Help Leon and Ashley get through the Courtyard Maze Puzzle in Resident Evil 4 Remake with this guide.

The RE4 Courtyard Maze Puzzle is just one of many you’ll solve while playing through the survival-horror game remake. You’ll come across it when Ashley and Leon are reunited, and it can be a bit of a headscratcher if you don’t know what to look for. It doesn’t help that wolves and cultists stand in your way.

How to Solve the RE4 Remake Courtyard Puzzle

Prior to the Resident Evil 4 Remake Courtyard Puzzle, Leon and Ashley will be in a quaint reception room that has a save point. Once you go outside, you’ll notice tall hedges that block your view, as well as narrow paths that you need to navigate.

Your goal here is to interact with all parapet levers, bringing down the flags and allowing you to exit via the Grand Hall. You can refer to the map below for a more detail view:

From the starting point of the Resident Evil 4 Remake Courtyard Maze Puzzle, go:

  • Northwest
  • North
  • Southeast

You should stumble upon some goodies, such as a Clockwork Castellan (CC), a Treasure that you can sell, and the first parapet lever.

From there, unlock the gate and make your way to the second parapet lever near the center of the Courtyard, which is close to the main steps leading to the Grand Hall.

Be sure to watch out for infected wolves while performing these tasks. Some are roaming around, while others will escape from cages. Be forewarned that they can leap through hedges to surprise you.

Next, head to the southwestern corner of the area to find another switch (the star icon on the map above). Ashley will interact with this lever. This lets you walk up the nearby steps that lead to the third and final lever.

Be prepared for a hectic moment here, as cultists will spawn and beeline for Ashley. Quickly navigate through the hedgerows to get back to her. You can use your knife for backstab kills in case cultists have picked her up, or use shotgun blasts to make quick work of hostiles.

In any case, you’ve learned how to solve the Resident Evil 4 Remake Courtyard Maze Puzzle. All that’s left is to get past the cultists and make a break for the double doors that lead to the Grand Hall and the Dining Hall Puzzle beyond.
