How to Turn Off Auto Brake in Gran Turismo 7

Auto brake, or self-brake as it’s also called, occurs when Gran Turismo 7 automatically applies brakes when it sees fit. This usually happens when you’re going too fast before a sharp turn and the auto brake is needed to keep you on track.

Gran Turismo 7 offers a wide range of assists, including auto braking and steering, which can be toggled on or off at any point before starting a new race. To disable auto brake, pick any race from the world map, and go through the different pre-race screens until you reach the final one.

From the final race screen, click on Settings instead of starting the race. This will bring up a drop-down menu where you must select Assist Settings.

Another drop-down menu will now pop up, showing all of the different assist settings that you can tweak and customize. To completely disable auto brake, scroll down until you reach Auto-Drive and select off. This will fully disable the auto brake and steering assist, giving you full control over your car’s movement.

Your settings, including that for auto brake, will be automatically saved for all other races and missions, so this process has to be done only once. When driving your next race, you should notice a huge difference in how your car reacts before making sharp turns.

If you’ve been relying heavily on auto brake, you’ll likely have a more difficult time staying on the track at first. While driving with assists off can make things much more challenging, it is still one of the best ways to become a more skilled racer in the long run.
