What were you hoping to see at this year's edition of the E3 extravagnaza, and do you agree with our picks of what was most conspicuously missing?

\n

There was plenty of interesting material covered however, with more than enough to tide over fans until the next wave of big announcements hit.

\n

If you missed any of the E3 2016 reveals, be sure to check out our (highly scientific) rundown of the best games revealed at this year's expo.

System Shock 3

\n

It should go without saying that this hallowed sci-fi / horror series that inspired by mighty Bioshock is more than a little anticipated by fans.

\n

We know for a fact this one is actually happening – closing in on two decades after the previous game – but the question mark is when and what it will look like.

\n

E3 would have been a great place to absolutely steal the show, but it wasn't to be. Maybe next year?

Shadow Of Mordor sequel

\n

The game-changing mechanics on this Peter Jackson-inspired trek into the Lord Of The Rings lore had me absolutely hooked, sinking an absurd number of hours into completing every last dagger, sword, and bow legend while taking on more orcs than any army ever could.

\n

There's an addicting quality here that keeps players coming back to nab those final diabolical achievements (and by the way, somehow after 100 hours I STILL haven't gotten the White Rider achievement).

\n

Since then it's been a nail-biting wait to see if we'll get a sequel, either continuing the story or (even better) going in some new direction. Part 2 wouldn't have to feature the same characters or even take place in the same area – Middle Earth is huge, and even Mordor itself has lots of unexplored territory. While there's tons of love about the original, some upgrades wouldn't hurt either – particularly in the final boss battle department.

\n

Unfortunately nothing concrete landed at E3 this year, so its likely going to be months at the least before an announcement comes, if indeed a sequel is even being developed at this point.

Metroid

\n

So we did get a Zelda reveal, and that's nothing to sneeze at with how massively behind Nintendo has been to everyone else lately, but a serious Metroid definitely would have done wonders for a flagging fan base.

\n

Other than the impending Federation Force, a title that completely changes the gameplay and even had fans launching a petition for cancellation, there hasn't been a major Metroid entry in years, with the Wii U getting mostly skipped over. Hopefully a new and worthy successor will launch with the NX?

Devil May Cry

\n

After the reboot DmC back in 2013, it was unclear where the series would go, and whether we'd get a Devil May Cry 5 or something else. Either way, fans will have to wait a little longer for news on this game that isn't even officially acknowledged yet.

\n

Rumors continue to circulate this is the year we get a definite answer and some news, but alas, it wasn't to be at E3. Maybe sometime around the holiday buying frenzy we'll get some screenshots?

Dead Island 2

\n

Although it made our list of most anticipated horror-themed games slated for release this year, its time to finally accept the reality of the situation: this game is never coming. The E3 absence seems to pretty well confirm that sad fact.

\n

The first trailer for this game came out more than two years ago, and in that time it has passed hands between developers multiple times, had release dates come and go, and even been officially removed from the Steam store. R.I.P. Dead Island 2.

Kingdom Hearts III

\n

Another title everyone wants that never seems to have enough info to spare, the absence of Kingdom Hearts III is actually understandable this time around due to the upcoming release of the oddly named Kingdom Hearts 2.8 later this year.

\n

Still, we want to see more of what to expect from this massively-anticipated cutesy RPG, so get it on it already Square Enix!

Red Dead Redemption 2

\n

This is another title that people were all but guaranteeing would appear this year at E3 but somehow either got culled from the lineup... or was never planned to be announced at all and fans just ran with a rumor.

\n

That same rumor mill is running rampant that news of the release is being delayed in respect for the victims of the recent Orlando shooting at Pulse due to the game's content, but there's been no official statement to that effect from anyone at Take Two or Rockstar.

Nintendo NX

\n

While this wasn't unexpected – Nintendo did say we shouldn't have our hopes up for an E3 announcement – it does seem like a misstep to not start getting the hype train rolling for the NX.

\n

Considering how the Wii U is essentially dead in the water and an absolute non-entity at this point in the console cycle, the NX needs an absolutely overpowering campaign of force to break out and overtake the PS4 and Xbox One, especially with both of those consoles about to get updated “.5” versions.

