The Smite World Championship (or SWC) is bringing the top eight teams from around the world to compete this weekend. This championship is being held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia with a prize pool of $2,581,056 (Yes, you read that correctly).
Leading up to the event, Hi-Rez released The Odyssey, where fans can purchase exclusive in-game items and help contribute to the prize pot. After 20 weeks, the prize pool has surprassed $2.5 million and has become the third highest e-sports prize pool.
The teams competing for the championship are Cognitive Red (North America), Cognitive Prime (North America), Titan (Europe), SK Gaming (Europe), Oh My God (China), DID (China), Name Not Found (Latin America), and We Love Bacon (Latin America).
The tournament will run January 9th – 11th, with the first match starting on Friday at 11:30 am EST.
The SWC is also hosting a Smite Cosplay Contest over the weekend with a prize pool of $5000. The top judged male and female cosplayers will each win $2500.
If you can’t make it to Atlanta, there are still plenty of places you can watch the championship online.
Twitch
As always, Twitch is a great go-to for watching eSports events. Smite has an official channel that will be streaming the event all weekend long. Watching the event is free on Twitch, however, fans can subscribe for a SWC digital pass and will recieve the 2015 Tyr Convention God Skin, SWC Ares God Skin, SWC Ward Skin, and access to the subscriber-only chat during the championship.
