Warm Ocean Ruins were finally given more use in Minecraft 1.20 through the addition of archaeology. When you spawn into this Desert, you’ll be next to a giant Warm Ocean with an expansive Coral Reef and plenty of Warm Ocean Ruins. There are three Warm Ocean Ruin clusters between the continent’s shore and a small Desert island, a few single ruins between those, and even more clusters to the southeast. I recommend visiting the Desert Village on the mainland first to loot a Blacksmith for some iron gear.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Desert Village: -548, 188
Warm Ocean Ruin Cluster 1: -249, 40
Warm Ocean Ruin Cluster 2: 74, -280

  • Version: Java
  • Spawn: -2, -74
  • Biomes: Dark Forest, Lush Cave

Here’s a truly unique seed that spawns you between a Woodland Mansion and a giantic ravine. The Woodland Mansion is in a canyon, causing part of it to generate into the walls of the ravine. This makes the Mansion much easier to take on since you can climb onto the roof and use its windows to enter specific rooms. If you choose to enter the ravine, you’ll find that it’s home to both a Lush Cave and an Ancient City.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Lush Cave ravine: -5, -100

You’ll also find a few more chests beneath the beaches east of the Mansion and the Stony Shores to the south.

Plains Villages are abundant in this Minecraft world. You’ll spawn between two with another pair of villages to the north and various other villages scattered around the east and the south. Separated island villages

Two Plains Villages make their home on this survival island. It’s likely that they were built so far apart because of disagreements between the villagers, but each provides materials necessary for survival. Make peace between the villagers and combine their towns to live a comfortable island life. The main continent is close to the island if you ever tire of this seed’s ocean view.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Plains Village 1: 790, -361
Plains Village 2: 1,169, -470

Taiga Village’s Mansion

  • Seed: 36674918975
  • Version: Java
  • Spawn: -4, -6
  • Biomes: Taiga, Meadow

This Woodland Mansion was generated at the tip of a Dark Forest by Spawn, causing it to merge with a Taiga Village. On first glance, the village seems to have been built around the Mansion. However, exploring the Mansion reveals that parts of the town have developed inside of the Mansion, making for a truly unique experience. Players exploring deeper into the Taiga biome will find Trail Ruins and an ocean with Cold Ocean Ruins.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Taiga Village: -10, 36
Woodland Mansion: 20, 31
Trail Ruins: 323, 287

Hilltop ruins

One fun and creative way to play with the Trail Ruins added in Minecraft 1.20 is to fully excavate them so they can be seen from the surface. Since this ruin structure is on top of a hill, it will be much easier and safer to excavate than ruins that extend deep into the ground. Next to Spawn and the Trail Ruins is a ruined Nether portal. The portal’s chest contains a few obsidian, so all you need to do is collect one additional obsidian block and a flint-and-steel to repair it.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether portal: 3, 65
Trail Ruins: 62, 95

Additionally, you’ll have access to two Trail Ruins for even more loot.

A small survival island with a village and guaranteed ocean structures is perfect for beginners to Minecraft island survival. The village guarantees immediate access to food and a bed, so you won’t have to worry about Phantoms or starvation. Additionally, you won’t be bored because you’ll have a variety of structures to explore and excavate around the islands. If you find yourself running out of room, you may want to check out the empty island to the west of the one at Spawn.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Plains Village: 4, 27
Shipwreck: -221, -288
Large Warm Ocean Ruin Cluster: 152, -271
Ocean Monument: 126, -289

Plains Village in Woodland Mansion

Screenshot by Gameskinny

Here’s one of the funniest glitches you’ll ever find in Minecraft. Instead of a front door, this Woodland Mansion has a villager’s home at its front entrance. Fortunately, the villagers are friendly ones. To access the Mansion, either climb onto the roof or mine through the villager’s home. Make sure to add an extra door to help keep the mobs out if you do the latter.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Plains Village: 244, 364
Woodland Mansion: 260, 370

Exposed Zombie Dungeon

  • Seed: -1983561649
  • Version: Java
  • Spawn: -10, -5
  • Biomes: Plains

At first sight, there isn’t a lot going on in this seed. However, by traveling to the southwest and peeking into a shallow cave, you’ll find an exposed Zombie Spawner near the surface. Your best options are to either take on the spawner head-on with a weapon and torches or dig up the dirt above the surface to fully expose the spawner to the sun. It has pretty good loot with two chests containing some name tags, a music disc, and a few other goodies.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Exposed Zombie Dungeon: -162, 61, 144

Nether Portal inside of a Woodland Mansion

This amusing glitch will cost you an entire Woodland Mansion that stands at Spawn. A ruined Nether Portal has generated inside of it with enough lava to set the Mansion on fire. For better or for worse, it’ll burn down unless you can get rid of the lava and put out any set fires. Luckily, chests are non-flammable in Minecraft so you’ll be able to gather the Mansion’s loot either way.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Woodland Mansion: 14, -1
Ruined Nether portal: -2, 4

Drowned Nether portal

If you ever wanted to see the Drowned making an attempt at traveling into the Nether, here’s your chance. The ruined Nether portal next to the ocean southeast of Spawn has been combined with part of a Cold Ocean Ruin cluster. Drowned spawn frequently over here, so fixing up this Nether portal makes it likely that some of them will travel there. There is a village with a pool of lava on the beach by this portal if you find yourself in need of supplies.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether portal: 308, 88
Plains Village: 180, 70