\n

It's a shame the Wii U never got the traction (or the game catalog) it deserved, as that controller setup is actually really fun - especially with games like Rayman where the player on the GamePad controller has a very different experience.

\n

When do you think Nintendo is finally going to get serious about the NX news, and do you think it will be able to compete?

The Last Of Us 2

\n

I don't feel out of line in saying this must have been the most anticipated game that everyone expected to make an E3 appearance this year. Several sites even went so far as to announce news that the game would be officially confirmed at the expo when some info from Naughty Dog supposedly “leaked.”

\n

Yet for all the hype and certainty, the follow-up to this emotionally devastating post-apocalyptic game was nowhere to be found. Fans were particularly on board at this point in time, with an Easter egg in Uncharted 4 indicating a Last Of Us 2 should be inbound any time now.

\n

Whether a prequel, sequel, or something else entirely, its safe to say fans want to see this made, and they want it sooner rather than later.

The smoke has finally cleared: E3 is over, and all the biggest game development news has officially arrived that is going to arrive for the next few months.

\n

There's no question we saw some amazing upcoming titles at this year's edition of the annual gaming mecca, from the first official look at the upcoming mythology-swapping God Of War to a new Zelda entry, a surprising change of pace with Resident Evil, and even some new footage on the delayed-but-not-forgotten Horizon: Zero Dawn.

\n

For all that gaming goodness, we couldn't help but notice the conspicuous absence of some major series that didn't appear during the festivities.

\n

Whether oversight, purposeful tactical choice, or just a timing issue as development drags on, these eight games (and one piece of hardware) all feel like they should have been prominently displayed at E3 2016.

Dead Island 2 Stumbles Off Steam https://www.gameskinny.com/7s07a/dead-island-2-stumbles-off-steam https://www.gameskinny.com/7s07a/dead-island-2-stumbles-off-steam Tue, 31 May 2016 10:38:37 -0400 Jordan DiPirro

After a disappearance from the Steam store, it looks like Dead Island 2 might be dead in the water.

Dead Island 2 was announced at E3 2014 with a trailer for the game. The sequel’s release date was assumed to be in 2015. Then after a long period of no news, Deep Silver announced that developer Yager was no longer part of the project. Yager worked almost three years on the project before splitting due to conflicting visions. They then announced Sumo Digital as the replacement developer.

The game has been surrounded with rumors of cancellation -- which all seemed confirmed when the Dead Island 2 Steam page was removed. The game title was removed, along with relevant tags and a store description. It’s now referred to as “Unknown App 268150.” There still isn’t a new page to replace it.

However, the game’s Steam database entry is still there, which keeps a record of the changes. Some speculate that this could mean that the sequel is still far away. This would make sense, seeing as how the game had to change visions after Yager’s removal. However, others believe that this is the sign that the game has been cancelled. Either way, we will have to stay tuned to see the final results.

There are some horror games originally slated for the end of the year that haven't nailed down an official release date yet. Although not confirmed, these are likely to land in 2016. Of particular note is Clocktower reboot Project Scissors: NightCry, which takes place on a cruise liner as a ghostly creature with giant shears chases you down the ship's corridors.

\n

Although never as prolific as fast-paced shooters, real-time strategy or even RPGs, there's still some very high quality horror titles coming down the pipe in 2016. These 11 games are the most likely to illicit screams from us in the dark while we play with headphones on and the lights off, but we also want to know your most anticipated horror title of 2016! Tell us what we missed and what you thought of our picks.

Routine

\n

Set on an abandoned moon base, Routine will evoke the loneliness of space as an astronaut explores the derelict facility and tries to find out just what exactly happened. It's a good bet you'll get chased by something awful, and have to find interesting ways to overcome the dangers of the vacuum of space.

\n

If you liked Alien: Isolation, this one will scratch the same itch, but hopefully with less frustrating difficulty. With any luck it will be scarier than that found footage flick about evil moon rocks.

Silent Hills may be devastatingly dead, but fans took the creepy themes from the game's playable trailer and decided to run with them, creating a whole new game based on the concept of a closed home environment that changes subtly during play.

