How to Beat Cresselia in Pokemon GO

Like every Pokemon that shows up in 5-Star Raids, this Cresselia is a little different from other games. It’s still a Psychic Pokemon, though. It just has some variations in moves.

Cresselia Attacks

Cresselia has two Psychic type Fast Attacks that it can use in a Raid.

  • Psycho Cut
  • Confusion

There’s a bit more type diversity in its Charged Attack pool. For Raids, there’s a total of three moves it can pull from.

  • Aurora Beam (Ice)
  • Future Sight (Physic)
  • Moonblast (Fairy)

If you’re facing Cresselia in the Battle League, it can also have Grass Knot (Grass), which it learns through an Elite TM.

Primary Weaknesses

As a Psychic type, Cresselia is weak to:

  • Bug
  • Dark
  • Ghost

All three weakness deal the same increased damage, with it having no vulnerabilities.

Cresselia will have a Psychic move guaranteed for its Fast Attack, so you don’t want to bring in Fighting or Poison Pokemon. Since Poison and Fighting types are weak to Psychic, they’ll get decimated in this fight. Other Psychic Pokemon can also sit this one out as they deal reduced damage.

Best Cresselia Counters in Pokemon GO

You want to take care if including Bug Pokemon on your team. Since a lot of Bug types are also Poison types, they will still be weak to Psychic. Though they can inflict large amounts of damage with Bug attacks boosted by the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB), their weakness may cause them to faint before you can really take advantage of that.

Here are the best counters when planning to join a Cresselia Raid.

  • Phermosa: Bug Bite, Bug Buzz
  • Gengar: Lick, Shadow Claw, Shadow Ball
  • Chandelure: Hex, Shadow Ball
  • Darkrai: Snarl, Shadow Ball
  • Volcarona: Bug Bite, Bug Buzz

If you don’t have any of the above Pokemon or they’re not powered up, you should choose your highest CP Bug, Dark, or Ghost Pokemon.
