Pokemon Sword and Shield Curry Guide
Pokemon Sword and Shield curry cooking is more than just a simple mini-game. Curry in Sword and Shield brings with it an array of benefits depending on the type you make.
While making curry is fairly simple on the surface, it's important because it has many uses, such as restoring HP, improving friendship ratings, and removing status effects.
There are some tips and tricks to keep in mind to make the best curries and fill up the Curry Dex. This Pokemon Sword and Shield curry guide fills you in.
How to Make Curry in Pokemon Sword and Shield
You can start making curry as soon as you enter the Wild Area — the first time and Sonia gives you the camping gear. From there, you'll need Berries and curry ingredients.
You'll have to complete the cooking mini-game to do so. Pro-tip: fan the flames a lot. After that, your creation is assigned one of five ranks, each with its own set of effects.
Koffin Class (1 Star)
Get 1 Star to get this class. It heals 25% HP. It also gives a small EXP boost and a small friendship boost.
Wobbuffet Class (2 Stars)
Get 2 Stars to get this class. It Heals 50% HP. It also gives a slightly bigger EXP boost and increases friendship.
Milcery Class (3 Stars)
Get 3 Stars to get this class. It completely heals HP, removes status effects, doubles the EXP boost from Wobbuffet class, and increases friendship even more
Copperjah Class (4 Stars)
Get 4 Stars to get this class. It completely restores HP and PP, removes status effects, doubles EXP boost from Milcery class, and offers a substantial friendship boost.
Charizard Class (5 Stars)
Get 5 Stars to get this class. It completely restores HP and PP, removes status effects, doubles EXP boost from Copperjah class, and offers a huge friendship boost.
The game doesn't clue you in on how to achieve the higher ranks.
Technically, you can make curry with as few as two Berries, but you won't get much higher than Wobbuffet Class that way. You'll actually need to fill up the cutting board, which means using 10 Berries. However, there's a catch here too.
Using common Berries also won't net you the best results. You'll want to find rare Berries — or ones with stronger tastes ("very spicy" for example) to throw in the mix. It doesn't seem like you need to have all 10 rare Berries, but the more the better.
There are also size variations to what you make. If your lead Pokemon is very large, you'll get a large curry. Super small Pokemon result in smaller curry. It doesn't seem as if the size variations for each are required to fill out the Curry Dex, though.

How to Farm Berries in Sword and Shield
You find berries everywhere in Sword and Shield. There's at least one Berry Tree on every route, plus a ton of them scattered about in the Wild Area.
You can farm the basic ones, like Oran and Cheri, from the Berry Merchant in Wedgehurst, though those won't let you make the best curries.
What you get from a Berry Tree is completely random in type and quantity. There's always a chance you'll have a Skwovet fall on your head and steal your Berries. Still, it's the only way to get the best Berries.
Finally, rarer Berries with stronger flavors are more often found in out of the way areas, like the island in the Axew's Eye Lake. Some of these require the Rotom Bike upgrade that lets you ride on water, which you won't be able to pick up until Route 9.
Where to Find Curry Ingredients
You also need curry ingredients on top of Berries. We have a full curry ingredients list below, but these range from things like Brittle Bones to a Tin of Beans and even Fried Food.
You might come across some of these as hidden (sparkly) items on the ground in the Wild Area, but for the most part, you'll need to buy curry ingredients from Watt Vendors in the Wild Area.
Like everything else these Vendors offer, the selection is random, as is the Vendor location.
However, you can typically expect to find a Watt Vendor with curry ingredients near the edge of the lake (enter the Wild Area near the train station and just go straight).

Last Curry Recipe: Gigantamax Curry
After you've cooked all those, there's still one more curry recipe to whip up: Gigantamax Curry. You can only do this with Gigantamix and 10 Berries of differing flavors, and Gigantamix comes as a potential reward for completing a PokeJob.
There doesn't seem to be any specific Job that offers this as a reward, so just try to prioritize PokeJobs with higher star ratings, and make sure you're sending out Pokemon that meet the specified requirements.
Your Reward for Completing the Curry Dex
Now that you've finally completed the Curry Dex, what do you get? Well, it's sort of a mixed bag, the Pokemon version of finding all the Boos in Luigi's Mansion 3.
You get a set of gold curry cooking utensils you can use at any time. That's great — but you've also already made every kind of curry at least once. Still, it's something.
That's all you need to know to make the best curry in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Be sure to check out our other Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield guides for more tips to make you the best trainer in Galar.