The Walking Dead

\n

It's time to find out if someone other than Telltale Games can do justice to The Walking Dead. Going to a first person setting, the game aims to capture the dread of living in a post-apocalyptic world on PS4, Xbox One and PC in late 2016, with a VR capable version also planned for later release.

There's not a ton of concrete info on this one yet, although the developer has stated there will be stealth and RPG elements woven into the first person action as well.

Dead Island 2

\n

This has been an ill-fated game, not only getting delayed but even changing developers part way through. The sequel to the original Dead Island will take place in California, with a reportedly larger and more vibrant area to explore while hacking apart zombie limbs and blowing off their heads.

Although this is clearly going to be more action-oriented fun than a legitimately scary experience, anything with hordes of zombies is usually going to be a good time.

Last Year: The Nightmare

\n

You might be doing a double take looking at the last slide and then continuing on to this one. That's because it's literally the same idea about the same characters – just without the name Jason Vorhees. Just which one was announced and in development first is a point of contention for the developers behind both games, who have unfortunately been feuding.

\n

There's been cease and desists, canceled and reactivated crowd funding campaigns, redesigned enemies without hockey masks and a whole lot of online bluster. The status of the game is actually a bit up in the air, as the developer is now only sending updates to those who originally backed the project, with no major announcements coming to the wider world.

All that nonsense aside, I'm just glad we're getting more horror games, and I hope at least one of these manages to succeed and show us some unique gameplay twists we didn't see coming.

Friday the 13th

\n

Gaming has expanded by leaps and bounds since the NES title based on this unnecessarily long running-slasher series. The upcoming entry, which just passed its crowd funding goal on Kickstarter, will go down the path laid by Evolve, setting a group of campers against one overpowered killing machine.

\n

Getting to play as the eponymous slasher himself will likely be a ton of fun while taking down over-sexed camp counselors who aren't paying attention to their charges, although it remains to be seen if they'll be able to take a 7 vs. 1 combat scenario and actually make it scary.

Outlast 2

\n

Outlast is easily among my favorite horror experiences of all time, letting you play your own personal found footage flick. Making the camera the main mechanic was an excellent idea, and completely culling any ability to fight back really ratcheted up the tension. Outlast remembered something that every action packed zombie game forgets: there's nothing scary about being able to obliterate the things chasing you.

\n

Based on the recently released teaser, it looks like the religious overtones that popped up in the first game but were abandoned near the end of the story will come front and center this time around. My hope is that they keep the creepy religious themes going strong, and then at the end reveal nothing supernatural or sci-fi is going on at all in the sequel, instead letting the horror of humanity's own vile actions sink in.

Hopefully some tweaks to the formula pop up to keep things fresh and overcome the few flaws of the previous game to avoid the dreaded sophomore slump.

Halloween's over, but for the horror fanatics among us, that's no reason to put away your copies of Undying or Scratches. Although horror games are all too frequently squandered with sub-par execution, gaming offers a unique opportunity for true scares that books and movies can't match, because it puts you in the driver's seat. It's all happening to you, and not to some sultry co-ed who can't act.

\n

Devices like the Oculus Rift are going to absolutely catapult horror gaming into a whole new dimension soon, but while we wait for the promise of VR to become a workable and affordable reality, there's still a ton of horror titles coming out in the next year that are well worth your time.

\n

Unfortunately there's already been some major casualties in the 2016 lineup, most notably the cancellation of Silent Hills, which would have brought on the talents of director Guillermo Del Toro and The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus. This isn't the first time we've had a major Guillermo Del Toro disappointment on the horror front, as his planned movie adaptation of At The Mountains of Madness got scrapped some years back.

\n

We were also supposed to get a Call Of Cthulhu title from Frogwares next year that's been pushed back to 2017 as the title was shunted to a different developer. It's a damn shame, because the heart of any mythos experience – whether we're talking about Lovecraft's short stories, Call of Cthulhu pen and paper role playing scenarios, or even the 1st season of True Detective – is all about investigation and not tentacle monsters, making it a perfect fit for the company behind a slew of Sherlock Holmes games. Hopefully Cyanide Studio can step up to the task and give us something as mind-shattering as Frogwares would have.

