Minecraft: How to Breed Armadillos

Here’s how to breed Armadillos in Minecraft:

  1. Find two adult Armadillos in their biomes.
  2. Drop Spider Eyes from your hotbar onto each Armadillo.
  3. Wait for a baby Armadillo to spawn.

If done correctly, you’ll see hearts appear above both Armadillo, meaning they have entered breeding mode. Once this process begins wait a moment and a baby Armadillo will spawn next to its parents. After that, your newly spawned baby Armadillo will take a few minutes to mature to adult status. However, you can feed it additional Spider Eyes to speed up its growth. Finally, the adult Armadillos that you just bread will have a small cooldown before you can bread them again.

What do Armadillos Eat in Minecraft?

As mentioned above, Armadillos eat Spider Eyes. While this is a surprising choice for a meal, you can quickly obtain many of them. The best way to get Spider Eyes in Minecraft is to wait until nighttime and slay nearby spiders. You can also find Spider Eyes by slaying witches or looting chests in pyramids in desert biomes.

Now that you know how to breed Armadillos in Minecraft and how to find their favorite snack, you’ll be on your way to having more Armadillos than what you know to do with them. Check out our Minecraft hub for more guides like How to Make Wolf Armor with all those Armadillo Scutes you now have.
