How to Fly in Minecraft

There are two ways to fly in Minecraft. One is probably the easiest but the other is a lot more taxing however if you want achievements it could be worth it. Let us explain.

Minecraft: Flying in Creative Mode

Flying in creative is the easiest way to fly in Minecraft. All you’d need to do is hop into the settings menu of your pause screen. Then you’ll change the settings on your Minecraft world and make it creative.

After closing the menu all you’d need to do is double tap your spacebar to fly. When in the air you can double tap W to fly forward faster. When you switch back to survival mode you can’t fly anymore unless you use the second method.

Minecraft: Flying in Survival Mode

Survival mode flying is a bit more complicated. True you could hack it into your world or you can find the Elytra Wings!

The Elytra Wings are basically Minecraft’s wing gliders.

Elytra wings can be found in End Ships guarded by shulkers. You equip them by putting them in the chestplate slot. After that you can jump from high areas and hold the jump button to glide your way down to the ground.

The controls are similar to hang-gliders. You can increase your speed when flying if you lean forward and then lean up to increase altitude.

You can also increase altitude if you use a firework while airborne. This will shoot you up similar to the trajectory of fireworks.

Like any piece of equipment in Minecraft you can add an enchantment to the Elytra Wings. Adding the Mending enchantment to the wings can ensure that they wont break as it will continuously siphon EXP to repair itself. Pair that with the Unbreaking enchantment and you’ll have those wings for eternity.

Now that’s how you can fly around in both modes of Minecraft. If you’re looking for more tips and tricks check out our other Minecraft guides. Or look into the seeds that we have as well only on GameSkinny.