\n

Those disappointments aside, these 11 games are all ones we're anticipating playing alone at midnight next year, covering a wide range of genres from first person shooters to survival games and even asymmetrical arena battles.

Dead Island 2 and Yager part ways https://www.gameskinny.com/hgm6s/dead-island-2-and-yager-part-ways https://www.gameskinny.com/hgm6s/dead-island-2-and-yager-part-ways Wed, 15 Jul 2015 18:56:35 -0400 Fireboltz_7795

Publisher of the Dead Island series Deep Silver officially parted ways with developer Yager. Deep Silver gave the following statement:

After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner Yager. We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage.

Dead Island 2 was originally set to release sometime this year, but during the E3 conference, Deep Silver announced its release date for sometime next year. Now with Yager taken out of the picture, the wait for fans will most likely be even longer until Deep Silver can find another company to take on the project. The last game for this series to come out was Dead Island: Riptide, which released back in April of 2013.

At Least We Have Other Dead Island Stuff

Even though the game is on delay, there is still the future Dead Island movie that is in the works. Lionsgate was originally going to make the movie, but after that project failed, Occupant Entertainment is now going to package, produce, and finance everything. There is also the MOBA version of the series, Dead Island: Epidemic that you can play until then. I recommend playing the original Dead Island game, enter the arena, and test your skills out.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (TBA)

\n

Acclaimed developer, Naughty Dog, is ready to strike again with another big game. After the unbelievable success of The Last of Us, a game that many would argue was the best game of the last generation of consoles, they are returning with the next installment in the Uncharted series.

\n

The game is set after the events of Uncharted 3 and still does not have a release date, but is anticipated to launch in 2015.

\n

Look for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End for PlayStation 4.

Tom Clancy's The Division (TBA)

\n

The Division was another amongst the many titles that was delayed. It appears that the challenges of the new console generation have hit developers harder than they expected. Earlier this year, Ubisoft announced that The Division would be pushed back to 2015, so hopefully it doesn't get pushed back sooner.

\n

This is a new series for the Tom Clancy games. The success of some of their big IPs, such as Ghost Recon, has dropped over the last few years and The Division has a lot of potential to help bring the name back into the mainstream shooter world. It will be played in an MMO type setting, the first game of the type in the Tom Clancy series.

\n

Look for Tom Clancy's The Division on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and potentially the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The Legend of Zelda (TBA)

\n

There has still been no official subtitle for the newest installment in The Legend of Zelda. At this point, we are pretty much just praying that we can avoid the inevitable The Legend of Zelda for Wii U or The Legend of Zelda U titles that Nintendo is throwing around these days. After Super Smash Bros. it is looking all the more likely.

\n

The big focus for this new installment is to give players more freedom by having less defined, bottle-necked zone changes and temple entrances. There is an ongoing discussion among the community about whether the format of the game is truly open-world, but you will have to wait until the game releases to make your own decision on the matter.

\n

Look for The Legend of Zelda for Wii U.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (TBA)

\n

Unfortunately, all we know right now is that The Phantom Pain will be releasing in 2015. We do not year have an indication of when in 2015 it will release, but at least 2015 is a start.

\n

We have already had a sneak peak into Metal Gear Solid V with Ground Zeroes, released back in March of this year. Many people were stunned by the fact that it took the average player about 45 minutes to an hour to beat the main storyline for Ground Zeroes, but the gameplay was solid, nonetheless.

\n

After the outstanding success of Metal Gear Solid 4, it is looking like Hideo Kojima could keep the ball rolling with another excellent installment next year.

Look for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Halo 5: Guardians (TBA - Q3/Q4)

\n

At the time of writing this article, neither 343 Studios nor Microsoft Studios have announced an official release date for Halo 5. It could very easily be delayed until 2016, but lets keep our fingers crossed for that late 2015 date.

\n

For Guardians, 343 has elected to try and bring Halo back to its strong roots by bringing back a heavier focus on the multiplayer aspect, and what made multiplayer so great in the beginning of the series.

\n

Look for Halo 5: Guardians on Xbox One.

