But how do you access The Frozen Wilds‘ new questline and DLC weapons and gear? Whether you’re a new player or HZD veteran, this quick guide will go over the steps you need to take to get started right away.

How to Start The Frozen Wilds DLC

If you’ve already completed the “Seeker at the Gates” quest from HZD‘s base game and downloaded The Frozen Wilds, you’ll notice there aren’t any new quest indicators on the map once you boot up your save. The only new thing you’ll see is a greyed out area in the map’s northern reaches. But even if you venture to that area of the map, you won’t be able to access the DLC until you’ve spoken to one of three quest givers: Yariki, Rhavid, or Ohtur.

Here are their locations:

  • Yariki: This quest giver can be found south of The Frozen Wilds‘ newest area, The Cut, and north of the Grave Hoard.
  • Rhavid: This quest giver can be found near the forest southeast of Meridian.
  • Ohtur: This quest giver can be found at Daytower.

Once you speak to one of these quest givers (not all three), you’ll be given the “Into the Frozen Wilds” quest, which will give you access to The Cut (the grey area of the map). This area is guarded by a ferocious robot bear boss that requires players be at least level 30 to defeat, so make sure you’re well prepared before venturing into the great wilds of the north.

That’s all you need to know about access The Cut and getting started with Horizon: Zero Dawn‘s newest DLC. If you’re looking for more tips, tricks, and strategies for The Frozen Wild, be sure to check out our other Horizon: Zero Dawn guides
