The franchise’s first attempt at traditional survival horror has intense resource management and combat, and while all of its marketing materials showcase a revolver, it isn’t the only firearm to pick up. Our guide will tell you how to get the shotgun — a deadly primary weapon — in Amnesia: The Bunker.
Where to Find the Shotgun in Amnesia: The Bunker
The Shotgun in Amnesia: The Bunker can’t be acquired until you find the Unstable Soldier in the tunnels. This location can be found after you’ve visited the Arsenal section of the bunker in search of the Detonator Handle. You’ll need to hide from the Old Man in the tunnels near the area’s breakable wooden door to kill the Soldier for this weapon. Below, we go into greater detail about how to find it.
How to Get the Detonator Handle
The Detonator Handle is in the tunnels past the Arsenal’s storage area, which is initially flooded. You’ll need to first flip the switch in the back corner of the storage area by wading through the water, then turn on the generator at the Administration Office.
With the generator back on, return to the Arsenal’s flooded room. With the power on, you can now interact with the pump just before stepping into the water. Doing so drains the entire room, letting you proceed to the tunnels.
Amnesia: The Bunker Shotgun Location
After a bit of walking, you’ll find yourself in an eerie room covered in a thick mist, with a soldier roaming around shouting at you. You can only progress through this area by breaking open the wooden door here, which requires either a grenade or throwing some bricks into it (which are lying around the immediate area). Normally, this is when you could sprint through the door and avoid confronting the old man.
However, you’ll need to hide from the Old Man and kill the Unstable Soldier to nab the Shotgun in Amnesia: The Bunker. When I picked up the Shotgun, I made noise by breaking the door, which I found gave me the advantage — and the time to find some crates or a nearby wall to hide behind.
Listen carefully to the soldier’s footsteps to make sure he’s not creeping up behind you, then fire two shots with the revolver to kill him. Alternatively, I’ve tested grenades and petrol bombs, which also work. Once he’s dead, you can take the Shotgun from his body.