Batman: Arkham Knight (June 2)

\n

Remember when the Arkham games were phenomenal? After many people were unsatisfied with Batman: Arkham Origins, some people questioned the future of the series. Well good news, Rocksteady Studios is back and Arkham is looking as good as ever.

\n

By not releasing to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Rocksteady has been able to include several features that they claimed they were not able to include with the last-gen consoles, including driving the Batmobile.

\n

Look for Batman: Arkham Knight on June 2 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Mortal Kombat X (April 14)

\n

Many would say that Mortal Kombat has stood the test of time better than any other fighting game. While games like Tekken and StreetFighter were top rivals years ago, they do not compete as well anymore on the sales charts as they used to.

\n

One thing that helps make Mortal Kombat such a promising time is the company's patience. Unlike many mainstream games these days, we are not seeing new installments being released annually. NetherRealm has opted to take a quality over quantity approach, similar to Rockstar Games. The consistent success of the Grand Theft Auto series proves how successful that approach can be in terms of quality.

\n

Look for Mortal Kombat X on April 14 for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Battlefield: Hardline (March 17)

\n

Hardline is one of the many games that has been delayed recently and, might I add, probably for good reason. After the devastating, bug-ridden launch of Battlefield 4 late last year, I don't think anybody would mind if they took the extra time to make sure we did not see that happen again.

\n

This installment to the series is a bit of a new direction for Battlefield, or for any of the mainstream shooters these days. Instead of the typical war scene, Hardline is set in a cops and robbers-type scenario. Looking at gameplay and the open beta, the true heart of the Battlefield has remained unaffected, only a twist has been added to it.

\n

It may be an important note for some of you that this game's primary developer is not DICE, it is Visceral Games.

\n

Look for Battlefield: Hardline on March 17 for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (February 24)

\n

For those of you Elder Scrolls fans that cannot wait any longer for the sixth installment, I urge you to take a look at The Witcher 3. It is another open-world action role-playing game set in a world that is claimed to be an "open world larger than any other in modern RPG history."

\n

It is expected to take approximately 100 hours to complete The Witcher 3, with 50 hours of that being on main story and 50 on side quests. It seems that there is a much stronger focus on the main story than in Skyrim.

\n

Look for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on February 24 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Evolve (February 10)

\n

Remember Valve's big co-operative shooter, Left 4 Dead? Well, the developers behind the acclaimed game, Turtle Rock Studios, are back with their first big game since then, Evolve. These ex-Valve developers have since moved on and joined up with publishing company, 2K Games.

\n

Turtle Rock has not abandoned their love for co-operative gameplay, Evolve will be heavily focused on four-player games in which you fight all kinds of enemies, including some large bosses.

\n

Look for Evolve on February 10 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The End of 2014

\n

I think most would say 2014 has been a fairly successful year for gaming. After the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One released late 2013, we were able to use 2014 to finally get a decent collection of games for the new consoles; however, it has only just begun.

\n

It is looking like 2015 will be the year we finally see what these consoles are truly capable of, so let's take a quick look at some of the most anticipated games of the upcoming year.

Epic has announced that starting today qualifying schools and universities can gain access to Epic's Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) for free. This means that all the tools that UE4 offeres will be free to use by students, who will also be able to take a copy home to use as they wish. This is also without the need for the monthly price tag.

Epic will still take 5% on any sales for each game sold, but without the monthly price, it seems like a no brainer to use UE4.

“Nothing is stopping students from honing the skills needed to enter the range of fields using Unreal Engine technology."

He later continues.

"Students who know Unreal Engine technology have a huge advantage when it comes to job placement.”

Ray Davis, general manager, Unreal Engine.

UE4 is powering the upcoming Dead Island 2, Epics own reboot of Unreal Tournament and Fortnite as well as a host of other games.

An early alpha demo of the upcoming UT running off UE4

What do you think about this news? Do you think it is good or bad for the industry?

I feel this can only be a good thing, the more creative minds behind games, the better the industry will become.

