Exclusive upgrades aren’t just for fun in the Resident Evil 4 remake‘s Hardcore and Professional difficulties. You don’t have to think too hard about it on Assisted or Standard, you go with what you like, but you’ll have to give exclusive upgrades some thought on the RE4‘s two highest difficulties.
Choosing the right and the wrong exclusive upgrades for a run on Professional difficulty is like night and day in the Resident Evil 4 remake. The amount of Pesetas you need to fully upgrade a gun is a huge investment, and so is the alternate chunk of Spinels for an Exclusive Upgrade Ticket at the Merchant. Your choice on which guns (or knives) to grant an exclusive upgrade to matters.
How to Unlock Exclusive Upgrades in the Resident Evil 4 Remake
This is a little obvious and was briefly mentioned above, but we’re going to mention it again. There are two (sort of three) ways in RE4 to unlock exclusive upgrades for your weapons:
- Fully upgrade a gun to unlock its exclusive upgrade slot.
- Buy an Exclusive Upgrade Ticket from the Merchant for 30 Spinels.
- Capcom also recently added the ability to buy Exclusive Upgrade Tickets as microtransactions, so that’s something.
Getting 30 Spinels isn’t easy, and neither is racking up the cash to fully upgrade a gun to gain access to its exclusive upgrade. The exclusive upgrades themselves aren’t cheap either! You’ll have to spend a pretty penny to finally use even one.
The main benefit to buying the Exclusive Upgrade Ticket with Spinels is to gain access to a weapon’s exclusive upgrade far earlier in the game than you’d be able to otherwise. It’s worth the investment either way, but the ticket may be the best course of action to make the Resident Evil 4 remake easier overall.
