Battlefield 4 lag has been plauging many BF4 players. At launch the game was nearly unplayable with Sub 1 FPS performance. Essentially, the frame rate was almost identical to that of the promotional image I used for this article: Nice looking, but motionless.
If you are still encountering these issues with an NVIDIA system, then GeForce Driver 331.65 comes to the rescue. On my machine, with a GeForce 760, i7 and 8 GB of ram, the performance went from completely unplayable to smooth as butter after a download, update, and reboot.

In addition AMD has made an update to their drivers as of October 30th that has been reported to improve performance for AMD cards. It be downloaded on the AMD site.
Other Types of Crashes and Fixes
None of these are a sure thing, but they may help!
- XFire has compatibility issues in Windows 8. Try disabling XFire.
- Windowed mode helps some people.
- Update your DirectX – there is a file in the Battlefield 4 folder to do this.
- Disabling anti-virus is reported to help many types of crashes.
- Reinstalling the browser plugin for the game sometimes helps.