Dead Island Developer Leaving Content to Popular Vote? https://www.gameskinny.com/jfssj/dead-island-developer-leaving-content-to-popular-vote https://www.gameskinny.com/jfssj/dead-island-developer-leaving-content-to-popular-vote Wed, 09 Jul 2014 18:19:26 -0400 Krystina Butler

Dead Island 2 is  in development by Deep Silver and set to be released spring of 2015 for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Dead Island 2 picks up where Dead Island and Escape Dead Island left off at the Bonoi Islands, moving to a completely quaranteed Golden State.

The new game is said to combine classic elements from the earlier games such as close combat, multiplayer (up to eight), and action role-playing with new never-before-seen weapons and crazy characters wreaking havoc on major California landmarks from the Golden Gate Bridge to Venice Beach. Developers promise that Dead Island 2 will be more vibrant and light-hearted (yet just as, if not more, violent) than its predecessors.

Adding to the already highly anticipated game, Deep Silver is employing a tactic that was used with Dead Island Riptide and Saints Row IV allowing players to decide what they want to see in the game's collector's edition.

By filling out this simple Google Docs survey, players can choose from 28 items that range from something as simple as sunglasses to something as complex as digital content and an actual zombie by rating them on a scale of 1 (do not want) to 5 (I need this!).

If you really want to make your opinion count, you better do it fast because voting ends Monday July 14 at midnight.  After that, Deep Silver will announce the winning content based on the most popular items.  In addition, Deep Silver promises after the survey is submitted that they will do their best to make sure the collector's edition will be "awesome and affordable."

What do you want to see in the Dead Island 2 Collector's Edition? Personally, I would like to see Deep Silver take a crack at a real zombie...

I realize that since May 27th I have been rather M.I.A from GameSkinny. I will also not be posting as much soon after I get this new job of mine. It will take a lot of my time up. I know this isn't game news or reviews or anything, but I just wanted to let everyone who follows me or has read any of my work know my situation.

I wanted to share my favorite and not so favorite E3 moments. So here we go with the list and reasoning for my favorites and non favorite.

The good:

  1. Assassin's Creed Unity: I was excited to see this, because I am a huge Assassin's Creed fanboy. The single-player co-op was my favorite part of the presentation.
  2. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: I really didn't play the first two installments, but the presentation for the upcoming third installment made me excited and wanting to play the first two before getting the third. I really enjoy games of that time period.
  3. Halo: The Master Chief Collection: Now I know what some may think, "Who cares?!" To answer that, I do. Halo was my first multiplayer game online and Halo 2 is by far my favorite. I am happy to have four games for the price of one with access to a new Halo TV series and beta access to the multiplayer for Halo 5: Guardians.
  4. Star Wars: Battlefront: I don't think I have to explain my fandom for this, but I liked the little snippet of in-game engine footage for this game, even though I am kind of disappointed that we did not see gameplay demo. One of my most anticipated games.)
  5. The Division: This game is getting crazier the more the wait goes on. If there was ever a game that should have the potential to make Tom Clancy proud, it would be The Division.
  6. Dying Light: A zombie game with a more free fighting mechanic and parkour freedom, what can go wrong? Hopefully nothing. I cannot wait to get my hands on this title.
  7. Battlefield Hardline: As a Battlefield fan, I was happy to see that DICE and Visceral are taking a different turn away from the usual military warfare shooter.

The Bad:

  1. Grand Theft Auto 5 coming to next-gen: Rockstar wasted their presentation with this boring news. It's cool on PCs part, but I really don't see why they put that as their E3 presentation. Grand Theft Auto 5 wasn't even that great to begin with. Rockstar could have talked more about a Red Dead Redemption sequel they promised.
  2. Dead Island 2: I really had no problem with their presentation other than the fact that I wish they would worry more about finishing Dying Light since it was pushed back. I like the idea of it being brought to the states, which seems to offer more opportunities than Banoi did.
  3. Mirror's Edge 2: I did not care for the first Mirror's Edge, so I can't say that I am entirely too thrilled for another installment into the series.

The Neutral:

  1. Evolve: Even though I am getting this game, I was not wowed or excited by the presentation given for the game at E3.
  2. Sunset Overdrive: While it looks nice, I fear that it will end up tanking. Here's to hoping it does well.
  3. Dragon Age Inquisition: I never gave Dragon Age a chance, so I cannot say anything about this title.
  4. Infamous: First Light: Even though I liked Second Son for a while, I don't see First Light worth getting.

