Both of Genshin Impact‘s main regions have local specialties, some used for crafting and others for character ascensions. The Philanemo Mushroom is one such item, but it’s not as elusive as it seems.
The Philanemo Mushroom is used in the ascension of either Barbara or Klee, and Barbara is temporarily being offered for free to players who reach Adventure Rank 20 before Genshin Impact‘s 1.1 patch. You absolutely want to reach that level to add this Hydro support character to your lineup.
Luckily, Philanemo Mushrooms aren’t all that hard to come by and Barbara’s first ascension only requires three of them. Each subsequent ascension requires increasing amounts, with the sixth and final one requiring a full 60 mushrooms.
You will need a total of 168 Philanemo Mushrooms to fully ascend her, though you obviously don’t need them in short order.
How to Get Philanemo Mushrooms in Genshin Impact
There are two methods for obtaining Philanemo Mushrooms.
The first is to seek them out to gather manually, which is going to be your primary source of these mushrooms through the game.
I’ve marked a few locations I’ve noticed in the map below. They are found under the eaves of houses in these and other areas, and shouldn’t be too hard to find.
The second method is to buy them from an NPC named Chloris, who can be found walking along the road on the northern side of Windrise. Her whereabouts are marked on the map below.
Chloris only has five Philanemo Mushrooms in stock, and she replenishes her stock every few days. Each Philanemo Mushroom from her costs 1,000 Mora, so it’s best to gather them rather than buy from her.
That’s all you really need to know about obtaining these local specialties, as their use is solely to ascend Barbara or Klee.
