals same damage as a normal attack, but has a 25% chance to steal an item from the target.
Level 7
  • Raid – Raises all allies’ BP by one when the party gets First Strike or gains +1 BP bonus at the start of battle.

Level 8
  • Dagger Lore – Support ability that raises aptitude for Daggers to S.
Level 9
  • Godspeed Strike – High damaging attack that only takes Speed into account. It also ignores enemy physical defense.
  • This ability is amazingly strong, but takes 2 BP to use. Don’t use if you don’t have enough BP to act next turn unless you really need to hit an enemy with it.
Level 10
  • Master Thief – Raises chance to steal by 50%.
Level 11
  • Rob Blind – Steals two items from an enemy.
Level 12
  • Shake Down – Steals an item from each enemy.

Level 14
  • Burgle and Buff – Support ability that raises Physical Attack by 25% when stealing or recovering Hp with Life thief.

Cross Job Tips

  • Ranger is great for Thieves if you use Bows. Their Slayer abilities give an extra boost of damage, though after getting Agility Daggers, you don’t need them anymore.
  • Ninja is great for their Dual-Wield ability. With this you can equip two agility daggers, without losing damage.

Special Moves

Bow
  • Level 1 – Exploit enemy weakness 5 times with physical attacks.
    • Maximum Draw: Attack one. Raises Crit Rate for all allies.
  • Level 2 – Exploit enemy weakness 10 times with physical attacks.
    • Rapid Fire: Attack one with Fire damage. Raises Hit Count for all allies.
  • Level 3 – Exploit enemy weakness 15 times with physical attacks.
    • Angelic Pillar: Attack all with Light damage. Raises Magic Defense for all allies.
Dagger

    • Infinity: Attack one. Raises Hit Count for all allies.

    • Blade Storm: Attack one. Also raises Hit Count for all allies.
  • Level 3 – Use items 15 times.
    • Cross Divide: Attack one. Also raises Hit Count for all allies.

Combat Tips

  • Thieves have a good chance to steal items. After getting Rob Blind and Shake Down, you can steal a lot at once.
  • Shake Down uses an extra BP, so make sure you have enough before using. You can make a lot of money this way from selling what you steal.
  • Their increased Speed makes Godspeed Strike hit very hard, so they have decent attack as well.