More Amazing Trailers From E3 https://www.gameskinny.com/vq7xc/more-amazing-trailers-from-e3 https://www.gameskinny.com/vq7xc/more-amazing-trailers-from-e3 Fri, 13 Jun 2014 21:01:34 -0400 Landon Sommer

The week is over, so that means E3 is sadly over, but a few more goodies trickled out after the event. With those goodies were more trailers for more awesome games. The trailers keep hitting us with amazing graphics or story. Question is, will that translate into graphics and stories for the games as well or leave us more disappointed from their absence?

How did I miss Bloodborne?

PlayStation put forward one of their exclusives and it's a hit right off the bat. Creepy and dark. I honestly can't tell if the main character will be the bad guy or the good guy. The empty baby carriage and the hairless zombie dogs set the mood pretty quickly. The man killing the dog is even creepier. This is an example of a trailer that doesn't tell you much about the game, but oh man do we want in! Also, watch to the very end of this trailer.

The gameplay trailer was the big reveal at E3 for this game. It seems to have a Dark Souls or Fable vibe walking around the world. There was plenty of choppy movement and pixellated moments. Let's hope these bits will be cleaned out by the time the game hits.

Gameplay or Cinematic?

It brought up plenty of questions whether the Far Cry 4 trailer was actual gameplay or a cinematic version of it. It looks to match plenty of the cinematic quality of games previewed this year and only a few true gameplay trailers like Division look anything this good. Before too long, it will be next to impossible to tell the difference between cinematic and gameplay. Will cinematic no longer be necessary?

Not Quite as Profound as the First

The Dead Island 2 trailer is more amusing than anything and nothing like the original. The first one told us a sad story, in reverse. This one is a simple transformation of the trailers main character running along, oblivious to all that is going around him. Instead of one of the many accidents in the background turning him into a zombie, he is already bit. We start to see his gruesome transformation with several body parts falling off. Just for kicks, his face is on a gym billboard at the end and a survivor takes his shoes.

Success

If anything, these trailers did everything they could to prove the new limits of next-gen gaming. The Xbox One and the PS4 have some work to do if they intend to keep pushing the limits of gameplay graphics. Better graphics can lead to slow load times or choppy game play. A word of caution, let's keep the gameplay at its best first and foremost.

E3 2014: Everything We Know About Dead Island 2 https://www.gameskinny.com/zcu7a/e3-2014-everything-we-know-about-dead-island-2 https://www.gameskinny.com/zcu7a/e3-2014-everything-we-know-about-dead-island-2 Fri, 13 Jun 2014 12:09:21 -0400 Kibret.Tsige

The original Dead Island attempted to be a serious game about a zombie outbreak on an island resort but the sequel seems to be taking a more lighthearted approach to fighting the undead.

Techland, the development team behind the first two titles in the series, will not be working on Dead Island 2. Instead Techland has chosen to work on Dying Light with publisher Warner Bros. A new developer, Yager Development, is working on the title and despite the change in tone and developers they've kept Dead Island 2 pretty similar to the earlier titles.

Dead Island 2 will put more focus on killing zombies in spectacular ways and having fun with it. Players will be able to kill the undead by luring them towards explosives such as propane tanks or damaged cars and setting them off. There will also be other traps like dilapidated houses where furniture and fixtures can be dropped on the undead. Zombies in Dead Island 2 can be lead from one area to another using sounds such as car alarms, radios and other loud noises to attract hordes of the dead.

Players will also get to roam all of California in their fight against the undead. In-universe the entire state has been quarantined and the majority of its citizens turned into mindless ghouls. The player is one of the few people immune to the virus and he/she joins a band of other people who aren't affected by it.

Dead Island 2 Promises a Larger, Lighter and More Colorful Experience

The game will also allow players to upgrade their own weapons like the earlier titles but without needing a workbench. From what's been shared so far players will still be smashing, slicing and shooting the undead but now they'll also have the option of herding zombies together for mass slaughter.

With a current release window of Spring 2015 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC Dead Island 2 should be an awe-inspiring way to live out your greatest zombie survival fantasies.
