Pokemon GO: How to Beat Regidrago — Attacks, Counters, Weaknesses

Regidrago is making the rounds in Raids again. Here's how to beat it.

If you missed Regidrago the first time it appeared in Pokemon GO, you’ve got a second chance. Showing up in Raids for a limited time, you can face off against it in an effort to add it to your collection. Or maybe you’re seeing a lot of it in the Battle League and are looking for a strategy to beat it. Either way, you’re in the right place. Here’s how to beat Regidrago, with its attacks, counters, and weaknesses listed.

How to Beat Regidrago in Pokemon GO: Attacks, Counters, Weaknesses

Regidrago Attacks

Regidrago has a single Fast Attack, meaning that no matter what, you’ll get hit with the Dark type move Bite. While it only has one Fast Attack, there are three potential Charged Attacks you can see when fighting it in a raid:

  • Hyper Beam (Normal)
  • Dragon Pulse (Dragon)
  • Outrage (Dragon)

If you’re facing this adversary in the Battle League, chances are it will have Outrage as its Charge Attack. That does the most damage due to the extra STAB damage.

Regidrago Weaknesses

As a pure Dragon type Pokemon, Regidrago is weak to:

  • Dragon
  • Fairy
  • Ice

They all deal the same amount of increased damage, with none of them hitting any special vulnerabilities. Since Dragons are weak to Dragon type moves, it seems counterintuitive to bring one into the fight. If you can bring a Legendary Dragon, it may not matter.

However, taking a Pokemon that can use a Dragon move without being Dragon type. Though it loses STAB, it could be the better play depending on the rest of your team composition. I personally skip Dragon type Pokemon completely, choosing to build my team with Fairy and Ice Pokemon.

Best Regidrago Counters

For those wanting to include a Dragon on the team, the best ones are:

  • Black Kyurem: Dragon Tail, Outrage, Blizzard
  • Palkia: Dragon Tail, Draco Meteor

For Ice and Fairy type Pokemon, the best choices are:

  • Galarian Zen Darmanitan: Ice Fang, Avalanche, Ice Punch
  • Crowned Sword Zacian: Quick Attack, Snarl, Play Rough
  • Mamoswine: Powder Snow, Avalanche
  • Gardevoir: Charm, Dazzling Gleam

If you don’t have any of the above Pokemon, just focus on bringing your highest CP Ice, Fairy or Dragon Pokemon to the fight.
